After a minute, Ivan discovered that his severe injuries had actually mostly healed.
This brought him no joy. Instead, he was utterly terrified.
Because this meant Wenwu really did have the ability to keep his father alive and suffering.
He was not afraid of his father dying. Death would be a release, but how hopeless would it be to remain alive, unable to die, enduring pain over and over!
Ivan now somewhat regretted being unable to stop himself from attacking earlier. He should have learned more about Wenwu's methods!
Wenwu waved for his men to take Ivan away, then summoned Razor Fist.
"My lord!" Razor Fist approached and bowed.
"How is the assembly of the production lines coming along?"
"One has been assembled, and the second is under construction," Razor Fist replied respectfully.
Wenwu nodded and turned to the five scientists. "Go help get the production line running and manufacture the first-generation armor."
"Yes, my lord!" the five scientists answered respectfully.
Wenwu nodded.
Without an intelligent system, they could not build unmanned armor. The assistance program Ivan had put together was too outdated to use at all.
Even if it could be used, in the Marvel Universe, with its countless computer experts and artificial intelligences, he would not dare casually let an AI control the armor. Manual control was still safer and more reliable.
Night fell, and London's cold rain pattered against the dome of the British Museum.
In the security monitoring room on the museum's ground floor, several guards stared listlessly at the screens.
Suddenly, a piercing burst of static blasted from the speakers. Immediately afterward, every surveillance feed turned to snow.
"What happened? A wiring fault?" A guard had just stood up when the monitoring room's heavy iron door was blasted clean off by a terrifying force!
Through the drifting dust, several Ten Rings elites in black tactical gear filed in, carrying high-tech weapons.
Their movements were swift and decisive. In an instant, they pinned the guards to the floor and taped their mouths shut.
"Mr. Klaue, perimeter security has been cleared," a squad leader reported quietly into his headset.
"Move quickly. Don't alert the London police."
Klaue's slightly hoarse yet excited voice came through the headset.
Klaue was infiltrating the museum and soon arrived outside the African exhibition area on the second floor.
He wore a sleek black trench coat and held a suppressed pistol.
Behind him, twenty fully armed Ten Rings mercenaries had already silently dealt with all the security guards.
"This is it."
Klaue looked at the vibranium hammer in the display case, its design ancient and its surface covered in grayish-brown rust spots. A glint of greed flashed in his eyes.
"Do it."
At Klaue's command, two of his men immediately stepped forward and cut through the bulletproof glass with specially made laser cutters.
With a crisp crack, Klaue took the vibranium hammer out.
He lightly tapped the head of the hammer. Having handled vibranium countless times, Klaue immediately confirmed that the hammer was made of vibranium.
He placed the hammer in a specially made alloy case.
"We have it. Pull out immediately!"
Klaue spoke into his headset, a hint of delight in his voice.
Soon, Klaue and his men swiftly withdrew from the museum.
Yet the moment they stepped through the doors, a shrill alarm rang out inside the museum!
But the alarm was already too late. By the time the police arrived, they had long since fled!
A day later, the vibranium hammer was delivered to the base in Syria and handed to Wenwu.
Wenwu looked at the vibranium hammer in his hand, which had already been polished to a brilliant shine, with great satisfaction. He immediately contacted Klaue and lavished him with praise and approval.
Wenwu had someone put the vibranium hammer away safely, then turned to Becky, who stood before him, and asked with a gentle smile, "How is life here?"
"Here, I face no discrimination, only envious looks from others. I'm very happy. Thank you, my lord!" Becky said, his face full of joy.
Wenwu nodded slightly. He knew Becky was telling the truth. In the Ten Rings, only capable people were entrusted with important roles, regardless of race. Because Becky had real ability, he received exceptionally generous treatment. Others could only envy him.
Of course, some were jealous and resentful, but they would never dare show it. In the Ten Rings, anyone who dared discriminate or bully would be whipped at best, or thrown into a pit and buried at worst!
"How is your ability training going?" Wenwu asked curiously.
"My lord, I can already use sound waves to accelerate my flight. I can also use them for echolocation and to make objects resonate. My destructive power is greater than before!" Becky answered truthfully.
Wenwu nodded in satisfaction. The more proficient Becky became with his abilities, the more help he would be to him.
His only weakness was that his body was too ordinary, only slightly stronger than an average person's. Once Dr. Burstein's human enhancement technology matured, he could enhance Becky's body, or have a suit of armor made for him.
Afterward, he dismissed Becky and went alone to Dr. Burstein's laboratory.
"Have you made any progress with the research, Dr. Burstein?" Wenwu asked.
"Mr. Wenwu, I've begun to get somewhere. But your 'Chi' is a form of spiritual energy from the dimension of life. It contains a spiritual quality that makes it worlds apart from ordinary life energy.
"Artificially synthesizing this living substance would not only consume large quantities of materials, but the result would also lack that spiritual quality, greatly reducing its effectiveness!" Dr. Burstein explained rapidly.
Wenwu frowned slightly. On reflection, that made sense. His "Chi" was a form of life-origin energy that came from within himself. By practicing a secret art, he used his own essence as a seed, then absorbed nutrients to strengthen it. It was entirely different from the biological energy ordinary living creatures produced through metabolism.
"Then is the synthesized living substance useful for your human enhancement technology?" Wenwu asked the crucial question.
"Although its effects won't match your 'Chi,' according to my calculations, the enhancement success rate could reach eighty percent!" At this point, Dr. Burstein could no longer suppress his excitement.
"That's enough for me!"
Wenwu could not help smiling faintly.
An eighty percent success rate was enough for him to build a powerful army that would inspire fear!
"Will this enhancement change my genes? Will it affect my ability to receive other genetic enhancement serums later?"
Wenwu suddenly asked. If it would not change his genes or affect subsequent enhancements, he could undergo the procedure.
"Mr. Wenwu, this enhancement involves genetic mutagenesis, or genetic evolution. But your underlying genes won't change. They'll still be human genes, and it won't affect subsequent injections of enhancement serums developed through research on human physiology at all. They'll only need to be adjusted for compatibility!"
Dr. Burstein smiled and explained patiently.
Hearing this, Wenwu nodded in satisfaction. "Then synthesize enough of that living substance first. Afterward, I'll undergo the enhancement myself."
