Yu Mengdi initially has long golden hair and an angelic appearance. Her transformation changes her hair to purple-black and her eyes to crimson-purple; absorbing the Narcissus Jade Muscle Bone subsequently makes her more beautiful than the idealized reflection Ming Zhao used to tempt her 44 52 53 56.

Personality

Yu Mengdi’s defining trait is envy, particularly toward women she considers more beautiful than herself. She identifies strongly with being an angel and believes she should be the most beautiful woman on Douluo Continent. Seeing Zhang Lexuan and Li Ya turns her initial admiration into jealousy and a desire to destroy their beauty 51.

Before her corruption, she conceals these feelings behind her beliefs about how an angel should behave. Ming Zhao exploits that conflict through terror, mental suppression, and suggestion. Her apparent acceptance of her “true self” occurs after he kills her companions and leaves her believing that submission is her only route to survival 52.

After becoming a Fallen Angel, she is openly flirtatious, eager for Ming Zhao’s approval, and submissive toward him. Her jealousy remains volatile: Nana’s existing place in his household immediately provokes her, but his threat to erase her selfhood reduces her to frightened obedience 53 54 58.

History

Tournament and Selection

Yu Mengdi appears among the academy competitors at the Soul Fighting Tournament. Ming Zhao recognizes her envy as a promising foundation for a Fallen Angel subordinate and secretly attaches a spiritual mark to her. He assigns her the sin of envy in his proposed group of Seven Deadly Sins followers 44.

Her academy team finishes in the top eight and begins its journey home. Using the mark, Ming Zhao intercepts its convoy and surrounds it with ghostly wedding and funeral processions 50.

Destruction of the Team and Corruption

While Yu Mengdi remains trapped by fear inside a carriage, Ming Zhao kills the accompanying teachers and students. Blood-red light dissolves her shelter, revealing that the rest of the convoy has vanished. She is the team’s only survivor 50 51 57.

Ming Zhao then displays Zhang Lexuan and Li Ya before her, redirecting her despair into envy of their beauty. After drawing out her desire to surpass every other woman, he creates a mirror containing a darkened version of herself. The reflection taunts her into embracing it; when she breaks through the mirror, it dissolves into his source energy and merges with her 51 52.

She awakens as a Fallen Angel, accepts his prepared clothing, and pledges permanent submission. Ming Zhao names her his first Divine Chosen of Original Sin and rewards her with the Narcissus Jade Muscle Bone 53.

Cultivation and Journey to Mingdu

Yu Mengdi accompanies Ming Zhao when he pursues the Sun Moon Team, kills Ma Rulong, and retrieves the Sword of Judgment. Afterward, he takes her away to absorb the Immortal Herb and orders her to learn from his cruelty 53 54.

Her mutation and the herb bring her to rank sixty. Ming Zhao subsequently helps her obtain her Sixth Soul Ring from a Dark Evil Tyrant in the Evil Demon Forest, completing her advancement to Soul Emperor 56.

They travel through a spatial gate to Mingdu and visit the Ordinary Alliance while Ming Zhao investigates Ye Guyi. Yu Mengdi does not know that he secretly marks Ye Guyi’s Sea of Consciousness. At his courtyard, her jealousy toward Nana prompts a warning that he will erase her selfhood if she interferes with his other servants; she obeys his punishment and withdraws 57 58.
