Ch. 244Straying into Kuja

Luffy landed on Kuja, ate a wild boar, and caused an uproar after being mistaken for a girl and pursued across the island. As the Kuja ship returned, Vice Admiral Mole confronted the crew with headquarters’ final warning for Boa Hancock, and Snake Princess’s footsteps sounded from her chamber.

  • Luffy woke on an unknown island, followed Shakky’s Vivre Card, and ate the wild boar that had chased him.
  • Luffy ate an unfamiliar mushroom and passed out; Kuja warriors mistook him for a girl and took him for treatment.
  • Granny Nyon recognized Luffy’s gender, and he was locked up before misunderstandings led warriors to hunt him across the island.
  • Vice Admiral Mole’s marines spotted the returning Kuja Pirate Ship, and Mole killed a Sea King that attacked their warship.
  • Mole ordered the Kuja crew to stop and warned Boa Hancock that headquarters would revoke her Shichibukai title if she refused its summons again.
  • A female Kuja warrior praised Mole, but Snake Princess’s footsteps sounded from behind her closed chamber door.

Ch. 245Empress Boa Hancock Makes Her Entrance

Boa Hancock refused the Marines’ summons to help fight at Marineford, turned Mole’s crew to stone, and sailed back to Kuja territory with their cargo. On Amazon Lily, Luffy learned that Hancock was the only one with a ship and set out to find her while the Kuja warriors continued to pursue him.

  • Hancock told Mole she would keep her Shichibukai title but would not answer the Marines’ summons, and she demanded the cargo aboard his ship.
  • Hancock’s beauty enthralled Mole’s men, and she turned them to stone with Mero Mero Mellow; Mole resisted by stabbing his palm with a dagger.
  • Hancock ordered her subordinates to take the cargo and sailed away, while Mole vowed to wait for her decision.
  • Luffy was hunted across Amazon Lily, captured Marguerite, and gained some of her trust by explaining his origins and purpose.
  • Marguerite told Luffy that Hancock was the island’s only person with a ship, and Luffy headed off to find her before the warriors spotted him again.

Ch. 246Encounter

Granny Nyon learned that Hancock was summoned to Marineford and warned her that Kuja depended on her Shichibukai title, but Hancock refused to listen. Luffy accidentally interrupted Hancock’s bath, then Granny Nyon recognized him from the newspaper and helped the warriors capture him for judgment.

  • Ran gave Granny Nyon a newspaper, and Granny Nyon rushed to Hancock’s palace after reading about Ace’s execution and the Shichibukai summons.
  • Granny Nyon urged Hancock to answer the summons and protect Kuja, but Hancock threw her out of the palace.
  • Luffy escaped the warriors pursuing him, jumped into Hancock’s bath, and asked her for a ride; Hancock ordered the island to hunt him down.
  • Granny Nyon read the newspaper and learned about Luo Chen, the Straw Hat crew, and their confrontation with the Celestial Dragons.
  • Luffy stole meat from Granny Nyon’s plate, and she recognized him from the newspaper, kicked him into a wall, and watched as the warriors bound him and took him to the Execution Platform.

Ch. 247Execution

Luffy was captured on Amazon Lily and brought before Hancock, who sentenced him to death despite his claim that he had arrived by accident. As Bacura lunged to kill him, Luffy asked whether he could save the three women turned to stone and earn a ship ride by winning.

  • Ran and the other warriors restrained Luffy with snakes and carried him to the arena, while Granny Nyon followed after recognizing him from the newspaper.
  • Hancock questioned Luffy, but the audience mocked his explanation and called for his execution.
  • Marguerite and two other warriors pleaded for Luffy, and Hancock turned all three to stone before condemning them.
  • Hancock ordered the man-eating panther Bacura to attack Luffy, who asked if he could restore the women and get a ship by defeating his captors.
  • Bacura roared and leaped at Luffy as the spectators cheered.

