Let Yourself Go

I anticipate that some readers will have opinions about the protagonist's personality and the plot development in this chapter, so let me state my intentions in advance: I do not intend for Wanda and her siblings to forgive Tony.

In my opinion, forcing a reconciliation is unrealistic. What I'm trying to say is that we should let go of hatred; we don't necessarily have to forgive the other person, but we must learn to forgive ourselves.

Tony, because of his past mistakes, would remember the tragedy caused by his arrogance whenever he saw the siblings.

This is both a form of revenge and a way to restrain him.

As for why the focus of the conflict is on Tony, it has already been explained earlier: he abandoned the project after developing the weapon.

Because of the protagonist's involvement, I need more conflicting storylines to complete Tony's character Arclight.

I don't want things to be as nonsensical as in a movie; I need to give an explanation for every character I create.

If one insists that both sides must be opposed and a right and wrong must be determined.

Kamar-Taj's snow-capped courtyard is tranquil and serene. A cool mountain breeze brushes against the ancient stone railings, dispelling the dust Tony has brought on his journey, but it cannot dispel the stagnant, heavy atmosphere in the courtyard.

Tony stood quietly in place, his posture humble and upright, without a trace of his usual arrogance. In his hand was a complete and well-organized evidence file, encompassing all the original data on Obadiah's illegal arms sales transactions, records of tampering with access permissions, and the illegal flow of overseas military equipment. There was no embellishment whatsoever, only the most naked and truthful truth of the past.

Wanda and Pietro stood side by side, the siblings tense, shrouded in a somber, deathly silence.

The hatred that had been ingrained in their bones for years had become the deepest imprint of their past lives. The collapsed home, the deceased parents, the despair in the ruins, and the cold, unexploded bullet bearing the Stark emblem were all etched into their very being, indelible.

Tony's sincere and heartfelt apology did not immediately evoke reconciliation in the siblings; instead, it reopened long-buried wounds, causing all the suppressed pain and resentment to surge up.

Wanda's reaction was restrained and subtle.

Her fingers clenched the hem of her clothes tightly, her knuckles turning white. Her slender body trembled slightly, and her eyes churned with pain, struggle, and complex, contradictory emotions. Hatred, like vines, entwined her heart, and the desperate scenes from the past flashed rapidly through her mind, almost breaking free of the shackles of reason.

For countless days and nights, she and Pietro were sustained by hatred. The name Stark was the source of their childhood tragedy and a persistent obsession that had haunted them for many years.

But whenever her anger was about to cross the line, she would subconsciously glance at Lynn beside her.

It was Lynn who pulled them out of the abyss, gave them a safe haven, and freed them from their tragic fate of wandering. In Kamar-Taj, they were able to practice peacefully and rebuild their lives.

She knew that Lynn had gone to great lengths to bring about this apology not to force them to forgive, but to help them break free from the shackles of hatred, reconcile with their past suffering, and truly live for themselves.

Thinking of this, Wanda forcibly suppressed the surging anger in her heart. She bit her lower lip tightly, suppressing all her agitation and resentment, and restraining all extreme emotions and actions. Even though the scars in her heart still ached, even though the hatred had not diminished, she did not want to let Lynn down, and she was unwilling to vent the extreme emotions that had been accumulating for many years in the face of this sincere redemption.

Compared to the restrained and patient Wanda, Pietro's emotions could no longer be suppressed and he completely erupted.

The gentleness in the boy's eyes vanished, leaving only intense resentment and unwillingness. He took a sudden step forward, his chest heaving violently, his breathing rapid, and his eyes blazing with barely suppressed rage.

"The truth? An apology?"

Pietro's voice trembled with extreme excitement, his tone carrying a decade's worth of pent-up sorrow and resentment, "What's the point of saying all this now?"

He stared intently at Tony, his words sharp and resentful. "Our parents will never come back! The two days and two nights we endured in the ruins when we were ten, the fear of facing death, the despair of being imprisoned by bombs bearing Stark's name—can an apology truly erase all this unforgettable pain?"

"You were unaware of the truth; the fault lies with Obadiah, whom you mentioned, and with the military for its misuse of weapons! But the weapons that caused this tragedy were developed and created by your own hand! This pain, rooted for ten years, is a legacy brought upon us by your creation!"

Pietro's questioning was sharp and direct, piercing through all the gentle pretense and presenting the cruelest reality to everyone.

"For the past few years, we've survived on this hatred! Now you've suddenly realized your mistakes and come to apologize, and you expect us to let go of everything so easily? On what grounds? Who will make up for the shattered childhood, the lost loved ones, and the agonizing days and nights?"

