When that uppercut made intimate contact with the Red Devil's jaw, Azazel only felt his head buzz with a deafening roar.
Like a muffled thunderclap exploding straight into his skull!
After a burst of agonizing pain, he lost consciousness entirely!
If the Red Devil could have seen what he looked like, he would surely have burst into tears and considered getting plastic surgery.
His jaw had shattered, half his face looked as though it had been blown apart by a barrel of gunpowder, all his teeth had fallen out, and his cheek had been pierced and torn open, leaving him almost unrecognizable.
Blood covered his face like water from an opened faucet, pouring out in torrents.
The sheer amount of blood made one wonder whether he might simply die from blood loss.
Frankly, the only reason the Red Devil was still alive was his formidable constitution and a certain degree of healing ability.
"That was only thirty percent of my strength."
Luke said gently.
Then!
He yanked on that tail again, dragging the Red Devil back from where he had crashed onto the ground.
This pitiful Mutant was like an insect bound tightly in spider silk, obediently falling into Luke's grasp.
His five fingers closed like iron pincers around the Red Devil's neck.
"Mutants are nothing special."
Hearing Luke's assessment, the Red Devil instinctively wanted to retort out of Mutant pride.
But when he felt the hand around his throat slowly tightening and the suffocating pressure closing in, he wisely chose to keep his mouth shut.
Having fallen into this Allied captain's clutches, the Red Devil felt for the first time just how fragile life was.
With the slightest squeeze from Luke, he would be bidding this world farewell for good.
Forget teleporting away—the Red Devil did not even dare entertain the thought of moving, afraid of provoking the other man's killing intent.
"At least you know what's good for you."
Luke carried the Red Devil, limp as a dead dog, and strode toward the dungeon.
The fighting outside had long since drawn the attention of the other Mutants.
However, they did not believe any opponent could pose a threat to Azazel, who came and went without a trace like a ghost!
These Mutants living during World War II had yet to see the superheroes who would emerge in droves in later generations. Naturally, their outlook was narrow, and they believed themselves to be the future rulers of this world.
If they had truly been smart enough, they would not have been brainwashed by Sebastian Shaw.
"Azazel!"
The woman in leather, who could release toxins, cried out when she saw the Red Devil being carried in Luke's hand, utterly unable to resist.
With a slight lift of her hands, a cloud of green mist surged toward him.
The leather-clad woman's ability was to release neurotoxic gas, inflicting indiscriminate lethal attacks over a wide area.
Had it not been necessary to ensure Mussolini's survival, the Howling Commandos in the corridor would never have held out this long.
"Pathetic."
Luke's expression did not change, and he showed no fear.
With one step, the ground trembled!
His tall figure closed in on the leather-clad woman in an instant.
Before the green smoke could reach him, it was blown apart by the pressure wave.
A casual chop to the neck made her neck droop at once as if it had been snapped.
Her vision went black, and she collapsed immediately!
The battle ended far faster than anyone had imagined.
The leather-clad woman, who could have played an enormous role on the battlefield, could not even withstand a single move from Luke before being cleanly and decisively taken down.
"You are all completely useless!"
A burly man whose entire body seemed forged from steel spoke disdainfully in a thick Russian accent.
Clearly, he was a Soviet bear, though for some reason he had become the subordinate of the Nazi scientist Sebastian Shaw.
Was he not afraid of being sent to Siberia to plant potatoes?
"If they're all useless, then how strong are you?"
Luke tossed aside the Red Devil in his hand and raised his foot, stomping down on both of the other man's legs.
Crack!
The sound of bones breaking, along with the Red Devil's agonized howl, echoed clearly through the dungeon.
Everyone who witnessed the scene felt their scalps go numb.
"You can try to run—but remember this: don't let me catch you. Otherwise, I won't be as gentle as I am now."
Luke lowered his head and looked down at the trembling Red Devil.
The latter lay sprawled on the ground, his body convulsing involuntarily from the intense pain.
Looking up at Luke, who seemed incomparably tall, Red Devil shook his head desperately, his ghastly face filled with terror.
He had no intention whatsoever of testing whether he could escape by teleporting!
This extraordinarily young Allied captain was so powerful that no one could even muster the will to fight him.
"Do you think being invulnerable to blades and bullets, with skin of steel and bones of iron, means no one can defeat you...?"
Seeing the burly man stride toward him with murderous momentum, Luke met him head-on without the slightest fear.
The two collided violently, like Mars crashing into Earth!
Boom!
A violent blast of air filled the narrow passage!
The entire space seemed to shudder. Dugan, who had been hiding behind a Maxim heavy machine gun, lost his balance and fell flat on his backside.
His face full of shock, he turned his head and said, "Right now, I really want to know whether that guy named Steve Rogers is just as... terrifying as the commander!"
Manelli wore the same horrified expression, feeling that his commander had utterly surpassed the bounds of "humanity."
The rest of the Howling Commandos were even more completely stunned by the terrifying strength Luke had displayed.
Witnessing an actual battle was entirely different from watching someone lift an off-road vehicle.
At the very least, the impact was utterly different!
"Not bad! It's rare to find a punching bag like you!"
A hint of approval appeared on Luke's face. His Steel Body, which even bullets could not pierce, collided with the burly man and gave off a harsh, muffled clang, as though struck by an iron hammer.
This was one of the few opponents who could compete with him in strength!
"You..."
The burly man's eyes widened, leaving him speechless.
Since awakening his ability at seventeen, this was the first time he had felt pain!
His numb, aching arms trembled slightly!
This man was a monster, wasn't he?!
The burly man had the same thought as several of his teammates.
Then he saw Luke laugh, excitement flashing across his face as he said, "Again!"
Don't come over here!
Before the burly man could say it aloud, Luke swung his fist, concentrating all the strength in his body into a single point.
Thud!
Like a bronze bell being struck, the burly man was sent flying.
He shot off in a fierce straight line, smashing through the thick wall of the dungeon.
The tremendous crash shook the surrounding space, nearly bringing down the sturdy passageway.
The Howling Commandos, who had been watching from the side, had already retreated toward the passage leading deeper into the dungeon, taking the terrified Mussolini with them.
They had no desire to be buried alive!
Getting caught up in a battle of this level usually never ended well.
"What kind of monster are you...?"
The burly man with the Steel Body propped himself up with both hands and staggered to his feet.
Boom! Boom! Boom!
Luke strode forward and closed in right after him.
Three consecutive punches came crashing down. Before the liquefied metal surface could restore his body, that terrifying force struck again!
"I surrender—"
The words of submission were forced back down by the several-ton force of Luke's fists. The burly man sank deep into a crater in the ground, as though he were being madly hammered by a pile driver running at full power!
Gradually, the metal shell covering his body could no longer reform, turning into a puddle of silvery liquid.
Thin streams of bright red blood seeped from the burly man's nose and mouth.
His eyes were hollow and unfocused, drained of all life.
"Uh... sorry! I was having too much fun, so I didn't hold back enough."
Luke stopped punching and said regretfully.
"That was only seventeen punches. I thought you could at least make it to twenty."
Fortunately, the burly man, who lay in the crater with his body firmly embedded in the ground, could no longer hear those words.
Otherwise, he might very well have coughed up blood in rage and died all over again!
Watching the liquid-like metal vanish, Luke sighed and raised his foot, crushing the burly man's chest.
When dealing with enemies, never forgetting to finish them off—that was the prudent way!
