"Why couldn't I find it? Was my method wrong?"

Hong Yun's Primordial Spirit kept racing through Buzhou Mountain. The pull guiding him grew stronger, yet he still could not pinpoint its source. Worse, a sense of foreboding lingered at the edge of his awareness.

But Hong Yun had no intention of leaving. The chance to attain the Dao was too tempting.

He could not give it up over a bad feeling.

"Heh. Is this supposed to make me give up?" A trace of contempt crossed Hong Yun's face. "My Primordial Spirit has warned me dozens of times over my years of cultivation."

"If anything, the warning proves my insight was right."

Hong Yun paid it no mind. Cultivation meant defying heaven. A warning only meant there was danger; he just had to be careful.

Far from giving up, he grew more excited. Like a donkey turning a millstone, he raced around with renewed vigor, leaving sonic booms louder than the thunder outside Buzhou Mountain.

Purple Heaven Palace.

Hong Jun sat with his eyes closed, an inscrutable smile on his face.

"Hong Yun, fortune belongs to heaven and earth. What makes you think you can claim it? You have only yourself to blame for touching what you shouldn't have."

Below him, Zhen Yuanzi slowly opened his eyes. He looked up at Hong Jun's warm expression, and for some reason, a chill rose in his heart.

"Are you ready, fellow Daoist Zhen Yuanzi?" Hong Jun glanced at him. "Let us continue our discussion of the Dao."

As Hong Jun spoke, the sounds of the Great Dao flowed from his lips. Zhen Yuanzi hurriedly gathered his thoughts, closed his eyes again, and listened intently.

The smile never left Hong Jun's face. His gaze passed through Purple Heaven Palace and swept across Hong Huang.