Ch. 248The Gorgon Sisters Make Their Move

Luffy defeated Bacura and protected the three petrified women, but Hancock ordered Sonia and Marigold to kill him after he rejected her beauty. The sisters overwhelmed Luffy with their attacks, leaving him collapsed on the arena floor as Marigold’s snake-headed hair lunged to finish him.

  • Luffy struck Bacura with his stretched arm, defeating her and sending her flying into the stands.
  • Luffy condemned Hancock and the crowd for turning Marguerite and her two sisters to stone, and Hancock ordered Sonia and Marigold to kill him.
  • Luffy moved the three statues away from the arena before agreeing to fight the Gorgon Sisters.
  • Sonia and Marigold attacked Luffy with their blades, snake tail, and venom, while he struggled to understand their abilities and could not land a blow.
  • Sonia knocked Luffy to the ground, and Marigold sent her snake-headed hair to bite him as he lay unable to rise.

Ch. 249Rayleigh Arrives, Part One

Luffy fought Marigold and Sonia, using a burst of wind to clear their poisonous fumes before unleashing Conqueror's Haki when they threatened Marguerite and the other statues. He then entered Gear Second and struck Marigold with a rapid Gum-Gum JEK Bazooka.

  • Luffy dodged Marigold's Haki-enhanced attacks and Sonia's venom, then used Gum-Gum Balloon to blow the poisonous fumes out of the arena.
  • Marigold and Sonia used the stone statues of Marguerite and the others to provoke Luffy, while Sonia trapped him in her coils.
  • When Marigold threatened to smash Marguerite's statue, Luffy unknowingly unleashed Conqueror's Haki and knocked most of the arena's spectators unconscious.
  • Luffy rescued the statues, returned to the fight, and activated Gear Second.
  • Luffy rushed past Marigold and slammed both palms into her with Gum-Gum JEK Bazooka.

Ch. 250Rayleigh Arrives, Part 2

Luffy defeated Marigold and Sonia in the arena, but Marigold’s burning clothes threatened to expose the sisters’ secret until Rayleigh arrived and covered her. Rayleigh cleared the spectators with his Conqueror’s Haki, reunited with Luffy and the sisters, and faced Hancock’s demand for an explanation.

  • Luffy used Gear Second to overpower Marigold and Sonia, then tied their snake tails together and caused Sonia’s flames to burn Marigold.
  • Hancock worried that the fire would expose the secret tattoo on Marigold’s back as Rayleigh appeared beside Granny Nyon.
  • Rayleigh released his Conqueror’s Haki, knocking out the remaining spectators, then leaped into the arena and greeted Luffy.
  • Rayleigh extinguished the flames on Marigold and covered her back with his coat, while Sonia apologized and Rayleigh reassured her.
  • Hancock confronted Rayleigh and demanded to know why he had come to Amazon Lily.

Ch. 251The Reason

Rayleigh gathered Hancock, Luffy, and Gloriosa to explain that Ace would be executed in two weeks and that he had come to seek their help. He revealed Luo Chen had prompted him to investigate Ace and that Kuma had sent Luffy to Amazon Lily, while Hancock learned Luffy had struck a Celestial Dragon and reacted with unexpected forgiveness.

  • Hancock confronted Rayleigh about why he had come, then led him and the others to her bedchamber to talk privately.
  • Rayleigh told Hancock and Luffy that the Marines planned to execute Ace in two weeks, and Luffy was shocked to learn the news.
  • Rayleigh explained that Luo Chen had told him to investigate Ace's background and that Kuma had revealed Luffy's location after sending him to Amazon Lily.
  • Rayleigh said Kuma had helped Luffy and his crew escape Sabaody after Luffy struck a Celestial Dragon, and Luffy blamed his own weakness for putting his crew in danger.
  • Hancock asked Rayleigh to confirm that Luffy had struck a Celestial Dragon, then said she would forgive his offense.

