Chapter Summaries

Xia Chen killed Saint Saturn, claimed the Gyuki fruit, and confronted the remaining Five Elders and Figarland Saint Garling. As Xia Chen and his clones attacked them, Vista challenged Hawk-Eyes to a duel while Whitebeard remained occupied fighting Red Dog.

• Xia Chen destroyed Saint Saturn's heart and head, killing him, and obtained the Mythical Zoan Ox-Ox Fruit, Model: Gyuki.
• Saint Nusjuro and Saint Peter confronted Xia Chen, who mocked them and sent his original body and four clones to attack while two other clones headed toward Sengoku and Garp.
• Vista told Hawk-Eyes that Ace had been rescued and challenged him to a swordsman's duel while Whitebeard fought Red Dog.
• Hawk-Eyes warned Vista that he should be prepared to die, but Vista charged at him anyway.

Hancock and Moria turned on the Marines while Sanji defeated Black Snake with a series of scorching kicks. Sanji left Black Snake motionless in a crater, seemingly dead, and remarked that he was overcooked.

• Hancock turned Marines to stone with Perfume Femur and watched Xia Chen’s fight from a distance rather than risk distracting him.
• Moria attacked Marines who accused him of refusing to help, convinced that Xia Chen’s strength would soon overturn the world’s balance.
• Sanji struck Black Snake from behind and sent him crashing into the ice.
• Black Snake asked how Sanji had grown so strong, and Sanji taunted him before attacking with his heated right foot.
• Sanji’s final kick slammed Black Snake into a crater, where Black Snake lay motionless as his presence faded.

Zoro defeated Mole with his newly improved Three-Sword Style, while Nami and the others decided to retreat to the Ark Maxim after Xia Chen rescued Luffy's brother. The group still did not know where Zoro was as they prepared to leave.

• Zoro and Mole fought to a standstill, and Zoro challenged him to withstand his strongest move.
• Zoro struck Mole with Great Thousand Worlds, and Mole admitted defeat before collapsing.
• Zoro spared Mole and headed toward Nami and the others.
• Nami and the crew fought off Marine reinforcements, and Sanji urged them to retreat to the Ark Maxim.
• The crew agreed to leave without waiting for Xia Chen, but Chopper worried that Zoro was missing.

Sanji found Zoro while looking for him and immediately kicked him after realizing he had called him an idiot. Meanwhile, Luffy defeated Purple Rat after a grueling fight, then collapsed asleep on the ice.

• Sanji reflexively said the crew was looking for an idiot, mistook the target for Luffy, and then recognized Zoro and kicked him.
• Purple Rat and Luffy continued trading blows, each badly injured as the fight wore on.
• Purple Rat knocked Luffy down and believed he had won, but Luffy struggled back to his feet and charged again.
• Luffy and Purple Rat struck each other in the chest, and Purple Rat realized Luffy had used Armament Haki to attack inside his body.

Whitebeard and Akainu resumed their duel, while Aokiji froze Jozu and tried to reach the battle against Xia Chen. Ace intercepted Aokiji, forcing the admiral to fight him instead.

• Whitebeard shattered Akainu’s magma fists and mocked him, but Akainu pointed out that Whitebeard’s failing body and limited Haki were weakening him.
• Whitebeard dismissed Akainu’s offer of a dignified death and charged at him again.
• Aokiji froze Diamond Jozu, then assessed the battlefield and decided to support the Fleet Admiral against Xia Chen.
• Aokiji attacked toward Xia Chen’s battlefield, but Ace stopped him with Mirror Flame.

Xia Chen defeated Sengoku and ordered the pirates to withdraw after rescuing Ace. Whitebeard covered his crew’s retreat but was struck by Akainu’s Hell Hound and left badly wounded.

• Xia Chen immobilized Sengoku with Freeze and knocked him unconscious with a punch.
• Xia Chen announced that the pirates had rescued their target and ordered them to leave the battlefield.
• The escaped prisoners from Impel Down fled, while Whitebeard ordered his crew to retreat and stayed behind to cover them.

Xia Chen rejected Shanks’s appeal to spare the World Government leaders, arguing that the Navy helped protect civilians but the World Government upheld its power through cruelty. He prepared to kill the Five Elders and Akainu, then challenged Shanks when he asked Xia Chen to show him some respect.

• Shanks and the Red Hair Pirates arrived while Xia Chen held his enemies inside eight stone spheres, and Shanks joked about Xia Chen once calling himself his nephew.
• Shanks asked Xia Chen to spare the captured Navy and World Government officials to preserve the balance of the seas.
• Xia Chen agreed that the Navy helped keep civilians safe but condemned the World Government and said the Five Elders must die.

• Xia Chen told Shanks he would not spare the people trapped in the rock spheres, though he would spare Shanks once for Luffy's sake if Shanks lost.

• Whitebeard asked Xia Chen whether he had killed everyone before faking his death, and Xia Chen said he had spared several people.
• Ace questioned whether Xia Chen’s fake-death plan would work and why he needed it, and Xia Chen said the world only had to see him die publicly.
