Strange phenomenon?
Claude thought for a moment and knew what Wilford meant, "There were indeed some strange signs in the sky before."
"It was a long, blue river, which looked absolutely dreamlike, but it wasn't above our route, so we couldn't observe it up close."
Thinking of this, Claude quickly added:
"You were resting at the time, so I didn't dare disturb you... I wanted to ask the information department to use a satellite to see what it was, but they said you had ordered them to cut off all communication between the train and the outside world..."
Wilford remembered and calmly nodded.
"I see."
"The communication was cut off to prevent others from forcibly taking control of the train. There might be a back door they left on this train, and I can't be careless."
"But one or two weeks will be enough..."
Wilford muttered to himself.
At most two weeks later, the computer equipment in the information department will be ready to be used, and then they can take over the satellites in the sky to support the operation of the train.
But not in these two weeks.
Even the radio can't be turned on.
The train must be completely isolated from the outside world.
With that in mind, Wilford stopped paying attention to the so-called strange phenomenon being discussed by the people in the last carriage.
It's probably just some natural wonder that appeared after the atmosphere was disturbed.
Like the aurora borealis?
Wilford dismissed the thought and asked about something else, "Has preparation for the manufacture of the protein blocks begun?"
Claude immediately replied, "Yes, the raw materials are already being cultivated."
"Very good." Wilford was greatly pleased.
Protein cubes are a type of food, specifically for the last carriages, made from cockroaches, which are the easiest animals to raise.
When Claude said "in breeding," he meant that the cockroaches were already being bred.
As for what to use to cultivate it...
"To conserve food, we are currently feeding the cockroaches with food scraps collected during the cleaning of each carriage. Since the train has just started running, there aren't enough scraps yet, and it is expected to take about a month to get enough cockroaches."
Wilford was even more gratified, but then he remembered something else:
Has Gilliam entered the last carriage?
Claude turned on the monitor and pointed to an inconspicuous spot in the corner of the carriage. "He's here."
There, a gaunt old man sat quietly, his posture alone suggesting a wise man in deep thought, exuding an extraordinary air.
"Hmm... He's had a tough time."
Wilford nodded, his gaze towards the monitor filled with appreciation.
"What a cunning fellow. He told me he used to be a bomb disposal agent, specializing in guiding radical individuals to put their ideas into practice, and then arresting them at the last minute... With that experience, he can work well to help me control the last carriages..."
To put it bluntly, it's entrapment.
When they encounter individuals intent on instigating riots, bomb disposal agents will proactively join their ranks, guide them in carrying out their actions, and then arrest them once they have been convicted.
From baiting to casting, Gilliam was already extremely familiar with the process.
"Sir, why are we sending him in... as an undercover agent?" Claude didn't quite understand.
The people in the last carriage had no weapons, and not even food.
In Claude's view, there was absolutely no possibility of starting a riot.
In this situation, why would they need to plant a spy among them?
That's just now; nobody knows what the future holds.
Wilford smiled mysteriously, "The last carriage is actually a giant water tank. The water inside is constantly increasing. When it's filled with this invisible water, the carriage will explode."
"And Gilliam is like a valve that allows me to control when to release the water..."
Young Claude scratched his head, seemingly understanding but not quite.
"A kidnapping case involving at least a thousand people?"
"And those people were all kidnapped and put on the train?"
Is Wilford suspected to be the mastermind behind this massive kidnapping?
When Mather took a break from preparing for his escape from the nuclear war base, he immediately heard about the kidnapping case that had shocked the internet.
In an instant, he felt as disgusted as if he had swallowed two flies.
Wilford didn't forget to take a bunch of people with him when he ran away...
In Mather's view, these thousand-plus people were Wilford's protective shield, preventing his other partners from directly...
They used some extraordinary measures.
For example, if he wanted to deal with Wilford, he only needed to order the mobilization of troops during his free time to bomb Wilford's luxury roaming lines, and then wait for the train to derail.
Wilford's train life will naturally come to an end then, and perhaps even his life itself will be over.
But now that he's dragged over a thousand people down with him and made the whole thing public knowledge, he can't do that anymore.
Did they kill the criminals and over a thousand hostages together?
This is definitely a bit over the top.
Even if he ordered an attack on the railway, no one would actually dare to do it.
The order hasn't completely collapsed yet, so he must act according to the normal rules.
Unless he reveals the truth about the global cooling plan.
But how could he talk about that?
He still needs to rely on his current status as a tiger to get into the nuclear war base for refuge!
And Mather knew that.
Even if he successfully enters the base, he must not order an attack on the train, because he has no reason to attack the other survivors. So he can only watch the Snowpiercer run round and round on the line.
The thought made Mather grit his teeth in hatred.
Looking at the huge pile of other government affairs on the table, and the numerous headaches from various regions and departments that he had to deal with...
"Never mind!"
In a few days, most of humanity will be wiped out. What's the point of him handling government affairs then?!
Is this necessary?
With that thought in mind, Mather simply turned and left the office.
The secretary looked at him in surprise, completely baffled as to what he meant.
It took him a while to realize what was happening, and he chased after them with the documents in his arms.
"Sir, these matters now require your consent and authorization to proceed. This includes the mobilization of some rescue teams, and many rescue teams are restricted by procedures and cannot provide cross-regional support."
"Furthermore, there are some international issues involved that may be closely related to atmospheric cooling..."
Mather wouldn't listen to a single word; all he cared about now was his own refuge.
"Don't worry about that now. Go and make the arrangements immediately. I need to inspect that recently reopened shelter; that's the most important thing."
"By the way, don't schedule flights. There's been unusual airflow lately; flying isn't safe..."
