"Successfully selected profession: 'Hunter'. Initial equipment has been distributed."
"Personal territory successfully generated."
The system prompts ended.
High in the sky, tens of thousands of meters up, a floating square block of earth suddenly appeared—one meter in length, width, and height.
Han Xing stood on it, feeling as if he were stepping on grass. The sheer height beneath his feet made his legs tremble uncontrollably.
A faded wooden bow had somehow appeared in his hand, and a quiver with ten wooden arrows was now strapped to his waist.
Information about the items appeared before his eyes.
[Wooden Longbow (White): Quality—Rough. Attack Power 6~8. Special Effect—None.]
[Note: A weapon crafted from oak and ox sinew. When drawn to full tension, it can cause damage to ordinary 1-star creatures.]
[Arrow x10 (White): Quality—Rough. Attack Power 1~2. Special Effect—None.]
[Note: Arrows made from sharpened wooden sticks.]
Han Xing gripped the longbow tightly. Having a weapon gave him some confidence.
Looking around, he noticed many clouds of varying sizes and colors scattered across the nearby sky.
Some clouds were as massive as mountains, while others were only as large as a table—about the same size as Han Xing's territory.
He knew how this game worked. Each of these clouds concealed a floating island. All of a player's early resources, including food and water, had to be obtained from these islands.
He had to explore other floating islands as quickly as possible to gather supplies. Otherwise, he would soon die of thirst or hunger.
Han Xing began maneuvering the square block beneath his feet forward.
After more than ten minutes, his lips were already dry.
The clouds looked close, but the actual distance was vast. At his current beginner block's speed, he could cover at most ten kilometers per hour—less than three meters per second of movement speed.
Although the territory's speed would increase as his level rose, it was still far too slow for now.
Another ten minutes passed. Han Xing finally steered his territory close to a small-looking cloud. It crackled with electric sounds from within, and a system prompt appeared: "A lively Lightning Elemental Power is brewing inside. Enter?"
Lightning Elemental Power? A monster inside?
Han Xing pondered for a moment but ultimately decided to pass.
After all, this wasn't a mobile game where he could revive after death. The system had clearly warned them: each person only had one life.
Han Xing changed direction with his small block and continued floating forward.
As he slowly approached a gray, gloomy cloud, another system prompt came: "A sinister Evil Power seems to be hidden within. Enter?"
Danger! Skip!
Han Xing shifted course again and kept drifting. Another twenty-plus minutes passed this way.
An hour had gone by since he entered the game. Steering the floating island consumed not only physical stamina but also a great deal of mental energy.
Suddenly, Han Xing saw stars flashing before his eyes, and his throat felt parched.
He glanced at his personal information. The status column had changed.
[Status: Thirsty, Mentally Fatigued.]
(Note: You need to rest as soon as possible. Driving while tired is not advisable.)
"Rest? How am I supposed to rest in a place this high up?!"
Han Xing gritted his teeth and muttered bitterly.
Even if he could overcome his fear of heights, the initial territory was only one meter wide in each direction. He couldn't even stretch his body without risking a fall.
Han Xing wasn't the only one facing this situation. Others were in even worse shape.
In less than an hour since arriving in this world, at least a million people had already fallen from the sky and lost their lives.
"No, I have to explore a floating island quickly and expand my territory!"
Han Xing shook his head, forced himself to stay alert, and scanned the nearby clouds again.
Just then, he noticed a cloud about the same size as his territory drifting up behind him. It shimmered with faint traces of green.
A few minutes later, Han Xing finally approached that cloud. A system prompt appeared: "A faint Life Force is brewing within. Enter?"
Oh? There's hope!
Joy surged in Han Xing's heart. Without hesitation, he clicked to enter.
The cloud dissipated, revealing a square patch of soil wrapped in green grass.
In the middle of the soil grew a tree less than a meter tall, yet its trunk was as thick as an adult's thigh. Its dense canopy was laden with many red fruits.
[Berry Tree: A shrub-type plant. The berries on the tree can be eaten directly, replenishing hydration and satiety.]
Han Xing felt as if he had found a lifeline. Tears of excitement nearly spilled from his eyes.
He lunged at the berry tree and began stuffing the red fruits into his mouth by the handful.
The bright red juice burst in his mouth, carrying a hint of sweet and sour flavor, like a long-awaited rain after drought.
A few berries down, the hunger and thirst in his body eased.
Han Xing counted—there were still over twenty red berries on the tree, each the size of a strawberry. If he rationed them, they could last at least two days!
Just then, the System Prompt appeared.
[Do you wish to merge this plot of land into your territory?]
Han Xing directly tapped yes.
[Merge successful. Your territory area has expanded.]
The System Prompt ended.
Han Xing noticed that his original 1m x 1m x 1m square dirt block had now become a 2m x 1m x 1m rectangular dirt block, and on one of those blocks, a Berry Tree was planted.
Now, his hunger and thirst were taken care of, but his mental state was still exhausted.
Han Xing leaned back against the Berry Tree's canopy and slowly lay down.
Half an hour later, Han Xing opened his eyes.
He had just woken up when he realized he had somehow rolled to the edge of his territory, one arm dangling in Mid-air—just a little more, and he would have fallen!
"Hiss!!!"
Han Xing sharply sucked in a breath of cold air, instantly snapping awake, waves of lingering fear washing through his heart.
"Holy Crap, can't even sleep peacefully. How are people who toss and turn supposed to survive?"
Han Xing couldn't help grumbling inwardly, while a fresh sense of crisis crept in.
Humans couldn't avoid sleep. No one could guarantee that in a sleeping state, they wouldn't unconsciously shift or roll over.
The initial territory was just that small—a slight shift, and you'd plummet from the high sky.
So, their top priority now was to explore those clouds and expand their territory area, at least to ensure their own safety.
With that thought, Han Xing looked again at the clouds around him.
He had already explored earlier—most of the clouds nearby hid dangers, meaning monsters.
Han Xing knew that to survive, he would have to face these monsters sooner or later. He might as well take the initiative while he was still in good condition.
"But for now, I can use my advantage to boost my combat power!"