Ch. 252Making a Decision

Rayleigh proposed that Hancock use her Shichibukai summons to get them to Impel Down, where they could rescue Ace. Hancock agreed and called Vice Admiral Mole to make her decision known.

  • Rayleigh suggested freeing Ace at Impel Down, but Granny Nyon pointed out that reaching it without Marine permission would be difficult.
  • Hancock asked about Luo Chen, and Rayleigh explained that he would attend the mandatory Shichibukai summons and that it could be her chance to meet him.
  • Hancock agreed to answer the Marines' summons and offered to make a trip to Impel Down a condition.
  • Hancock took the Den Den Mushi from Marigold and called Vice Admiral Mole.

Ch. 253Setting Sail

Hancock agreed to answer Marine headquarters' summons on the condition that she visit Impel Down, and she set sail with Luffy aboard Mole's warship. At Marineford, Sengoku learned that Jinbe still refused to cooperate and relied on the newly appointed Shichibukai Luo Chen to complete the forces for the coming war.

  • Hancock asked to visit Fire Fist Ace in Impel Down, and Mole referred her request to Sengoku, who approved it.
  • Hancock departed Amazon Lily as Luffy promised Marguerite and her sisters that he would save Ace.
  • Hancock boarded Mole's warship, freed the petrified Marines, and the ship set course for Impel Down.
  • Sengoku learned that Hancock had agreed to fight and that Jinbe still refused to change his stance.
  • Sengoku accepted Jinbe's refusal, counted on Luo Chen to fill out the Shichibukai forces, and reviewed the war preparations.

Ch. 254Arrival at Impel Down

Luo Chen arrived at Impel Down with Vice Admiral Romas after discussing swordsmanship with him during the voyage. They met Vice Warden Hannyabal and Domino, and Magellan finally emerged from the toilet as they waited in his office.

  • Magellan welcomed Luo Chen and Romas, while Hannyabal mocked him and was briefly poisoned before recovering with an antidote.
  • Luo Chen politely asked Magellan to take him to Ace, and Magellan arranged for the group to descend to Level 6.
  • Magellan warned Luo Chen and Romas not to speak much with the erased prisoners as they entered the level.
  • Luo Chen spotted several future members of Blackbeard's crew among the prisoners and privately anticipated their role in the Summit War.
  • Luo Chen sensed a brief flash of Observation Haki from a cell and recognized its occupant as Red the Aloof, Patrick Redfield.

Ch. 256Red Count

Luo Chen visited Impel Down, spoke with Red the Aloof about the changing pirate era, and told Ace and Jinbe that he would fight for the Navy at Marineford. After Luo Chen departed for headquarters, Rayleigh and a hungry Luffy followed Hancock’s Vivre Card toward Impel Down.

  • Luo Chen exchanged thoughts with Red the Aloof, who revealed his extraordinary Observation Haki and asked who ruled the era; Luo Chen told him about the Four Emperors and Golden Lion’s disappearance.
  • Luo Chen passed the frozen B World and reached Ace and Jinbe’s cell, where he said Ace’s pursuit of Blackbeard had helped him become a Shichibukai.
  • Luo Chen told Ace and Jinbe that he would intercept and kill Whitebeard’s forces, then left Impel Down for Navy headquarters.
  • Magellan received word that Boa Hancock and Vice Admiral Mole would soon arrive to visit Ace.
  • Rayleigh and Luffy followed Hancock’s Vivre Card toward Impel Down on a sea lion, but Luffy complained that he was hungry, so Rayleigh shared their food.

Ch. 257Setting Foot at Headquarters Again

Rayleigh dragged Luffy through the Gate of Justice underwater and continued toward Snake Princess and the others. Meanwhile, Luo Chen returned to Marineford with Vice Admiral Romas, reflected on his past and rebellious nature, and was left at headquarters as Romas went to report the mission results.

