Lead-gray storm clouds piled across the sky. Blazing lightning, like silver serpents, tore through the dense thunderclouds. A torrential downpour arrived without warning, bean-sized raindrops pouring from the heights and tapping softly against the glass windows.
The world beyond the window was shrouded in a hazy curtain of rain. Mist rose and spread between heaven and earth. The long, winding traffic jam on the highway and the brilliant lights of enormous billboards flickered in and out of view, like some bizarre and fantastical world.
Sean stood quietly before the enormous floor-to-ceiling window, gazing out at the dense forest of skyscrapers throughout the city. He said softly, "Hell's Kitchen's street-level heroes, along with the other four fingers of The Hand, have all begun to move."
Elektra stood before the weapons rack, drawing two unusual weapons known as "Iron Rulers" and turning them over with great interest. "Wasn't all of this within your expectations? Sowande, Murakami, Madame Gao, Bokuto—none of them are easy to deal with. Even when Alexandra was alive, they all had their own agendas and none of them accepted the others.
