Huang Liang wasn't surprised; he'd seen Quill Wolf in this state before.
During his time in Vancouver, he developed a deep mutual trust and friendship with the Wolf Family, especially He Hong Kui.
Unlike Old Wolf Hong Kui, who was out of control during his episodes and mostly in his sleep, Hong Kui Old Wolf enter this state while fully conscious and had excellent control over his mind. His Mental Power was also significantly greater than Old Wolf's.
Huang Liang once entered Hong Kui's dream with his consent. The scene in the dream was similar to that in Old Wolf's dream. It wasn't until the white wolf appeared that things became slightly different.
Old Wolf's dream always begins afresh, inevitably involving the free life of the gray wolves, the hunting by humans, the escape, until finally there is nowhere left to run, and then the white wolf appears. Just as Old Wolf excitedly tries to rush in, the white wolf lets out a long howl to the sky, and the dream shatters.
But Hong Kui was different; he was able to directly enter the final scene of the dream and stare at the White Wolf for a long time. Moreover, he even crossed the barrier and walked to the White Wolf's side.
As a doctor and a Mental Power Awakened, Huang Liang naturally knew the reason for this situation. But Enluke was clearly frightened; although he was a confidant of Kui Wolf, this was the first time he had ever seen anything like it.
He nervously and awkwardly took a few steps back, trying to get as close to Huang Liang as possible, and then stammered, "Kui... Kui... Young Master... what's wrong?"
"Don't worry, it's just an illusion," Huang Liang reassured him.
Enluke shook his head vigorously and rubbed his eyes, but the scene before him remained unchanged. He was somewhat incredulous that it was a hallucination. However, whether due to excessive nervousness or his position within the family, he dared not ask any further questions. Usually talkative, he now kept his mouth tightly shut, standing to the side like a mute.
Huang Liang patted him on the shoulder and said, "Now I need you to do something."
Enluke said, "What is it? Tell me, what is it? I will do as you say."
Huang Liang said, "Your young master and I need some quiet time right now. We can't be disturbed in any way during this time. You keep watch around us and don't let anything affect us."
Enluke nodded, took out his weapon from his backpack, and then found a place with a good view about thirty paces away from them. He stood on the rock, looking around nervously like a young, newly enlisted soldier, and then gave Huang Liang an OK sign.
Huang Liang found Enluke's expression somewhat amusing. However, he didn't want any accidents to happen due to carelessness. Was that cloaked man still following them? Could he be the one who killed Selina? What was he doing following them? If he had malicious intent, he would have acted long ago; perhaps he was waiting for an opportunity, or something else entirely.
Huang Lian glanced uneasily into the distance, then stood next to Wolf, getting as close as possible to sense the peculiar mental fluctuations emanating from him.
The snow began to distort and change, and in a daze, a towering ice cliff appeared before my eyes, with a white wolf standing on the ice cliff, howling at the sky.
But he couldn't see Hong Kui; the only thing in his world was that white wolf. He knew that the white wolf was Hong Kui.
The white wolf looked at Huang Liang with sharp, cautious eyes, as if confirming his identity. After a while, it finally nodded, then turned and walked away.
Huang Liang unconsciously followed suit.
They advanced through the rolling mountains, following the massive glaciers. Huang Liang sensed that the ice and snow beneath his feet were different from the Harding Icefield he had seen on the way there. The glaciers here looked older and more desolate, the sky was clearer, and the distance in the distance seemed even more remote.
Before the cliffs of a canyon, the white wolf stopped, glanced at the Huang Liang behind it, and then howled to the sky.
It was a rock wall forged from ice, its surface as smooth as a mirror.
Huang Liang saw his own shadow reflected on the ice, along with the outlines of the sky and the earth. Then, he saw the two strange, triangular shadows of icicles.
Those were two large icicles reflected in the ice wall. Upon closer inspection, they were square pyramids, like two pyramids or two huge diamonds, frozen point-to-point in the ice of the rock wall.
Huang Liang looked around and saw nothing of the same shape, indicating that it was not a reflection, but rather something that was indeed inside the ice wall.
He looked at the white wolf, and the white wolf looked at him too.
Huang Liang saw encouragement in the white wolf's eyes, as if to say, "Come closer, you'll see it more clearly."
He slowly walked forward. As he approached the ice wall, the images reflected in it began to recede, the sky and earth gradually receding into the distance, the leisurely white clouds like drifting feather blankets, and the glacier appearing to be flowing.
Huang Liang had thought he could see his face more clearly through the ice wall, even down to the pores and other details. But strangely, as he approached, his own shadow receded, just like the other receding reflections in the mirror, disappearing little by little.
The entire rock face was like a giant mirror, yet it reflected nothing, but the two diamond-like icicles inside became increasingly clear.
You can clearly see the frozen white sand-like substance inside the Huang Liang, as if it's still flowing.
He unconsciously reached out and touched the ice wall, but his fingers felt no coldness at all, or even any sensation at all, as if it were a place without temperature.
The white wolf raised its neck, howled at the sky, and then began to whimper. Huang Liang suddenly had a strange feeling that the white wolf was saying goodbye to him, as if it were giving its last instructions.
Just as he was about to ask a question, he suddenly sensed a strange mental fluctuation in front of him.
He saw the white sand flowing out of the two icicles, like an hourglass made of ice. The white sand flowed slowly from the upper sieve and accumulated in the lower one.
After an unknown amount of time, the white sand ran out. Suddenly, the two icicles turned upside down, and a new journey through time began.
This tedious process continued, but Huang Liang was mesmerized. His gaze could no longer leave the sand; he understood the meaning of time from the flowing sand.
Quicksand, leaks out, reverses...
Over and over again.
The hourglass spun faster and faster, soon turning into a vortex. A vast spiritual force swept before Huang Liang's eyes, and he saw a large black hole.
This reminded him of the Dream Corridor he used to contact Howard, the one that had once trapped Qingmu. Could this also be a similar zero-dimensional space? Could this be the passage to the Holy Land?
The white wolf whimpered as it looked at him with encouraging eyes.
"You want me to come in?" Huang Liang asked.
The white wolf nodded.
"Okay, I'll go first, you follow."
As Huang Liang spoke, he stepped inside.
He suddenly heard a sharp and fierce wolf howl, and hurriedly turned around to look. He could only see a blurry white wolf with its white fur standing on end, revealing sharp teeth in its mouth.
In front of the wolf stood a person wearing a black cloak.
Huang Liang knew something was wrong. In a flash, a crimson scalpel appeared in his palm.
However, before he could do anything, he was sucked into the depths of darkness by a tremendous suction force.
When the light returned, he saw a range of snow-capped mountains ahead, with two enormous peaks soaring into the clouds. Sunlight shone on the perpetually snow-covered slopes, reflecting an eerie glow.
He knew this was definitely not the Harding Icefield.
