Hermione's parents came down.
They had already gone back to their room, but suddenly remembered that they had forgotten to ask if there were enough bedding in the guest room, so they turned back down and came across this scene.
The two children stood very close, their eyes darting away, their faces flushed, and an indescribable... ambiguity hung in the air!
Hermione's mother paused, her questioning gaze sweeping between the two women.
Hermione's father was also taken aback for a moment, then coughed lightly, trying to act as if nothing had happened.
Hermione was so frightened her heart nearly jumped out of her chest. She didn't know what to do with her hands and feet, her face turned pale and red, and she was so flustered that she couldn't speak coherently.
"Dad, Mom, why did you come downstairs...? I... I just came to tell Draco that he can call me if he needs anything..."
Her voice was trembling, clearly a desperate attempt to cover up her extreme panic.
"Hmm." Draco quickly composed himself. "Thanks for your trouble, Hermione."
Hermione's father cleared his throat and tried to speak naturally:
"We just came to check if the guest rooms are ready."
Hermione's mother glanced at them discreetly, then smiled and smoothed things over, "Since you're all better, we won't disturb your rest any longer. We'll go back to our rooms too."
After saying that, she gently pulled Hermione's father along and quickly walked towards the master bedroom.
Once everyone left, Hermione felt completely limp, leaning against the wall, breathing heavily, her face still burning red.
She was both ashamed and frightened, extremely flustered, afraid that her parents had just noticed something.
She glared at Draco, her eyes full of reproach, but her voice lacked any power. "It's all your fault... we almost got caught red-handed!"
Draco looked at her panicked expression and couldn't help but chuckle. "How can you blame me for everything? If you weren't so... incredibly hard to let go of, I wouldn't be like this."
Hermione was speechless, choked by the guy's shamelessness. " Draco Malfoy! Shut up! Don't say another word!"
Draco took a small half-step forward, making her heart flutter. "What are you afraid of? I think your uncle and aunt... seem to have already figured it out."
These words struck Hermione like a gentle thunderclap.
Her eyes darted nervously towards the master bedroom again and again.
"You, you're talking nonsense... They, they wouldn't..."
The more flustered she became, the more adorable Draco found her.
He simply gave up and did nothing.
"We'll find out sooner or later anyway, so what difference does it make if it's sooner or later?"
Hermione was completely stunned; her mind went blank.
The words "sooner or later we'll find out" sent a jolt through her, making her heart race uncontrollably.
She glared at Draco, biting her lip and whispering:
"Who, who wants to be with you... Don't talk nonsense! Not now! Absolutely not!"
Draco asked softly, "Why?"
Hermione was so anxious she almost stomped her foot, her voice barely audible:
"My dad will beat you to death. When I was in school, no boy dared to come near me..."
Draco chuckled softly. "I'm not afraid."
Hermione looked at him, a hint of resentment in her eyes. "We agreed on this before we came..."
Draco thought for a moment, then said apologetically, "So, it seems I broke my promise. I owe you something then."
Now that things have come to this, Hermione has no choice but to agree for the time being, hoping to at least salvage some of the losses.
She blushed and gently pushed Draco away. "Hurry up and go inside!"
Draco suppressed a laugh and gently pushed open the door to the guest room.
As soon as the door closed, Hermione hurriedly tiptoed back to her room, her footsteps as light as a startled sparrow.
As soon as she entered the room, she pressed herself firmly against the door, her heart still pounding wildly.
The room was quiet.
She leaned against the door, but her ears were unconsciously perked up, as if she could still hear the faint sounds coming from the corridor.
That scene just now kept replaying in my mind.
Each time I thought about it, my cheeks burned a little hotter.
She was lost in thought:
Did Mom and Dad really figure it out?
Has Dad already mentally cursed Draco a hundred and eighty times?
Will Mom secretly wonder about their relationship?
If she's really exposed, how will she explain herself?
They're just classmates? Who would believe that?
If we say they're not just ordinary classmates, how should we even begin?
And then there's Draco...
When we arrived at her house, she was so sensible and articulate, winning over her father and making her mother happy. She even chose such a thoughtful gift.
She slowly slid down to the ground, hugged her knees, and buried her face in them.
It's over.
Granger, you're really done for this time.
He was defeated by a boy named Draco Malfoy.
There was no sound from outside the door.
But she knew that the person in the next room was definitely laughing too.
Thinking of this, she felt both ashamed and angry. She gently pounded the door, but didn't dare to make a sound.
This afternoon nap is destined to be restless.
As soon as the couple entered the master bedroom and gently closed the door, Hermione's mother's nonchalant expression immediately crumbled, and she turned to her husband and spoke in a low voice.
"Did you see clearly in the hallway just now?"
Hermione's dad sat down on the edge of the bed, trying to appear calm. "What are you looking at? It's just the child saying a few words."
"Keep pretending, keep pretending." Hermione's mother gently tapped him.
"When has Minmin ever been so close to a boy in her life? Her face turned so red, and she was even stuttering when she spoke. Are they just ordinary classmates?"
Hermione's father paused for a moment, then relented, lowering his voice. "... It's different. This kid is much more mature than all of Minmin's previous male classmates."
"More than just composed." Hermione's mother sat down, both pleased and impressed. "Didn't you see? Just now downstairs, she was serving rice and helping with the dishes, without putting on any airs."
"The gift was so thoughtful, even the wine was to your liking. I've lived this long, and I'm very good at judging people—this child truly cares for our Minmin."
Hermione's father sighed, his fingers tapping lightly on the edge of the bed:
"I'm just worried... Minmin is too honest, and she might get hurt. That child seems to come from a wealthy family, but her background is unclear, so I have to think things through carefully."
"Whether your family is well-off or not doesn't matter; what matters is that you're a good person." Hermione's mother gently patted his hand.
"You heard it yourself, his family taught him 'self-reliance leads to abundance,' and based on that alone, his family's values are probably quite good."
"Besides, don't you know what kind of person Minmin? The fact that she brought him home shows that she really cares about him."
Hermione's father was silent for a moment, then slowly nodded:
"That's true, our girl has always been decisive! The fact that she dared to bring her back means she knows what she's doing."
"I think," Hermione's mother couldn't help but laugh, "That the two of them have been together for a while, they were just too embarrassed to tell us."
"Judging from their flustered behavior just now, weren't they just a young couple afraid of being caught by their parents?"
"So... should we just point it out?"
"What's there to reveal?" Hermione's mother gently shook her head.
"The children are grown up and have their own thoughts. It's better for them if we pretend we don't know."
"As long as that kid is truly in love with Minmin, we'll turn a blind eye."
Hermione's dad thought for a moment and then smiled:
"Fine. If he dares to bully our daughter, I'll be the first to stop him."
"You," Hermione's mother smiled helplessly, "When you were young you would stop male classmates from getting close to you, but now that a decent guy has come along, you can't bear to let him go."
"That's my daughter," Hermione's father said matter-of-factly, though his voice softened, "She's bound to be treated with more love."
The couple exchanged a glance and smiled softly.
