The people inside couldn't help but laugh.
Reaching the door, Su Zhou let go of her hand and said, "Hey kid, what do you think of that girl named Yugong Liuli?"
Su Hang rubbed his aching ear. "It's fine."
Su Zhou squinted and asked, "Do you like her?"
Su Hang, without blushing or skipping a beat, said, "I like it."
Su Zhou raised his fist, as big as a clay pot, and said, "Try telling another lie?"
Su Hang immediately replied honestly, "I don't like it."
Su Zhou continued, "Do you have feelings for that girl?"
"I have feelings for him." Su Hang nodded, then added, "It's just a friendly feeling, nothing romantic."
Su Zhou sneered, "We can see that the girl is in a one-sided love affair. She likes you, but you don't like her, and now you want to get married. Do you know that you'll ruin her life?"
"Grandpa, I know this isn't fair to Liuli, but right now there's no other way but to get married," Su Hang said resolutely. "Besides, she said she would be absolutely loyal to me, so I will try my best to fall in love with her and give her the love she wants."
"Liking someone isn't something you can achieve through effort," Su Zhou admonished Su Hang. "All feelings that grow over time are ultimately love at first sight. Whether you like her or not was determined from the very first meeting."
"First time meeting?" Su Hang frowned slightly. The first time he met Liuli was when he picked her up at Jiangcheng Airport. Even though he had never seen her real face, he was able to recognize her at a glance in the vast crowd.
I'm certain I haven't developed feelings for Liuli.
Su Zhou chuckled. As someone who had been through it all, he now understood his grandson's truest feelings. After all, the Su family was naturally slow to grasp emotions, and it often took a long time for them to notice something.
"Sigh, I thought that brat would become my granddaughter-in-law."
"Don't try to matchmake us!" Su Hang exclaimed. " Huyan Lan and I are just best friends and playful buddies. We have no romantic feelings for each other, so how could we possibly get married?"
Su Zhou sighed, "That brat has a fierce personality, she's passionate and decisive, and she suits our tastes in every way. With her physical attributes and your intelligence, the baby she has in the future will definitely be outstanding."
Su Hang's face darkened, and his lips twitched as he said, "Sir, you've gone off-topic. We were talking about my wedding with Liuli."
"However, that girl Liuli is quite good too," Su Zhou changed the subject. "She's gentle on the outside but strong on the inside, especially when it comes to protecting her husband, she's absolutely unwavering."
Su Hang asked impatiently, "Then do you agree to let me marry Liuli?"
Su Zhou crossed his arms, glared at her, and said, "Just because we don't agree doesn't mean you'll marry her!"
Su Hang was overjoyed. "You agreed?"
Su Zhou squinted and said, "But you have to promise me one thing."
Su Hang patted his chest and guaranteed, "I'd agree to do it for a hundred, let alone just one!"
Su Zhou held up one finger and said, "I want to see our great-grandson and great-granddaughter a year from now."
Su Hang froze, then his eyelids twitched wildly. "Sir, can we not force you?"
"What?" Su Zhou glared, his voice filled with oppressive force. "You want to be an unfilial descendant, personally severing the bloodline of the Su family?"
Feeling a heavy burden placed on his head, Su Hang hurriedly explained, "Grandpa, I will definitely continue the family bloodline and let you hold your great-grandchildren, but Liuli and I are only eighteen years old, so having children is unrealistic."
"When Liuli and I are in our twenties, when we've both achieved success in our careers and our physical functions are at their peak, it will be better for us and for the child to have a child then, don't you think?"
Su Zhou pondered for a moment, then nodded. "That makes sense."
"Phew~" Su Hang breathed a sigh of relief. The reason why his grandfather was so eager to have great-grandchildren was because the Su family had only one son per generation and few members. He desperately hoped that Su Hang could have a son to carry on the family line.
Su Zhou was persuaded. He patted Su Hang on the shoulder and warned sternly, "You brat, you better treat her well from now on. If you mistreat this young lady, I'll beat you up!"
Su Hang said sullenly, "I understand."
The two returned and went back to the reception room.
Su Zhou nodded.
Su Heng smiled knowingly, "Since Uncle Zhou agrees to this marriage, let's hold a brief wedding ceremony for the newlyweds at the Consulate General, and then complete the marriage registration procedures. Does everyone have any objections?"
