At the dinner table.
As elders Su Guihua and Su Wei naturally took the seats of honor. In accordance with the family banquet customs of Kunshan City, the right side of the host's seat is the seat of honor for distinguished guests, while the left side is the seat of honor for ordinary guests.
Su Wei greeted him warmly, " Hanghang, you and Xiao Hu sit on the right."
"Nonsense about seating arrangements! These two young people don't deserve to sit in the VIP seats." Su Guihua glared at her husband, then immediately changed her expression like a Sichuan opera performer, saying ingratiatingly, " Xiaodie, you and Xiaoxiao sit on the right."
"Thank you, Auntie. Then I won't be polite."
Feng Xiaodie was in a great mood. She smugly glanced at Yugong Hu and thought to herself, "What kind of education do you have? How dare you try to take my VIP seat? I'm the highly educated daughter-in-law that Su Guihua has chosen."
Su Wei's face turned ashen; he was losing face. He knew that it was a tradition passed down from their ancestors to have his nephew's family sit in the VIP seats at a family banquet. Now, his wife Guihua, was breaking the tradition in order to please her daughter-in-law, Feng Xiaodie.
In the past, this would have earned him the scorn of the villagers.
"Uncle, the family banquet customs in Kunshan are exactly the opposite of those in my hometown," Liuli said with a smile, pulling Su Hang's arm and taking a seat on the left. "We respect the left and the right."
"Then you two can sit on the left."
Su Wei was momentarily confused, wondering if it was true or if Yugong Hu was deliberately saving face for him.
"Where is Xiao Hu from?"
Liuli smiled and said, "[ Jiangcheng native]."
" Jiangcheng?" Su Wei searched his memory but couldn't recall Jiangcheng.
"Eat, eat, Xiaodie. See if the dishes Auntie made suit your taste." Su Guihua kept putting food on Feng Xiaodie's plate. "Auntie knows you like shrimp, so I specially made boiled shrimp for you. Try it."
"Auntie, this is too much, too much," Feng Xiaodie said, feigning surprise. "I can manage on my own."
Su Xiao, standing nearby, offered solicitously, " Xiaodie, let me peel the shrimp for you."
As her in-laws served her food and her boyfriend peeled shrimp, Feng Xiaodie's vanity was greatly satisfied. She pushed up her glasses, a smile playing on her lips, and looked at Yugong Hu across the table. Before she could even utter a laugh, she froze.
"Baby, try this pork belly."
"Baby, this braised pork knuckle looks delicious, you should try some."
"Baby, do you want some beef? I'll get you some."
Liuli kept piling food onto Su Hang's plate, and in no time, Su Hang's plate was piled high with steaming hot delicacies.
"Fox... Teacher Fox God, you eat yours, you don't need to serve me any food." Su Hang said softly, her cheeks flushed.
"What? Baby, you want to eat shrimp?" Liuli exclaimed, then picked up a boiled shrimp with her chopsticks and placed it on Su Hang's plate. Tilting her little head, she smiled and said, "Do you need me to peel the shrimp for you?"
"No need," Su Hang said softly.
Liuli puffed out her pink cheeks, her red eyes flashing with doting affection, and said, "Oh dear, I just can't do anything with you, baby. Okay, okay, I'll peel shrimp for you."
Su Hang's eyelid twitched.
Is it really okay to reply randomly after reading a read message?
"Okay, baby."
Liuli held up a peeled shrimp in one hand and said, "Open your mouth, ah~"
"Hey... hey, that's not necessary." Many envious and jealous glances fell upon Su Hang at the dinner table, making him so embarrassed he wanted to disappear into the ground.
Liuli glint flashed in her crimson eyes as she asked, "Baby, do you want me to feed you mouth-to-mouth?"
"No, no." Su Hang hurriedly opened his mouth, unable to resist, simply unable to resist. Yugong Hu, transformed into a twin-tailed loli, was even more captivating than the previous cold and elegant older sister version of the Teacher Fox God.
This made Su Xiao extremely envious. It was one thing for his cousin's girlfriend to serve him food, but to actually have her peel shrimp for him was something that would never happen to his own wife, Feng Xiaodie.
"It fits the stereotype of an inferior woman."
Feng Xiaodie pushed up her glasses, her lips curving downwards in disgust. It was obvious that Yugong Hu was a love-struck, low-educated woman who only knew how to depend on men and had no opinions of her own.
However, the man she relied on was also a good-for-nothing who was indulging in pleasures and wasting his life. It was a perfect match – a broken pot with a broken lid!
" Xiaodie, now that you've graduated with your master's degree," Su Guihua asked, "What kind of job are you planning to look for next?"
"Auntie, I studied physics in college," Feng Xiaodie said proudly, adjusting her glasses. "I'm planning to get my teacher's certificate and go back to Kunshan City to follow in my mother's footsteps and become a middle school physics teacher."
"Being a teacher is great! It's a permanent position, a secure job!" Su Guihua's eyes lit up with joy. "After you and Xiaoxiao have your child, you won't have to worry about education at all."
"Auntie, let's talk about having a baby later."
Feng Xiaodie deliberately asked, "I wonder, Xiao Hu Sister, what kind of work do you do now, or are you still in school?"
"Oh." Liuli wiped her mouth and smiled sweetly, "Sister-in-law, I've already graduated."
Feng Xiaodie chuckled and said, "High school graduate?"
"No," Liuli said, resting her chin on her hand and swirling the drink in her glass. "I graduated from university."
Upon hearing this,
Not only was Feng Xiaodie stunned.
Even Su Guihua and Su Xiao were stunned on the spot.
Feng Xiaodie squinted and asked, "How old are you?"
"Just like my baby," Liuli pinched Su Hang's cheek, smiling radiantly, "just turned eighteen this year~"
Su Hang's heart raced.
How can you lie about your age without blushing or your heart skipping a beat? And why are you playing with my cheek, Teacher Fox God?
" Xiao Hu sister, lying is bad," Feng Xiaodie teased, covering her mouth. "Which university can let you graduate at eighteen? It's probably some diploma mill, haha."
Instead of answering directly, Liuli asked, "Sister-in-law, which university did you graduate from?"
"[ Jiangzhou Institute of Technology ]."
Feng Xiaodie pushed up her glasses and said with the pride of a sparrow, "Although it's just a public second-tier university, I graduated with a master's degree in physics, which is no less than that of undergraduates from key universities."
Liuli asked in great disappointment, "Is it just a publicly funded second-tier university?"
Upon hearing this,
Su Guihua, who was listening in, bristled. She already disliked Yugong Hu, and now, with a hint of anger on her face, she said, "You little girl who graduated from some nobody university, you dare to look down on your cousin-in-law's university?"
"Exactly, exactly," Feng Xiaodie sneered. "Auntie, I even suspect she didn't attend a diploma mill; it's all made up. I've never seen a college student graduate at 18."
"Don't be angry."
Unfazed by the pressure, Liuli lowered her head and pulled out her graduation certificate from her purse. "Auntie, I didn't mean to look down on my cousin-in-law, but compared to my university, hers is practically worthless."
Su Guihua blushed and flew into a rage.
Feng Xiaodie pushed up her glasses, her eyes burning with rage.
Just as the two were about to launch a verbal and written attack...
Liuli displayed the exquisitely crafted, gold-embossed university diploma.
