Sun Fei switched to [ Paladin Mode ], and golden waves of light spread out from beneath his feet.
This light wave contained a sacred and compassionate power, like boiling water poured on snow. Wherever it passed, the eerie and cold atmosphere vanished without a trace. Sun Fei activated the Paladin skill [Prayer], and in an instant, golden light blazed forth, filling the entire underground hall and even overshadowing the light emanating from the small mountain-like treasure mountain in front. Under the cleansing power of this power, the eerie atmosphere in the hall quickly disappeared without a trace, and a compassionate and peaceful atmosphere permeated the space.
After doing all this, Sun Fei switched back to [ Sorceress Mode ].
The faint, familiar Summon from before grew stronger, like a blood relative Summon to him. And this Summon came from the dense white skeletons beneath the dark pit.
Without hesitation, Sun Fei jumped into the pit of bones.
Such a scene was nothing to Sun Fei. In the Diablo World, he had seen far too many terrifying Bloody places; those were the real Hell. Compared to that, these white skeletons seemed much more adorable.
Snap!
As he landed on the ground, Sun Fei crushed countless bones.
These skeletons have been there for about ten years. They are severely decayed, and it is clear that they were not experts in life. Their bones are soft and have long since decayed beyond recognition. However, there is no wind in this decaying space, so they have remained basically intact.
Sun Fei stomped on and crushed several skeletons, sending white bone fragments flying like dust.
"Huh? There are some tools here?"
The floating Fireball emitted a faint glow, and Sun Fei discovered something unexpected.
Beneath these bones lay a complete set of construction tools, including shovels and spades, as well as metal buttons and other items that appeared to be from decayed clothing. This immediately made Sun Fei understand the origin of the remains—they were likely slaves or craftsmen who participated in the repair and construction of this mysterious underground hall. After completing the hall's construction, they were murdered to silence them and their bodies were dumped here.
A group of pitiful people.
After reaching the bottom of the pit, the Summon intent became even more pronounced.
Sun Fei closed his eyes and carefully sensed for a minute, discovering that the fluctuation of consciousness was actually coming from behind the stone wall on one side of the pit.
Just as he was about to approach the stone wall to get a closer look, his gaze suddenly sharpened. About half a meter in front of the stone wall, amidst the pile of bones and skulls, two clear footprints had appeared out of nowhere.
The footprints were about thirty centimeters long, clearly emerging from the skull. Layers of fine, scattered bone fragments, like grains of sand, were piled up around them. Pointing the toes at the stone wall in front of him, Sun Fei crouched down to examine them closely. He was certain that these footprints were formed by the same pair of feet stepping in the same spot many times.
Who on earth would appear in this place and step on the same spot countless times?
Sun Fei pondered for a moment, then stood up and stepped onto the pair of footprints.
Ding... Click!
A barely perceptible sound of a spring being activated was heard, followed by a series of rapid creaking and groaning sounds from gears. Sun Fei felt a slight vibration beneath his feet, and then four or five silver specks of light suddenly appeared on the stone wall in front of him. These specks began to move rapidly, carving extremely beautiful arcs on the rough stone wall. The arcs quickly formed a magic circle that looked like a stone gate.
"This is..."
Before Sun Fei could even react with surprise, the magic circle began to operate naturally.
As an aura that Sun Fei was extremely familiar with circulated, the air hummed and trembled slightly, and a two-meter-tall oval ball of light, shimmering with an unusual glow, appeared before him.
Sun Fei was speechless.
This scene was all too familiar to him.
It was Teleport.
It turns out to be a town Teleport that appears after using a [ Scroll of Town Portal ] in the Diablo World.
The exact same magical fluctuations, the exact same vibrant magical light, the exact same oval shape, and that eerie blue glow... Sun Fei was absolutely certain that this was a magical Teleport. He just didn't know where stepping Teleport it would lead.
Sun Fei found things were getting more and more interesting.
The original purpose of this massacre of the Blood Blade Mercenary Corps was to avenge the years of persecution and tragic deaths of the Chambord people, but things have escalated beyond their original scope.
Summon a suit of armor and wielding the [ Colossus Blade ] and [ Mythical Sword ], Sun Fei stepped into the Teleport without much hesitation.
The next instant, a dimly lit space appeared before Sun Fei's eyes.
Before I could even take a good look at the space, all I could see were skeletons.
A golden skeleton.
