Hong Kui led Qingmu to Hong Zhenlong's room again. Since he did not invite Huang Ziqiang, and Huang Ziqiang knew he couldn't be of much help, he tactfully said he would wait outside.
When Qingmu entered, Hong Zhenlong was already awake, sitting up in bed, but his hands and feet were still bound by restraints. A servant was feeding him, spoonful by spoonful, very carefully. Hong Zhenlong cooperated well, and even said thank you in English when he finished eating.
When Hong Zhenlong saw Qingmu, he asked, "Is this a doctor?"
Hong Kui walked over, bent down his tall frame, and whispered in Hong Zhenlong's ear, "Yes, Father, let him take a look at you."
Hong Zhenlong nodded and said, "He looks young, but he's quite special. Hmm, maybe he's got some skills." His eyes became very clear at that moment, like two clear springs growing on the Loess Plateau on his thin old face.
Hong Zhenlong's previous performance showed that he possessed powerful Mental Power, especially in the instant of his outburst. However, his body was very weak, which made Qingmu hesitant to hypnotize him easily. It would be difficult to handle if the other party's resistance to his consciousness caused any physical problems.
So he simply started taking it slow, just like a traditional Chinese medicine practitioner.
He looked at the restraints on Hong Zhenlong's body and asked, somewhat puzzled, "Why are you tied up?"
Hong Kui explained, "When this disease flares up, a person becomes incredibly strong and has a certain tendency towards violence, so restraints are used to keep them in place to prevent them from harming those around them. My father and the rest of the family knew this, and it was all voluntary, including when I had an episode."
"However, such physical restraint can exacerbate a patient's violent tendencies and deplete their physical strength."
Qingmu was actually worried that it would affect Hong Zhenlong's dream after he hypnotized him, because consciousness and body are not completely disconnected when dreaming. Moreover, any physical sensation will be searched for in the brain's memory and amplified. For example, if you put a small piece of ice on your skin while you sleep, you may dream of falling into an ice hole in the Arctic Ocean. That's why there is a saying that "dreams are amplifiers".
The old man was restrained, which greatly affected his dreams. Hypnosis only helps the person enter a dream state, but it doesn't allow them to dream whatever they want.
"If I let go, I'm afraid I'll hurt you," Hong Kui said.
"Oh, don't worry about me," Qingmu said.
Hong Kui remained silent for a moment, then sought Hong Zhenlong's opinion. "Father..."
Hong Zhenlong said, "Send the servants away. Arrange for a few bodyguards to protect this person..."
My name is Qingmu.
"Oh, Dr. Qingmu."
Hong Kui then signaled all the servants to leave, added two more bodyguards, and personally helped his father untie his restraints.
"How does it feel? Doesn't it feel much better now?" Qingmu said.
Hong Zhenlong stretched his arms. "Indeed, it feels much better."
Qingmu shuffled to the window and yanked back the curtains. "If your legs aren't numb, come and see the view outside. It's quite nice; you can see a good portion of Wuzhong."
Hong Zhenlong, supported by Hong Kui, walked over, saw the scenery outside the window, breathed a sigh of relief, and said, " Wuzhong is truly beautiful!"
The sunlight shone on his gaunt face, gradually bringing color back into it. His eyes also became bright and sparkling with a faint blue light.
Qingmu turned to Hong Kui and said, "See, isn't this great?"
Hong Kui's face showed a hint of worry, but he still grinned at Qingmu, revealing two rows of teeth that were much sharper than those of an average person, especially his canines, which were not only sharp but also very long. Combined with his burly physique, this reminded Qingmu of the Kenai Mountains Wolf from Alaska.
It was a giant wolf capable of taking on Lion, living on the Kenai Mountain Peninsula in Alaska, United States. The United Kingdom entered that frigid region in the late 16th century, believing that this enormous wolf was a symbol of evil, and carried out a hunting campaign that lasted for more than two hundred years. By the early 20th century, the Kenai Mountain Wolf was completely extinct.
Qingmu didn't know why he knew about this kind of wolf. Maybe he had seen it in some gossip magazine. Anyway, he had a lot of random magazines in his office, and he couldn't remember when he bought them.
However, Qingmu soon encountered this wolf, not because he had traveled to the snowy, uninhabited Alaska wilderness a century ago, but in Hong Zhenlong's dream.
It was a hill covered in snow. Hong Zhenlong stood upright on the top of a small hill, his feet sinking deep into the snow, leaving two clear footprints behind him that stretched far into the distance. Clearly, he had traveled a long way to get here. About a kilometer ahead of him, on another hilltop, dozens of huge gray wolves appeared.
They seemed to be searching for something, or perhaps hiding from something. Then gunshots rang out, and a pack of sled dogs pulling a cart came into view. Sitting on the cart were United Kingdom, or perhaps United States, men carrying guns. They were dressed in thick clothing, urging the sled dogs to race towards the wolf pack, firing shots into the air. The wolves, startled, ran across the open field, crossing hill after hill. But the sled dogs multiplied, closing in from all directions following the sound of gunfire, trapping the wolves in a ravine.
This is an incredibly vast dream. It's not the kind of dream most people have, like having a 3D mural on your wall or a starry sky painted on your ceiling—it's truly enormous.
Qingmu immediately realized that this couldn't possibly be Hong Zhenlong's independent dream. But the wolves and the United Kingdom in the distance weren't real entities; they were definitely products of a dream. So, whose dream was this?
Hong Zhenlong's eyes turned a deep blue, filled with rage. His hands clenched into fists, and his body trembled uncontrollably.
Suddenly, a wolf howl rang in my ears, as if it came from a deep mountain valley, powerful, long, and extremely penetrating.
Qingmu saw a glint of excitement in Hong Zhenlong's eyes. In the distance, the wolf hunters with guns jumped off their sleds, chattering amongst themselves while looking around for the source of the noise. The gray wolves also began to howl, their mournful cries echoing one after another.
Not long after, a huge white wolf appeared on the towering rocks of the left cliff.
It's not easy to accurately describe the shape and size of objects in dreams, but if the people sitting in the sleds are normal humans, then the white wolf is astonishingly large. Its shoulder height exceeds two meters, and its body length is estimated to be over four meters, which exceeds the size of any canine or feline animal and is comparable to a small Asia elephant.
It is like a lonely king, dressed in white, standing on the highest peak of this frigid land.
