Background

Xiao Tian was originally a newly graduated worker on Planet Earth. After inheriting a legacy, he transmigrated into the world of Dou Qi and became Xiao Yan’s older brother. He retains knowledge of the world’s original timeline, although he has forgotten some details, including alchemical recipes and Heavenly Flame rankings 1 2 16 18.

By age five, he had still failed to awaken Dou Qi and was routinely mocked by Xiao Clan members. Xiao Zhan intended to pass the young clan leader position to Xiao Yan and send Xiao Tian to learn business. The Immortal Heavenly Dao System’s activation gave him the means to cultivate before that decision could consign him to an ordinary life 1 2.

Xiao Tian is outwardly cheerful and irreverent. He answers mockery with smiles, insults, or immediate retaliation rather than accepting humiliation. After gaining strength, he defeats Xiao Teng for setting a dog on him and later uses disguises and clones to steal and eat the family’s dogs, leaving Xiao Teng to take the blame 1 4 5.

He is opportunistic about money and power. He seeks opponents for system points, quickly recognizes alchemy as another source of points, and hopes rival clans will buy his medicines at auction rather than his own father. He also uses invented stories and a supposedly mysterious master to explain abilities he wants to keep secret 5 14 20 21.

His teasing coexists with genuine concern for others. He arranges for Xiao Yan to receive Yao Lao’s instruction, helps pursue a Beast Flame for him, and watches until Xiao Yan and Xun’er return safely before leaving on a dangerous pursuit 28 29 32.

Unlimited resurrection makes him exceptionally daring, but not indifferent to long-term growth. He repeatedly risks death to obtain a Heavenly Flame, then voluntarily gives up two minor realms to prevent rapid advancement from weakening his foundation 46 47 49.

Story Role / Major Arcs

Rise within the Xiao Clan

After awakening Dou Qi, Xiao Tian publicly overturns his reputation as a cultivation failure and defeats Xiao Teng. Over the following four years, he becomes the clan’s hidden fighting champion, while assassination contracts from the Jia Lie and Ao Ba families lead the clan to keep him under close protection 3 4 5.

He later detects Jia Lie intruders plotting to poison the clan’s water. His pursuit and subsequent account to the elders help expose the hostile operation, although his misleading explanations anger Xiao Yu 12 13 14.

Alchemy and the Adamantine Staff

Yao Lao’s emergence gives Xiao Tian access to formal alchemical instruction. He sells medicines through the auction house, supplies the clan’s medicinal business, and acquires the Adamantine Staff. During a poetry confrontation with Jia Lie Ya, his boastful verses complete the staff’s recognition conditions, allowing him to finish its blood binding 15 19 24 26 27.

Training in the Magical Beast Mountain Range

Xiao Tian leaves Wutan City to seek experience and investigate the meteorite-associated Heavenly Flame. His staff killings earn him the feared “Staff Demon” name. During this journey, he rescues Xian’er, visits her secluded home, and helps her obtain a temporary means of controlling her poison constitution 34 36 38 40 41 42.

Meteorite Sea of Fire

After Yun Shan intercepts him, Nalan Jie and other experts secure his release. Xiao Tian escapes the escort sending him home and uses resurrection to enter the Heavenly Flame’s center. Despite repeated deaths and bombardment by the gathered experts, he refines its origin and escapes through another resurrection 44 45 46 47 48 49.

Meanwhile, Xian’er delivers his soul ring to Xiao Yan. Unaware of his resurrection ability, Xiao Yan and Yao Lao conclude that a Misty Cloud Sect Dou Emperor killed him and commit themselves to revenge. Xiao Tian, alive but unable to fly back to Xian’er’s home, instead decides to return to Wutan City 49 50.
