However, as Luo Feng continued deeper, something strange happened.
The closer he got to the center of the lake, the denser the fog became!
In the end, the thick fog was practically a solid white wall!
It was broad daylight, with the blazing sun high overhead.
Yet not a single ray of sunlight could penetrate the fog.
Even with Luo Feng's eyesight, he could barely see a few hundred meters ahead!
Stranger still, when Luo Feng looked back,
the fog at the edge of the lake was thin.
As for the land beside the lake, it was bathed in bright sunlight, without the slightest trace of fog!
"What is this place?"
Luo Feng hovered in midair, his brows tightly furrowed.
He could clearly sense that the thick fog seemed to contain an invisible pressure that made his skin crawl.
Luo Feng then asked in his sea of consciousness:
"Teacher, take a look. Is this the island?"
In his sea of consciousness, Lin Mo had been somewhat distracted.
But after seeing the strange, thick fog through Luo Feng's eyes,
his voice suddenly grew excited.
"Fog? Thick fog that never disperses all year round?"
"Luo Feng, quick! Lower your altitude! Get down to a few meters above the water!"
Though puzzled, Luo Feng instinctively did as he was told.
He controlled his battle blade and plunged downward.
He dove straight into the depths of the fog, stopping just three or four meters above the water.
The instant he lowered his altitude,
the hairs all over Luo Feng's body stood on end.
An intensely powerful sense of danger erupted in an instant!
The lake's once mirror-calm surface exploded.
A terrifying black shadow, incredibly thick and covered in black scales and barbs,
shot out of the water like lightning, bringing with it a sickening fishy wind.
It lashed viciously at Luo Feng!
Too fast!
"This is bad!"
Luo Feng's pupils contracted sharply, and he dodged at the very limit!
A cold sweat broke out all over Luo Feng's body.
He swiftly rose higher, unable to resist complaining in his sea of consciousness:
"Teacher! What kind of rotten idea was that? You almost got me killed!"
As soon as Luo Feng finished speaking, he heard a voice in his sea of consciousness.
Lin Mo said with certainty:
"This is the place, Luo Feng. We've found it."
"The great tomb I told you about is directly beneath this island!"
Learning that they had finally found the exact location,
Luo Feng's taut nerves relaxed slightly, and a brilliant smile finally appeared on his weary face.
"Hard work really does pay off!"
At that thought, Luo Feng hesitated no longer. With a thought,
the Blood Shadow Battle Blade beneath his feet abruptly accelerated.
Braving the invisible pressure, he rapidly closed the distance to the island.
Soon, like a falling leaf,
Luo Feng landed on the island, which was completely shrouded in thick fog.
The moment he touched down, Luo Feng frowned again.
It was too quiet!
The lake outside was teeming with Lord-level Monsters.
Yet not a single insect or bird could be heard on the island, nor even the sound of wind rustling through leaves.
The dense white fog all around seemed capable of swallowing every sound and ray of light,
giving the entire island a spine-chilling, eerie air.
Luo Feng felt a prickling sensation on his back and couldn't help asking in his sea of consciousness:
"Teacher, who exactly is buried in this great tomb you mentioned? Why choose such a godforsaken place?"
"Who is it?"
Lin Mo's voice carried a trace of indifference.
"Buried in this great tomb is a martial artist from the vast universe."
Hearing the words "a martial artist from the universe,"
Luo Feng's heart gave a sudden, involuntary thump, and he felt a pang in his chest.
To rob the tomb of such a powerful expert was truly like pulling a tooth from a tiger's mouth!
However, Luo Feng's resolve had long been tempered to extraordinary toughness on the edge of life and death.
He took a deep breath, suppressed the tremor in his heart, and strode to the very center of the island.
"Time to get to work."
Luo Feng's gaze hardened, and a vast surge of Spiritual Force instantly burst from his body.
Several incomparably sharp throwing knives flew out of the hidden weapon pouch at his waist.
Under the control of his Spiritual Force, the knives instantly became highly efficient drill bits.
They pierced the ground as if cutting through tofu and began digging madly into the depths below.
Soil and rock were rapidly churned up and pulverized.
Luo Feng followed the passage carved out by the knives, steadily descending deeper underground.
Time ticked by amid the tedious digging.
The depth Luo Feng reached continued to increase.
Five thousand meters, eight thousand meters, ten thousand meters!
By the time the layer of rock above Luo Feng's head exceeded twelve thousand meters,
the surrounding temperature had risen to a frightening level.
The rock had also become incredibly hard, and the knives' digging speed had noticeably slowed.
The deeper Luo Feng dug, the stranger he found it. He couldn't help stopping to wipe away his sweat.
"Teacher, is there really a tomb down there? What normal person would build a tomb ten thousand meters underground?"
"Cut the nonsense and keep digging!"
Lin Mo also seemed to be carefully sensing something as he spoke in a tone that brooked no argument.
"The direction is definitely right. Keep going down!"
"All right."
With no other choice, Luo Feng continued driving the throwing knives onward.
Thirteen thousand meters, fourteen thousand meters.
Soon, when Luo Feng had dug more than fifteen thousand meters down,
the incredibly hard rock beneath his feet suddenly gave a sharp crack.
Immediately afterward, a vast area of ground collapsed!
Luo Feng felt the ground vanish beneath his feet, and he fell straight down.
He reacted quickly, using his Spiritual Force to lift himself and hold himself steadily in midair.
Luo Feng looked down, and his pupils suddenly contracted.
Below him was an enormous hollowed-out space deep underground!
And at the center of that immense space lay a colossal, strangely shaped spaceship, silently dormant!
Though the spaceship's surface was covered in the marks of time,
it still gave off a cold metallic sheen that made his heart tremble.
Presumably, this spaceship must be the great tomb Teacher spoke of!
Luo Feng took a deep breath and slowly descended onto the spaceship's surface.
He walked some distance around the ship and soon found a hatch on its side.
The hatch wasn't completely sealed.
It stood half open, as though silently inviting visitors inside.
Luo Feng tightened his grip on the Blood Shadow Battle Blade and carefully entered the spaceship through the half-open hatch.
Deathly silence filled the ship.
He walked forward along the entrance passage.
The floor was covered in a thick layer of dust that had accumulated over who knew how many tens of thousands of years.
At the end of the entrance passage was a spacious crossroads with passages leading left and right.
Luo Feng lightened his steps and had just entered the intersection
when he instinctively glanced down the passage to his left.
That single glance struck Luo Feng like a bolt of lightning, freezing him on the spot!
On the hard wall of the passage to his left, cast from some unknown, exotic metal,
were massive, sunken fist prints!
Luo Feng swept a glance over them and counted nine terrifyingly large fist prints.
The metal around each print was twisted and torn!
What made Luo Feng feel even more suffocated was that
a massive corpse sat on the passage floor, half propped against the wall!
