Ch. 21Monsters Assault the City

Ye Xuan sent Eula to help defend Mondstadt from a monster attack while he and Ronava discovered Fatui soldiers outside the city. He and Ronava reached the city wall, where Mondstadt's forces were fighting the monsters and the Fatui remained under watch.

  • Ye Xuan chatted with Eriri and promised to visit her world after finishing his business.
  • Amber warned Eula that unusually large numbers of Hilichurls and Abyss Mages were attacking Mondstadt, and Eula left to join the defense in Ye Xuan's clothes.
  • Ronava told Ye Xuan that many Fatui soldiers were gathered outside Mondstadt, and Ye Xuan decided they should go to the city wall.
  • Ye Xuan and Ronava changed into matching cat outfits and arrived at the wall as Lisa, Kaeya, Klee, Albedo, Fischl, Bennett, and others fought the monsters.
  • Ye Xuan watched the battle from the battlement while Ronava kept her attention on the Fatui's position.

Ch. 22The Real and Fake Defense Plans

The Fatui helped the Knights of Favonius defeat the monster horde, then used the victory to win Mondstadt’s trust while La Signora prepared a takeover. Swan and Schubert Lawrence supplied competing defense plans, and La Signora chose Swan’s as the likely genuine one before setting the operation in motion.

  • The Fatui attacked the monsters from behind, and Eula defeated the Frostarm Lawachurl to end the battle without any knight deaths.
  • Lisa let the Fatui enter Mondstadt, and rumors soon credited them with saving the city while criticizing the Knights of Favonius.
  • Lawrence reassured Swan after the fight, but Swan resented Lawrence’s new Vision and mistook his concern for showing off.
  • Lisa told Kaeya she would wait for Jean before acting against the Fatui, while Albedo secretly helped Klee plant bombs around the Goth Grand Hotel.
  • Schubert Lawrence presented La Signora with a defense plan, but Swan arrived with a different one and accused Schubert of betraying Mondstadt.
  • The Hydro Abyss Herald judged Swan’s plan more likely to be genuine, and La Signora ordered the operation to proceed while warning Schubert of the consequences if it failed.

Ch. 23Would a Hero Attack from Behind Too?

Lawrence and Swan fought off a Hydro Abyss Herald and a Pyro Abyss Mage at Mondstadt’s city gate, but Lawrence discovered too late that Swan had betrayed him. The chapter ended with Swan stabbing Lawrence from behind.

  • Lawrence found Bruce dead and narrowly dodged a surprise attack from the Hydro Abyss Herald.
  • Lawrence joined Swan in fighting the Herald, using their abilities and elemental potions to keep it at bay.
  • Lawrence froze himself and the Herald with a Cryo potion, then used his Hydro double to stab the Herald from behind.
  • A Pyro Abyss Mage freed the Herald and helped it retreat after Lawrence and Swan appeared to defeat it.
  • As Lawrence lamented Bruce’s death, Swan told him he would see Bruce again and stabbed him through the chest.

Ch. 24Kaeya's Suspicion

Ye Xuan and Ronava watched Swan dispose of Lawrence’s body and lie to Kaeya about the death. Kaeya and Lisa suspected Swan and decided to watch him, but Kaeya found nothing at the roadside where Swan had stopped.

  • Ye Xuan told Ronava that Swan’s murder of Lawrence had gained him no Wish Power, but Mondstadt’s coming political conflict would provide plenty.
  • Swan dumped Lawrence’s body into Cider Lake, concealed his bloody hands, and went to report a fabricated Abyss Order attack to Kaeya.
  • Kaeya brought Swan to Lisa, who questioned the timeline and noted that Swan’s story and clean escape seemed suspicious.
  • Lisa ordered a search of Cider Lake and told Kaeya to keep Swan under observation without letting him meet anyone.
  • Kaeya followed Swan, saw him pause by the roadside before heading home, and found nothing when he checked the spot.

Ch. 25Make the Lawrence Clan Great Again

After the Abyss Herald killed nine Knights of Favonius, Kaeya blamed the Lawrence Clan to quiet public anger, sending Eula into a clash between her company and the clan’s private soldiers. Eula stood between them as Schubert demanded she choose whether the Lawrence Clan would rise again or disappear from Mondstadt.

  • Kaeya found the bodies of nine knights, and the report listed Lawrence’s fate as unknown after his body could not be found.
  • As angry citizens attacked the Knights of Favonius headquarters, Eula told Lisa, Amber, Kaeya, and Albedo that a defense map had been leaked to the Fatui and the Abyss Herald had killed the nine knights.
  • Lisa revealed that the stolen map had led to Schubert Lawrence’s residence, while Kaeya stopped her from explaining that the map was fake and said someone had to take the blame.
  • Amber stopped Eula from confronting Schubert, but Eula ran toward the Lawrence Clan grounds when she heard her Reconnaissance Company fighting the clan’s private soldiers.
  • Eula broke up the fight, then faced Schubert, who told her that the Lawrence Clan would either become great again or cease to exist in Mondstadt.

Ch. 26The Twelve Talismans and the Fairy Wand

Ye Xuan obtained the twelve zodiac talismans, the Star Wand, and fifty-three Clow Cards, then went to rescue Eula after the Lawrence Clan captured her reconnaissance company. He confronted the hostile crowd and hurled one man through the Knights of Favonius' gates.

  • Ye Xuan absorbed the twelve zodiac talismans and found the Star Wand and fifty-three Clow Cards among the summoned objects.
  • Ye Xuan left with Ronava to help Eula after deciding the timing was right.
  • Eula's reconnaissance company was captured by the Lawrence Clan's private soldiers, while the crowd accused Eula of betraying the Knights of Favonius.
  • Amber defended Eula, but Eula blamed herself as the crowd drowned Amber out.
  • Ye Xuan appeared, challenged a man who insulted him, and used the ox's power to throw him through the Knights of Favonius' gates.

Ch. 27Kaeya Alberich

Ye Xuan exposed Kaeya Alberich as a supposed Khaenri'ah spy and blamed him for turning Mondstadt against Eula. An enraged crowd stormed the Knights of Favonius headquarters, while Lisa, Albedo, and Klee escaped; Kaeya chose not to fight back as the mob seized him.

  • Ye Xuan threatened the citizens who had insulted Eula and revealed Kaeya's connection to Chlothar Alberich and the Abyss Order.
  • Ye Xuan accused Kaeya of framing Eula and concealing the deaths of nine knights, then urged the citizens to spread the revelation.
  • Kaeya examined the dead man in the entrance hall and ordered his knights to identify him and block the broken doorway.
  • The crowd stormed the Knights of Favonius headquarters, called Kaeya a traitor, and surged toward him after he hesitated to swear by Barbatos.
  • Lisa, Albedo, and Klee left through a side door for Dawn Winery while the crowd seized Kaeya, who refused to resist.
