Prologue: My Lords, Hear This Dragon's Roar
Douluo Continent, Star Luo Empire.
A massive palace-like structure stood beneath golden glazed tiles, which gleamed with a crimson light in the setting sun.
It was dusk. The remaining sunlight spilled across the golden glazed tiles, casting the entire Ducal Palace in a somber blood-red hue, visible even from the walls of Star Luo City.
The rear gate on the southern side of the Ducal Palace silently opened, and a small figure slowly emerged.
He was a boy who looked only eight or nine years old. Thin and frail, he held a tinderbox in his hand. His short black hair was somewhat messy, and his pale little face bore a dead stillness utterly unfitting for his age.
The boy was named Huo Yuhao. He was not the original Huo Yuhao from Unrivaled Tang Sect, but Huo Yuhao who had transmigrated from Blue Star.
In his previous life, the girl he loved had offended a group of animals online. Those dogs in sheep's clothing recklessly spread her photos under the guise of looking for tea and bombarded her with telecommunications harassment day and night. Under the pressure of public opinion, she ultimately could no longer endure what those animals had done and jumped from a high-rise building.
That group of animals used superb technical means to erase every trace of their abuse, and in the end, nothing came of it. Yet every night when Huo Yuhao fell asleep, he could feel the girl's gaze upon him, filling his heart with unbearable torment and piercing pain.
In the end, Huo Yuhao spent several months concealing himself under a false name. Through contacts from every side, he tracked down the addresses of those animals, traveled from place to place in an extremely short time, and ground them to dust one by one. Finally, he willingly went to prison.
On the night of his execution, Huo Yuhao threw back his head and laughed madly, blood flooding his eyes as he roared at the injustice of the world. He had no regrets for anything he had done!
"This world gave pain to me and those I cherish, so I will make the world feel pain as well!"
"Let those pieces of trash feel pain!"
When he woke again, he was already in the Ducal Palace of the Star Luo Empire on Douluo Continent. He had transmigrated.
And the first thing he experienced after transmigrating was a heavy kick from one of the palace guards.
Just as in the original work, faced with the battle-hardened guard under his half-brother Dai Huabin, the weak Huo Yuhao had no power to fight back. Hearing the commotion outside, his biological mother, Huo Yun'er, ran out from the courtyard and shielded her young son with her body, begging them again and again.
In the end, both mother and son were beaten until they were barely alive before the guards finally stopped.
Scenes from the original owner's memories continuously flashed through Huo Yuhao's mind.
Huo Yun'er had been Duke White Tiger's personal maidservant, following him since childhood as they grew up together. Among nobles, personal maidservants existed to serve their masters. One night twelve years ago, Huo Yuhao had quietly come into being in his mother's womb.
Because she had grown up alongside the Duke, Huo Yun'er had always been deeply favored by him, and thus had constantly suffered the jealousy of the Duke's lawful wife.
While Duke White Tiger was away at war, the Duchess drove the mother and son into a woodshed behind the servants' quarters, where they lived in misery. Huo Yun'er's health gradually collapsed, and with the Duchess's servants suppressing and bullying her from time to time, Huo Yun'er eventually fell gravely ill and passed away.
Huo Yuhao was young, and his body had been somewhat more capable of recovering, so he stubbornly endured. But Huo Yun'er had been weakened by years of overwork and illness, leaving her with severe internal injuries.
Two years later, Huo Yun'er finally left this world forever, carrying boundless reluctance in her heart.
Huo Yuhao's eyes gradually turned red. He clearly remembered those unusual double pupils—the symbol of the Ducal Palace's direct bloodline. And he, the Duchess's youngest son and Huo Yuhao's own half-brother, Dai Huabin, had killed his mother...
Huo Yuhao spent several full months combining the chemical research he had excelled at in his past life with his cleaning duties as cover, burying nearly a ton of explosives throughout the entire Ducal Palace.
"It is finally complete." Huo Yuhao was so excited that he could barely control himself. His entire body trembled as he wiped the sweat from his forehead and bared his teeth in a cruel grin.
"Mother of this life, watch over me from heaven. I can finally begin avenging you!"
Huo Yuhao lit the tinderbox and casually tossed it onto the ground. The fuse barely protruding from the earth ignited instantly, carrying Huo Yuhao's violent emotions from both lifetimes as it swept toward the vast Ducal Palace—
"Boom—"
Just as Huo Yuhao had walked a li away, a deafening explosion echoed through the heavens. A colossal mushroom cloud suddenly rose from the Ducal Palace grounds, and the oncoming blast nearly knocked the frail boy over. Yet Huo Yuhao forcibly remained standing where he was, spreading his arms and laughing wildly.
Mother, hear this dragon's roar!
"Hehehe..." Huo Yuhao laughed with incomparable delight, laughing so hard that tears streamed down his face. Crying and laughing, he walked back without caring that the scorching winds from the explosion tore apart his thin clothes.
Around ten minutes later, Huo Yuhao returned to the "former site" of the Ducal Palace. Calling it ruins would have been more appropriate. Everywhere he looked were the wreckage of pavilions billowing with thick smoke, utter devastation with none of the splendor it had possessed half an hour earlier.
Mother, I did it. Did you see it? Huo Yuhao looked at his masterpiece, waving his arms and dancing as though he had gone mad.
Just then, several black-clad figures tore through the air from afar and arrived before the ruins of the Ducal Palace, each wearing an expression of shock.
Good heavens, had this place been directly hit by a Level 9 Soul Guided Cannon Shell?
The leading man in black stood with his hands behind his back, gazing at the ruins in silence as though sensing something.
Before long, he raised a hand and lightly clenched the empty air ahead. Several humanoid phantoms immediately drifted from the ruins and gathered toward his palm.
"Resentful Spirits from several thousand people. This is an exceptionally rare supplement. Before the officials arrive, move quickly!"
"Understood!" the other black-clad men answered. With a flip of their hands, they produced several strange-looking banners and were about to act.
Suddenly, an unexpected change occurred. The resentful souls throughout the estate actually rose into the air of their own accord and flew together in a single direction.
"What? Do we have people nearby?" The leading man in black froze. On the continent, only their people should have been capable of freely controlling the undead.
The group exchanged glances and immediately set off toward where the souls were gathering.
At the end of the countless converging dead souls, a ragged boy laughed and danced like a madman. Completely unaware, his bloodshot double pupils radiated a dazzling light, devouring every soul that gathered around him.
The few men who had silently come to investigate took in the entire scene. The black-clad men looked at one another, and the gazes visible beneath their hoods gradually transformed from initial astonishment into extreme ecstasy.
"Our sect's Holy Son has descended!"
After some thought, I decided to write a new book. Ghost of Wangchuan is temporarily on hold. I am trying to write a Douluo story instead; revising it along the original plot will be much easier, and updates will come faster too. I hope everyone enjoys it.