Faced with Pietro's impassioned rebuttal, Tony offered no defense, no rebuttal, and showed no displeasure whatsoever. With his eyelids lowered and back taut, he calmly accepted all the questions and accusations, his guilt growing ever stronger in his eyes.

He knew that the boy's anger was justified, and that this belated apology was too weak to atone for the suffering he had caused the siblings.

The atmosphere in the courtyard fell into a stalemate once again, with the deep-seated pain of the bloodshed unresolved on one side and the belated redemption of sincere repentance on the other.

Seeing this, Lynn slowly stepped forward, gently but firmly raising his hand to gently press down on Pietro, who was losing control of his emotions.

He did not forcefully suppress Pietro's anger, nor did he offer empty advice to them to be magnanimous and let go. Instead, he spoke slowly and earnestly in a calm tone.

" Pietro, I understand your anger, and I fully acknowledge your pain. Anyone would find it difficult to forgive what you've been through; you have the right to hate."

Lynn first empathized with the siblings' plight, which eased the tense atmosphere slightly.

"But you must understand that hatred is never a weapon to punish others; it will only trap you."

He looked at the agitated Pietro, then at Wanda, who remained silently struggling, and said in a calm and clear tone, "You survived the darkest years on hatred, but now that hatred is no longer a support, but a shackle. It will trap your minds, trap your future, and keep you forever living in the shadow of the ruins of Sokovia, forever bound by the pain of the past, unable to move forward."

" Tony's mistakes are undeniable, and he has never shied away from them. He has recognized his arrogance and original sin, shut down all military industries, severed all weapons supply chains, and today, he has even humbled himself to personally visit, bringing the most authentic evidence and the most sincere apology to make amends for his mistakes."

True liberation is never about holding grudges for a lifetime, nor is it about revenge. It's about letting go of the past. If your parents could know this from beyond the grave, they would never want their children to be consumed by hatred and live in perpetual suffering.

Lynn's words were gentle yet powerful, gradually calming Pietro's restless emotions and untying the most tangled knot in the hearts of the siblings.

Pietro's fierce aura slowly dissipated, his tense body gradually relaxed, and the anger in his eyes faded, replaced by endless exhaustion and confusion.

He turned to look at his sister Wanda beside him and saw the struggle and relief in her eyes. He saw that she had long since shed her hostility, leaving only clarity and ease.

After a long silence, Wanda exhaled softly, suppressing the last vestige of her obsession, and whispered, "We will not forgive you."

"We don't need your apology or compensation; we just don't want to torture ourselves anymore. I want you to remember the tragedy caused by your arrogance every time you see us, and to live with guilt for the rest of your life."

Pietro's tense lips slowly relaxed. He took a deep breath, all his resentment, anger, and anger dissipating. He nodded slightly, his voice hoarse but firm. "That's right."

Tony looked up at the siblings, his eyes filled with emotion and relief. His heavy guilt eased slightly, replaced by a solemn promise.

"I never expected you would forgive me." Tony's voice was sincere and earnest, all its sharpness gone.

"I solemnly promise you that from this day forward, I will no longer evade any wrongdoing. I will use all the resources of Stark Industries to do everything in my power to find all the innocent people who have suffered because of my weapons and because of Stark's past mistakes."

"I will spend the rest of my life making up for all the debts I owe, doing my best to heal the wounds caused by me, and taking on all the responsibilities I should have borne."

This promise is open and sincere, without a trace of perfunctoriness; it is Tony's most solemn redemption for his past mistakes.

As the three of them completely let go of their obsessions and relinquished their past, the heavy atmosphere in the courtyard gradually dissipated, replaced by a sense of relief and ease.

Seeing this, Lynn smiled faintly and was completely relieved.

The knot that had troubled the Maximoff siblings for ten years was finally untied, Tony also achieved complete self-redemption, faced his original sin and mistakes, and everyone reconciled with the past.

He took a half-step back at the opportune moment, speaking in a relaxed and casual tone, so as not to disturb the rare moment of reconciliation among the three.

"It's good that you've resolved your differences; you two can talk it over."

Having said that, Lynn didn't linger. He turned and walked towards the meditation room deep inside Kamar-Taj, intending to visit the Ancient One and handle his next matters.

A cool mountain breeze swept through the courtyard, dispelling the last trace of gloom. Warm sunlight streamed down, enveloping the three relieved individuals and illuminating a new path for everyone.
