Just as the two brothers were chatting, footsteps came from outside the office door.
Then, the door was pushed open.
Nick Fury strode in with an air of indifference.
Behind him followed Agent Coulson, who always wore a poker face.
Fury smiled slightly upon seeing the two brothers.
He came today with confidence and leverage.
Just in the last two days, the agents sent to Siberia sent back a surviving file from 1991.
To be honest, the file didn't actually specify who the murderer was, nor did it contain any specific details.
Fury himself didn't know what exactly happened in that car accident.
But that's not important.
As a cunning and shrewd intelligence chief.
He knew that all he had to do was slap this file in front of the Stark brothers and tell them that Howard's death was not an accident, but an assassination.
So, the expressions on the faces of these two Playboy who were kept in the dark must have been priceless.
It will definitely be shocking, painful, and infuriating!
At that point, he can then legitimately set his conditions.
For example, they could use S.H.I.E.L.D..'s intelligence network as bait to induce them to hand over command of the Justice League and make them obediently follow S.H.I.E.L.D..
After all, he believed that only someone like himself, who had fought for the safety of the Earth for decades, was more suitable to command these superpowered individuals.
Of course, he felt that he was also the only person on Earth who knew how many threats existed outside.
If I'm not suitable, who is?
Before he came, he had rehearsed the script in his mind countless times and even prepared a few profound words of comfort.
With that thought in mind, he strode to the coffee table, stopped, and prepared to intimidate the brothers with a profound and shocking opening statement.
However, an embarrassing scene unfolded.
Luca and Tony didn't even look at him.
At this moment, the two huddled around a tablet computer, engaged in a heated discussion.
" Tony, I told you, we have to have France for lunch. That Michelin three-star restaurant has really good foie gras."
"Bullshit! We just had France last night, and I was sick of watching it even though you didn't! For lunch, I'm going to have Italy with double cheese!"
"You have such a terrible taste! Why don't you just get lasagna from a food truck on the street?"
"Because the lasagna from the food truck didn't have white truffles flown in!"
Fury stood still, maintaining a solemn posture.
A full half minute passed before he realized the two were still arguing about what to eat, completely ignoring him!
Coulson stood behind him, looking so embarrassed he could practically dig out a Triskelion.
Fury's dark face darkened further, as if he wanted to go to the field to pick cotton right now.
Embarrassed, he coughed loudly.
"Cough cough!"
Tony frowned slightly and waved his hand.
"Can't you see we're discussing an important decision? Insurance salesmen, go to the lobby on the first floor; we don't sell insurance here. Besides, your leather jacket is too ugly; it doesn't fit the aesthetics of Stark Tower."
"Also, there are no farms here, so cotton machines are not welcome."
Fury's one eye twitched violently, but he gritted his teeth and decided not to bother with those two bastards.
Immediately afterwards, he pulled a file folder with a top-secret red stamp from his inside pocket.
"Bang!"
Fury slammed the file folder onto the coffee table.
He placed his hands on the table, leaned forward, and spoke in a compassionate tone.
" Stark, put your menus aside for now."
"I'm not here today to listen to your arguments. I've brought a truth that S.H.I.E.L.D.. painstakingly unearthed from the Siberia ice fields."
Fury stared intently at the two brothers, his voice low and hoarse.
"The truth about the deaths of Mr. Howard and Ms. Maria in 1991."
Fury stopped after saying that.
He then stared intently at Luca and Tony's faces, waiting to see expressions of astonishment and disbelief on their faces.
He had already prepared his lines; as soon as Tony asked who the killer was, he would reveal S.H.I.E.L.D..'s conditions.
However.
A second passed.
Two seconds passed.
Luca didn't even lift his eyelids, remaining leaning back on the sofa, swirling his wine glass.
Tony first looked at the file folder, then at the whiskey in his hand that was dripping with water.
The next second.
Under the shocked gazes of Fury and Coulson.
Tony picked up the file folder and placed it under his wine glass.
"Thanks, you rascal. I just happened to need a coaster; it's really hard to wipe water stains off the coffee table."
Fury's one eye widened instantly, his face completely dumbfounded.
"What... what are you doing?! This is the truth about your parents' deaths! They were assassinated! It wasn't an accident!"
"We know."
"The killer was a guy with long hair and a metal left arm. The crime scene was on a secluded highway."
Luca took a sip of his drink, his tone relaxed.
"What? S.H.I.E.L.D.. went all the way to Siberia and dug for ages, and all they found was this little bit of stuff that everyone knows about?"
Fury was stunned.
He was completely bewildered.
They knew?!
How could they possibly know?!
S.H.I.E.L.D.. has only just scratched the surface of this matter; they don't even know what the killer looks like!
How could Luca and Tony possibly know that the killer had a metal left arm?!
Fury felt like a clown, running to claim a prize with an expired lottery ticket and becoming a laughingstock.
Tony shook his head, his face full of disdain.
" Fury, is S.H.I.E.L.D..'s intelligence network updated via dial-up? We've known that for a long time! And we know it better than you do!"
"You're trying to act all high and mighty with information we already know? Do you think my IQ is as low as yours Tony Stark?"
Luca followed up with a scathing retort, each word a veiled attack.
"The cotton machine, almost twenty years old. My dad paid so much tax to you so-called official agencies every month, and then he was assassinated. And you so-called agents who claim to protect the world have spent so many years only finding a tiny bit of evidence?"
Fury paused, wanting to refute something, but didn't know what to say.
Upon seeing this, Luca sneered, his eyes filled with disdain.
"With this kind of work efficiency, you dare to use it as leverage to negotiate with me? If Stark Industries ' security department was this inefficient, I would have thrown them into the Pacific Ocean to feed the sharks long ago."
"If you ask me, Happy is more useful than you guys."
