The next chapter is still being polished and will be uploaded shortly. In this break, I'd like to share a few heartfelt words with everyone.
The book was just starting to gain traction, and then suddenly I release this special chapter—I feel like I've lost my mind. But after thinking it over, I still want to assure everyone first: I absolutely will not abandon this book, I will not abandon it, I will not abandon it. These four words are my promise to you, and to myself.
Although my grandmother and father's conditions have stabilized recently, the burden of life still truly rests on my shoulders alone.
I used to write novels purely out of passion. I enjoyed reading and writing, and I always wanted to turn the stories in my mind into words and share them with others who also love stories.
I finally had a day off today, so I did some accounting, but I ended up feeling a bit silent.
From May 12th when I uploaded the first chapter until today, a full two months have passed, and my total income is less than 250 yuan. That averages out to less than 4 yuan a day.
To put it bluntly, I can't even afford the electricity to keep writing. When the pressure wasn't so great, I could grit my teeth and persevere because of my passion; but looking at these numbers today, and thinking about the days ahead, I really can't hold on any longer.
I'm not posting this to elicit sympathy or pity. There are so many novelists out there, one less of me really doesn't matter. I just wanted to give everyone a heads-up: my focus now needs to shift to finding new part-time work.
Once my part-time job stabilizes, I probably won't have as much energy and time to reply to everyone's messages as I do now.
My dad will be discharged the day after tomorrow, but my grandma still needs to be observed. I am an only child, and my parents divorced years ago. Now both of them are in the hospital, and they can barely make ends meet with medical insurance.
But once she's discharged, my grandmother will be completely disabled, and the costs of caregivers, oxygen concentrators, routine checkups, and other necessary expenses... these are really hard for me to afford.
Actually, as I type these words, every single one of your comments in the comment section still comes to mind.
On either side of this small screen, we formed a real connection through a fictional story. This connection is the only warmth I can feel when facing the cold reality in the dead of night.
Therefore, I made a compromise decision. I will try my best to find part-time work, take on the responsibilities that an adult should bear, and get through the difficulties at home little by little.
But this doesn't mean I'll completely abandon this story. I'll continue updating 4000 words daily as usual.
I used to say, "I don't ask for gifts, and I don't want to be pressured to update." I think writing novels should be pure. If people read my book on this platform, I'll earn money. There's no need to be overly demanding.
Sharing my stress with everyone here occasionally is already quite unusual for me. Although it might seem like I'm playing the victim, these are real problems that I can't find anywhere else to vent to, so I can only vent while I'm writing.
But now I'm going to shamelessly say this: if you're enjoying reading my book, there's no need to send expensive gifts. You'd be better off buying yourself a bubble tea. But if you'd like, just click the free "support me with your love" button.
Thank you for reading my ramblings. Thank you for leaving a little space for my story in this restless world.
The next chapter will be available in ten minutes.