Unlike the decaying, fragile skeletons of the dead craftsmen seen in the dark pit, this skeleton was as if it were made of pure gold, shimmering with a dazzling, blinding golden light. The skeleton was large, much shorter than the skeletons of ordinary people, only about 1.2 meters tall, roughly reaching the waist of an average person. The skeleton remained intact, standing there quietly, its upper limbs hanging down, supporting a double-edged battle axe that shimmered with crimson flames, as if guarding something.
"Damn it! The mercenary group is finished... Luckily, I was prepared!"
Amidst the raging flames, [ Earth Tiger ] Cahill, one of the six great generals of the Blood Blade, glanced longingly at the building being devoured by the merciless flames, then turned and led more than twenty of his trusted men, carrying the treasures they had secretly accumulated, and fled wildly along the western alley.
The headquarters of the Blood Blade Mercenary Corps occupies a large area, surrounded by tall buildings resembling city walls, with only four alleyways leading outwards.
As they were about to emerge from the narrow, twenty-meter-long alley, [ Earth Tiger ] Cahill and his confidants wore expressions of relief, as if they had just escaped a disaster.
Once they stepped out of this alley, they, who were intimately familiar with the capital's terrain, would vanish without a trace, like drops of water flowing into the ocean. Snakes have their paths, rats have theirs; having lived in the capital for over a decade, these ruthless outlaws had each prepared an escape route for themselves, and they were fully confident in escaping the pursuit of any force.
"Hurry up and catch up... Oh, and Andy, did you bring those two little wench?" [ Earth Tiger ] Cahill asked in a low voice, his steps hurried.
"Boss, don't worry, we've got them all." A short, thin mercenary wearing an eyepatch replied with a low, sinister grin. He and his tall, burly companion each carried a burlap sack that was constantly whimpering and struggling on their shoulders. In the moonlight overhead and the light from the distant fire, it was vaguely visible that the sacks contained living people, but their mouths seemed to be gagged, and they could only emit low, desperate whimpers.
"That's terrifying! Absolutely terrifying! Who is that terrifying mage with the demon mask? He's like a devil straight out of Hell! It's too scary! Our leader has a Five-Star Class Peak Cold Ice-Element Dou Qi and is considered a well-known expert in the capital. Yet, that demon easily beheaded him!" someone exclaimed, panicked and unsteady on their feet.
"Who cares who it is, at least we escaped... Hahaha, once we get out, we can finally vent our frustrations on these two women!" Someone was congratulating themselves on their incredible luck in surviving the ordeal.
"Shut up, all of you!" [ Earth Tiger ] Cahill turned around and hissed angrily, his expression turning cold as he said, "I still have a great use for those two women. No one is allowed to touch them, or don't blame me for being ruthless."
The Blood Blade mercenaries dared not utter a sound.
[ Earth Tiger ] Cahill then turned around and continued running wildly.
However, after taking only a few steps, he suddenly stopped fleeing, his pupils contracted sharply, and a cold sweat beaded on his forehead.
Ahead, a towering figure, impaled by a giant sword, stood silently in the shadows of the alley. His strange armor made him appear like an invincible lion emerging from a vast forest. He was draped in a hazy starlight, and his fiery red hair danced in the wind like a burning flame. His cloak fluttered in the night breeze.
A powerful and terrifying aura emanated from this figure.
Every Blood Blade mercenary felt like a fleeing mutt at first glance, while facing them was the irresistible king of beasts, whose aura, like a flood, suffocated them like a torrent.
"You... who are you?" Even someone as powerful as [ Earth Tiger ] Cahill felt the surging, powerful aura emanating from the figure opposite him and knew he was no match for him, so he couldn't help but tremble with fear.
" Blood Blade Mercenary Corps?" A clear voice came through.
"Who... who are you?" The Blood Blade mercenaries' expressions changed; the person before them had come for them.
"Is he really Blood Blade mercenary?" The voice remained clear and calm.
A series of clicking, chattering sounds filled the air as the mercenaries sensed the killing intent emanating from the figure opposite them. A feeling of utter despair washed over them. This feeling of hopelessness was something they had experienced countless times before, when they had used their power to inflict upon innocent people. Back then, they felt an intoxicating sense of power, a sense of dominance over others' fates and lives. But today, at this moment, as they experienced being dominated, they suddenly realized how terrifying this feeling truly was, a feeling that shattered their very hearts.
Second update.
I recently bought the "Little Black Room " word processing software. Tonight, my hands were shaking, and I set too many words, so I couldn't control the computer. I had to frantically type to finish, hence the lateness. Sorry.
Here's a little secret: there's an option to adjust the width of the reading area. Xiaodao found that when I adjusted it to 60%, the reading experience was really great!