  • Rayleigh pulled Luffy away from his food and swam with him toward the closing Gate of Justice.
  • Rayleigh spotted the surveillance Visual Den Den Mushi, submerged with Luffy, and passed through the gate before it closed and whirlpools blocked their return.
  • Rayleigh asked Luffy if he was all right, then swam onward with him to catch up with Snake Princess and the others.
  • Luo Chen and his companions sailed through the Gate of Justice and docked at Crescent Bay in Marineford.
  • Luo Chen told Vice Admiral Romas that the Marines had made him a notorious pirate, but admitted that his rebellious nature might have led him to piracy anyway.
  • Vice Admiral Romas left Luo Chen at the docks and used Soru to hurry to headquarters and report the mission results.

Ch. 258Hawk-Eye Arrives

Hawk-Eye arrived to challenge Luo Chen, and the two fought in a fierce sword duel that wrecked the dock. The battle left Luo Chen exhausted while Hawk-Eye remained composed, and their clash was still underway.

  • Hawk-Eye spotted Luo Chen from his coffin-shaped boat, drew Black Blade, and challenged him to prove his strength.
  • Luo Chen drew Rain Burial and matched Hawk-Eye's enormous slash with one of his own, causing a blast that swept debris and seawater across the dock.
  • Hawk-Eye leaped ashore, and the two exchanged sword strikes; their first clash pushed Luo Chen farther back than Hawk-Eye.
  • Luo Chen attacked with Crescent Moon, but Hawk-Eye shattered it with Steel Slash and continued pressing forward.
  • The fighters traded more techniques until their blades and strength cracked the dock, while nearby marines watched helplessly.
  • Luo Chen used Asura Form, Haki, and Blood Breath to fight at full strength, but after dozens of slashes he was panting while Hawk-Eye showed no fatigue.

Ch. 259Garp Makes His Move

Luo Chen and Hawk-Eye fought near Ship No. 3, with Hawk-Eye effortlessly countering Luo Chen’s flashy attacks while advising him to strengthen his sword techniques. As their battle threatened headquarters, Sengoku sent Garp to stop them, while the Shichibukai watched and Blackbeard coveted Luo Chen’s Zoan ability.

  • Sengoku learned that Hawk-Eye and Luo Chen’s fight was shaking headquarters and ordered Garp to intervene because the Admirals were unavailable.
  • A Sengoku adjutant woke Garp, who ate his doughnuts before agreeing to go stop the fight.
  • Luo Chen attacked Hawk-Eye with dragon- and tiger-shaped slashes, but Hawk-Eye destroyed both with simple, powerful cuts and advised him to focus on strength over flashy techniques.
  • Doflamingo observed that Hawk-Eye seemed to be guiding Luo Chen, while Moria considered using their shadows to strengthen Oars.
  • Blackbeard watched Luo Chen’s battle and restrained his interest in taking his ability while he pursued the Tremor-Tremor Fruit.

Ch. 260Garp Makes His Move, Part Two

  • Garp dismissed the idea of killing Luo Chen and led him to meet Sengoku.

Ch. 261Reception

Luo Chen entered the conference room and clashed with Doflamingo, who demonstrated his control over others by attacking Moria with a Marine puppet. Luo Chen countered by taking control of the Marine himself, and Doflamingo restrained the puppet after seeing Luo Chen’s abilities.

  • Garp led Luo Chen to the conference room, where Doflamingo, Blackbeard Teach, Moria, Kuma, and Hawk-Eye were waiting.
  • Luo Chen provoked Doflamingo by calling him Joker, and Doflamingo warned him against careless words.
  • Doflamingo controlled a Marine to attack Moria, who escaped by scattering into bats and fled from the fight.
  • Blackbeard Teach watched Moria’s Shadow-Shadow Fruit ability and secretly considered taking it for himself.
  • Luo Chen used the Mind-Bewitching Curse to seize control of the Marine, overpowering Doflamingo’s strings and making the soldier attack him.
  • Doflamingo cut down the Marine, but Luo Chen made him rise and attack again; Doflamingo then stopped the puppet with Bullet String and bound him in a net.

Ch. 262The End
