As the three people were talking, a string of old-fashioned wind chimes hanging at the entrance of Petru's cave suddenly started to clang.

The sound was not pleasant; it was like striking a rusty iron pot with a stick.

Petru suddenly jumped up like Monkey, grabbing a submachine gun leaning against the wall. "Someone's coming, I'll go check it out."

He had barely finished speaking when he rushed out.

Qingmu and Su Huilan exchanged a glance and followed them out.

"Caw!" the Crow cried. " Hanran, shall we go?"

The cat meowed once, looking at the Crow, its meaning clearly saying, "If you go, I'll go; if you don't go, I won't go either."

"I'll also keep an eye on things with the bookstore; I'm afraid Ruhua will get taken advantage of!" the Crow said, flapping its wings as it flew away.

Hanran tilted her head and thought for a moment, probably unable to understand why Ruhua would suffer a loss? The landlady was clearly not on the island! However, she saw the Boss Coal fly away and quickly chased after him.

The clouds and fog at sea have dispersed, the rainbow over the canyon has long since disappeared, and the air on the island after the rain is fresh and slightly salty.

Petru moved quickly. By the time Qingmu went out, his figure had already disappeared at the edge of the woods ahead, then flashed a few more times on the bare hillside before vanishing completely.

Qingmu had to admit that Petru was an excellent guy; it wouldn't be easy for anyone or any organization to capture someone like him.

Petru and Hou Biao have similarities; both were once top jungle warriors, ruthless killers, and both were born Awakened with formidable Mental Power.

Now both are middle-aged, but Petru is clearly more agile than Hou Biao. This is the difference between living a life of luxury as a bodyguard for the wealthy in the city and being a pirate who spends his life at sea, entrusting his life to the sea god.

Moreover, Petru's Mental Power had clearly undergone specialized training. Although it was rather rudimentary, it was far superior to Hou Biao he joined Qingmu's side. Qingmu believed that with a little guidance, he could reach an even higher level.

When Qingmu and Su Huilan arrived at the hillside, Petru was lying prone behind a large rock, his desert camouflage blending seamlessly with the surrounding reefs. He held a sniper rifle, tilted his head, and buried his face in the scope, like Lion lying in ambush on the savanna.

"Two people, a man and a woman, the one who led you up here, could he be your companion?" Petru asked as they crouched down to approach.

"No, there are only two of us," Su Huilan said.

"That's good." Petru spoke, the words almost squeezed out from between his teeth, as if afraid that even a slight movement of his mouth would affect the accuracy of his shot.

Before Su Huilan could stop him, he had already pulled the trigger.

A gunshot rang out, Qingmu saw a fleeting flash of light from the muzzle, followed by the pungent smell of gunpowder.

"Damn, they ran fast!" Petru cursed, but didn't fire a second shot.

"You fired without even asking?" Su Huilan frowned.

Petru said, "You've destroyed all the traps down the mountain. With nothing to distract them, they'll rush up quickly. The Pastor told me that my only chance against a psychic is to shoot before they realize it."

How do you know they are spiritual masters?

"He sensed it when I aimed."

"Missed it?"

"One was hit, the other ran away."

"Stop firing! Take him alive!"

Seeing Petru hesitate, Su Huilan patted him on the shoulder, "Don't worry, we're here. You also want to find out who these people who are chasing you are, right?"

Didn't you already tell me?

"But my understanding of them is limited. If we can capture one alive, perhaps we can uncover the secrets behind the whole world."

Petru suddenly rolled over, turned his gun around, and pointed it at Su Huilan's head, angrily saying, "You didn't come to me to rent a boat at all; you wanted to use me as bait to lure them in! Did you bring these two people here?"

Su Huilan remained calm and said, "Only the bait itself can attract fish. If you are not the bait, there is nothing I can do."

Qingmu suddenly realized. He had been thinking that there were plenty of boats available for rent in the Pacific Ocean, and these islands were teeming with skilled sailors. Even the most knowledgeable pirate couldn't possibly be more familiar with the surrounding waters than the local natives. Why, then, did Su Huilan go to such lengths to rent a boat from a desperate fugitive hiding on an island?

After their conversation in the cave, he assumed Su Huilan was after the nautical charts. But Su Huilan was unaware that Petru possessed these Ghost Island maps; it was an unexpected bonus.

It now seems that her trip to the South Pacific to investigate the research vessel accident was just a pretext; her real purpose was to find Petru, use him as bait, and reel in the fish she wanted.

However, it's unlikely that Petru said the people down the mountain were brought by Su Huilan. He and Su Huilan had traveled together, and if she had wanted to do something, or if someone had been following them, Qingmu would have noticed.

Qingmu found this woman quite complex. How much of what she said in the cave was believable? He really wanted to go into this woman's dream to find out.

"At this close range, you can't kill me at all." Seeing Petru's angry expression, Su Huilan laughed, "Alright, the person they want to kill is you. We're comrades now, or as we say in China, 'birds of a feather flock together'!"

"I'm not a grasshopper, and I don't like being bait!" Petru said resentfully, then turned and lay down on the rock to continue monitoring the movements below.

"Who will go down and catch fish?" he asked.

Su Huilan said, "I'll go. Qingmu, you and Petru stay on the mountain and keep watch, ready to support me if needed."

Qingmu initially wanted to go down himself, after all, Su Huilan was a woman. But then he thought about it again, and he really wanted to see her strength. Moreover, Su Huilan didn't say "you," but specifically emphasized " Qingmu, you and Petru," which seemed to imply that she wanted Qingmu to keep an eye on Petru.

Qingmu thought about it and realized he was right. Just a few hours ago, this guy had fired several shots at them, almost killing him.

"Then be careful," Qingmu said.

"Okay, I understand. Just watch my gestures," she said.

Qingmu added, "Take Hanran with you; it might be helpful."

"Okay." Su Huilan smiled, picked up the cat that had just followed her, and walked out from behind the rock where they were hiding.

She had a great figure, with well-proportioned proportions, a slender waist, and long legs. Her walking posture was elegant and steady, and her long hair was gently blown by the wind, swaying in waves as she descended the mountain.

It was a perfect back view. Looking at her, Qingmu recalled that rainy night, as if he could smell the rich fragrance that hit his mind.
