Proud of his talent and training, he struggles to admit defeat. After losing successive sparring matches, he insists that his uncontrolled Undying Fire would reverse the result. Nevertheless, Xiao Fan’s willingness to advance through injury and his precise restraint genuinely impress him 34 38.
He places considerable weight on talent and family reputation. He argues that hard work cannot overcome the widening gap between talent grades and objects to the possibility of the Lin Family’s eldest daughter becoming someone’s concubine. History
Assessing Xiao Fan
Lin Lianshen comes to Green Leaf City on overlapping family errands. His mother privately asks him to check on Lin Xianhuo’s safety, while his father sends him to assess Xiao Fan after receiving King Star God’s favorable report 34.
His arrival becomes a fight when he sees Xiao Fan with his sister. Xiao Fan ultimately breaks his flame shield and stops a lightning-charged fist one centimeter from his forehead. Although Lin Lianshen protests that a death match would be different, he recognizes Xiao Fan’s control and combat resolve 33 34.
He then relays Lin Wugui’s condition for approving the relationship: Xiao Fan may marry Lin Xianhuo after graduation if he helps her advance the Fire God Saber and enter the Super God Class 34.
Training and Expedition Preparations
Lin Lianshen stays at Xiao Fan’s home and joins the pair’s training. Repeated defeats force him to confront the gap between possessing powerful abilities and being able to use them effectively 35 38.
Before departure, he receives information from his father that the Fire and Flame Mystic Realm will open at the border between humans and other races. He warns his companions that both sides have agreed to unrestricted killing inside. His own objectives are to master the Undying Fire and reach Lesser Grandmaster before the class-opening battle 38.
Fire and Flame Mystic Realm
After breaking through at the entrance, Lin Lianshen enters separately from Xiao Fan and Lin Xianhuo. He trusts Xiao Fan to protect his sister and prefers not to compete with the couple over the division of spoils 39 40.
He eventually reaches a fifth-tier tempering pool at the realm’s edge. While he undergoes the agonizing process of controlling the Undying Fire, Li Qingqiu guards him. Gui Qie locates the pool and engages her, exploiting her family’s past to provoke an enraged attack 49.