Secretary Li chuckled and said, " Minister Su, isn't that an unnecessary question? The child agrees, the parents agree, how could we outsiders possibly have any objections, right, Consul Feng?"
"I wholeheartedly agree!" Consul Feng blushed, his attitude changing completely. He was joking, after all, this was a founding father with a meritorious background; if he had any objections, he must have eaten too many red beans.
"Everyone at the consulate, let's get moving!" Su Heng clapped his hands. "Let's decorate the consulate lobby to make it festive. Even though resources are limited, we have to do our best; after all, it's our own child's wedding."
" Secretary Li, you're in charge of their clothing and styling. Dress the two children up beautifully with their clothes and makeup."
"Leave it to me, Minister Su."
" Consul Feng, you're in charge of gathering people together. Get all the staff from the consulate departments together; the more people, the more lively it will be."
"Understood, Minister Su."
The consulate general was brightly lit and bustling Extraordinary activity.
A short while later, witnessed by Su Zhou, Su Heng, Consul Feng, Secretary Li, and other consulate staff, Su Hang, dressed in a white shirt, walked arm in arm with Liuli, who was wearing a wedding dress, onto the wedding vow stage.
Su Heng said in a loud voice.
"Mr. Su Hang, do you take Ms. Liuli to be your lawfully wedded wife? From this day forward, in good times and bad, in wealth and poverty, in health and sickness, will you love her, cherish her, and love her forever?"
Su Hang smiled and said, "I'm willing!"
Su Heng continued.
"Ms. Liuli, do you take Mr. Su Hang to be your lawfully wedded husband? From this day forward, in good times and in bad, in wealth and in poverty, in health and in sickness, will you always be faithful to him, love him, and understand him?"
With tears welling in her eyes and a radiant smile, Liuli declared, "I do!"
Su Heng led the applause, "Let's offer our sincerest blessings to the newlyweds!"
Thunderous applause erupted from the audience.
After a brief wedding ceremony, Su Heng and the others led Su Hang and Liuli to the marriage registration office.
Secretary Li typed on the computer, " The Hong Kong civil affairs department has processed your marriage registration. You two take a look, and if there are no problems, we'll take your marriage certificate photos, print the certificate, and affix the official seal!"
"There's... there's a problem," Liuli suddenly said, blushing.
Secretary Li tilted her head in confusion, "What's the problem?"
Liuli blushed and said, "According to our tradition, after a woman gets married, she takes her husband's surname!"
Su Hang asked in astonishment, "What does 'taking the husband's surname' mean?"
Liuli's voice was barely audible as she said, "I'm going to follow my senior's surname. From now on, I won't be called Yugong Liuli anymore, but... but..."
"The name has been changed." Secretary Li typed on the keyboard, then said meaningfully, "Miss Liuli, do you have any other questions?"
Liuli blushed and stammered, "No... nothing."
Su Heng clapped his hands and said, "Alright, you all stand behind that red backdrop, we're going to start taking our marriage certificate photos."
"Okay."
"Mmm."
Su Hang and Liuli walked to the background, standing quite a distance apart.
Consul Feng, holding a camera, waved and gestured, "Men, move closer to the women! Hey, men, move closer to the women!"
Su Hang straightened his white shirt and approached.
"Female comrades, move closer to male comrades."
Liuli, holding a bouquet of pink flowers, approached with small, quick steps.
"Men, raise your heads; women, raise your heads too."
Su Hang raised his head confidently, while Liuli raised her head shyly.
Consul Feng adjusted the camera settings and said, "There's nothing to be embarrassed about. You are a legally married couple under the witness of the state. I'll count to three, and you smile at the camera. Smile as happily as you can!"
"Three two one, laugh!"
Su Hang smiled, and Liuli smiled happily.
Click, the photo is captured.
With the buzzing of the printing machine, two red marriage certificates were printed out. Secretary Li pulled over the stamping machine, pressed it hard, and stamped the two marriage certificates with a legally binding stamp.
Mission accomplished.
Secretary Li smiled and handed over the marriage certificate, "You two take a look."
Su Hang and Liuli took it and leaned in to look at it.
Su Hang nodded. "Not bad."
"It's beautiful." A soft light shone in Liuli's crimson eyes, her heart filled with sweet happiness. This was the final ending of the girl named Liuli, rewritten by her senior, Su Hang.
No, it's Yugong Liuli.
That's not right either~ It's--
[ Su Liuli ].
