"I'm sorry, Wen He. I don't like you. I already have someone I like."
Wen He slowly opened his eyes. The words from his dream seemed to linger right before him. He squeezed his eyes shut and began carefully recalling everything in the dream.
He had just had a dream in which he was a background character in a dating-show novel. No one on the show liked him, and he spent every day cooking in the kitchen. Occasionally, he would go on a date with the male lead gong, causing misunderstandings that furthered the relationship between the lead gong and shou.
Then, during the final confession segment, the lead gong rejected him.
No matter how he looked at it, he was nothing more than minor cannon fodder.
Wen He rubbed his fluffy hair and opened his eyes, no longer sleepy at all.
The young man's bright eyes were filled with confusion. Why would he like the lead gong?
He did not understand... Although he was unsure whether the dream was true or false, he had lived for twenty-three years and naturally knew that all of this really existed.
What puzzled him, though, was that he really was going to participate in a dating show tomorrow.
Unable to figure out why, Wen He chose to stop thinking about it.
He cared more about what to eat for breakfast than about thinking through any of this.
Dragging his frail body along, Wen He slowly climbed out of his soft bed.
Staring at his reflection in the mirror, he took a little foam from the corner of his mouth and smeared it onto the cheek of his reflection.
Wen He had delicate features. His was not a face people would remember at first glance in a crowd, but it grew on people, revealing its distinctiveness upon closer inspection.
He spat out the foam in his mouth and finished washing up, then opened a food delivery app to order takeout. Staring at his meager WeChat balance, Wen He pressed his lips together and finally chose Pinhaofan.
While waiting for his delivery, he opened a drawing app on his tablet and began drawing. Business had been bad lately, and he had not landed any big commissions. That was also why he had agreed to join the dating show.
Participating in the show would earn him a large sum of money, enough to live on for six months to a year.
It had all started one afternoon half a month ago.
That afternoon, Wen He had felt unwell and gone to a pharmacy for medicine, where he happened to meet Director Guo, who was buying medicine for internal heat. The director had immediately been drawn to Wen He's voice and appearance.
Thinking of how difficult casting had been over the past few days, he decided he might as well take a gamble!
So he boldly grabbed Wen He's hand.
After that, Wen He agreed to join the dating show, and the director wasted no time signing a contract with him.
Wen He ate his fried noodles while revising an image according to a client's requests.
By the time he finalized the last details, he had also finished his last bite of noodles.
Then he posted on Weibo.
"Something's come up at home. Temporarily not taking commissions (except big ones)."
He was going on a dating show, but he still had to make money!
He did not want to eat Pinhaofan anymore. It did not taste good at all.
Meanwhile, Blue Station also published a Weibo post.
In the sweltering summer, a gentle, warm breeze stirred my fluttering heart. Here in romantic Summer City, I, too, want to meet a romantic you.
"Heart Flutter with You" officially premieres tomorrow. Be sure to tune in on time~ @"Heart Flutter with You" official production team.
This was Blue Station's first entirely livestreamed same-sex dating show.
Although same-sex marriage had been legal for many years, the entertainment industry was still not accepting enough of it.
At this moment, Blue Station was undoubtedly firing the first shot in the entertainment industry.
What was more, the show would be entirely livestreamed. This would allow viewers to feel more involved, without having to second-guess one another because of all the editing, as they did with previous dating shows.
1: Holy crap! This is wild. All same-sex?
2: Apart from college dorms, I've never seen this many guys living in one place.
3: And it's entirely livestreamed! Now I can really follow along!
4: Finally, I won't have to worry about the production team's ridiculous editing. It starts tomorrow? Too bad I have class tomorrow... Boohoo, I won't be able to watch. I hope there'll be livestream replays. Speaking of which, they'll release an edited version, right?
366: I hope this batch of guests is a little better-looking. I don't want to watch a bunch of eyesores (`へ´)
367 replying to 366: Are you talking about that one show...? I watched it too. As someone obsessed with looks... I don't even know what to say...
368: Amazing, we can finally ship to our hearts' content! Romance is more fun when other people are doing it!
369: Finally, no bunch of celebrities sitting around making predictions. Every time I watch a dating show, a good half the runtime is celebrities talking... Sigh, does anyone get it? I just want to ship couples!
Wen He casually scrolled through the comments. He had not expected the production team's post to shoot straight into the top three trending topics.
Still, this brand-new kind of show did draw a lot of attention on its own, not to mention that the production team would definitely pay for trending placement.
Wen He left the show's profile and tapped his own avatar to open his profile. One hundred and thirty thousand followers... Fewer than the comments on the show's post.
Sigh...
Wen He let out a soft sigh. He only hoped he could have an easier time during his month on the show.
He had no interest in romance... Money, on the other hand, interested him very much.
Early the next morning, Wen He got up to coordinate with the production team. The show would film for a month in total. Wen He casually packed a few simple outfits and got into the vehicle the production team had arranged.
The house was in Summer City. To ensure the guests' safety and privacy, the production team had spent a fortune renting a large old castle on the outskirts.
When Wen He arrived, the sight before him truly stunned him. The entire castle leaned toward a European style, with an enormous garden in the center and a backyard as well. If Wen He had to describe it, he would call it palatial.
Wen He got out of the car, pulling his pale-yellow suitcase.
[He's here, he's here! Guy number one is here!]
[Aren't they all guys?]
[I've been waiting all morning!]
[He's pretty good-looking, just not my type.]
[Anyone want to make a bold guess about whether guy number one is a top or a bottom?]
[One vote for bottom.]
[Two votes.]
[Why isn't anyone betting on him being a total gong!]
[First, his looks don't exactly scream powerful gong. He just looks clean-cut, I guess. Second, he only looks about 175 centimeters tall?]
[175 isn't short, is it?]
[A short gong is pretty good too...]
Wen He pulled his suitcase all the way to the castle entrance. The entrance hall was spacious, but the production team had decorated it beautifully. Sponsors filled the otherwise empty spaces around it, with both food and drinks.
No one here... Looks like I'm the first.
After leaving his suitcase in a corner, he followed the staff's directions and went over to the sofa in the hall. The coffee table before him was already covered with fruit and snacks.
Rooms would only be assigned once everyone arrived. Since Wen He was alone for now, he took out his phone and idly scrolled through Weibo.
The first recommended post he saw upon opening Weibo read, "Heart Flutter with You" is live~ Come watch, everyone~
For some inexplicable reason, Wen He tapped into the livestream. There were currently over thirty thousand viewers, which was not very many...
He looked down at his screen, which showed him looking down at his phone.
[Why does he keep playing on his phone?]
[Doesn't the production team confiscate their phones?]
[He's alone. If he doesn't play on his phone, is he supposed to talk to thin air? That'd be pretty creepy... Um...]
Wen He watched the viewers send sporadic bullet comments.
The castle was huge, and the production team had not arranged for lots of people to surround Wen He and film him inside. Only a handful stood in the corners.
Bored, Wen He browsed the livestream, hoping all the guests would arrive soon so he could go back to his room and rest.
Soon, the livestream switched views, and the bullet comments began buzzing.
