Hatake Sakumo killed Hiruzen Sarutobi and Shimura Danzō, took control of Konoha, and became the Fourth Hokage while concealing his role in their deaths. As the other nations moved toward war, he led Konoha forces to confront A and Killer B.

• Hatake Sakumo survived Shimura Danzō’s Reverse Four Symbols Seal by gaining new system powers, then destroyed Root Base and arranged for Mitokado Homura and Utatane Koharu to support his bid for Hokage.
• Hatake Sakumo became Fourth Hokage after Hiruzen Sarutobi’s death, disbanded Root, and persuaded Konoha’s leaders to blame Shimura Danzō for the murder.
• Hatake Sakumo welcomed Tsunade and Jiraiya back to Konoha, but Tsunade declined the Hokage position, and Jiraiya returned with Nagato, Konan, and Yahiko.
• Hatake Sakumo and Konoha’s leaders held a memorial for Hiruzen Sarutobi, then agreed to publicly accuse Shimura Danzō of the murder while continuing the investigation.
• Hatake Sakumo received the daimyō’s appointment and was formally inaugurated as Fourth Hokage, pledging to unite Konoha and punish anyone who caused trouble.
• Hatake Sakumo sent Orochimaru’s force to the Land of Grass and Jiraiya to face the Land of Water’s forces as tensions between the great nations escalated.
• After learning that A and Killer B were leading an army toward the Land of Fire, Hatake Sakumo left Konoha to intercept them and ordered Tsunade and Nara Shikata to guard the village.
• Hatake Sakumo’s forces met A and Killer B near the southwestern border, where Uchiha Retsu mocked the Kumogakure ninja and provoked A to activate Lightning Release Chakra Mode.
