Faced with Davy Jones's accusations, all nineteen figures remained silent.
After a while, a voice rang out from within the phantom:
" Davy, your era is over."
Eight hundred years have passed; you should have disappeared completely long ago.
Even if the host body awakens now, what good will it do?
"Can you kill us?"
Davy Jones smiled.
His laughter was no longer the loud laugh he used to have; instead, it was a very soft, cold laugh.
"I don't need to kill you several times."
He stretched his shoulders, and the black mist around him surged like flames.
"One kill is enough to make it worthwhile."
Before he finished speaking, Davy Jones took a step forward.
The black lake surged up like a living thing, carrying his body forward.
The speed was so fast that Roy only saw a blur before his eyes.
The next second, Davy Jones had already rushed into the nineteen illusory figures.
"Bang!"
The first phantom was shattered by his punch, the black mist scattering and being mostly swallowed up by the darkness emanating from Davy Jones.
The remaining figures reacted instantly, scattering and unleashing a barrage of mental attacks on Davy Jones.
Some used spears, some used chains, and some used unseen spiritual threads.
Some roared with their mouths open, some shot black light from their eyes, and some had their entire bodies transform into giant arms.
Davy Jones neither dodged nor flinched.
He had no intention of hiding at all.
All mental attacks that struck him were mostly absorbed by that ancient dark power.
Even if the rest could cause damage, it would only make his figure flicker slightly.
"Eight hundred years have passed, and you haven't made any progress at all?"
Davy Jones grinned, grabbed a phantom by the neck, and crushed it.
Screams echoed in the consciousness space. The phantom was crushed and turned into black mist, which Davy Jones inhaled completely.
Roy was dumbfounded.
Any one of these nineteen consciousness entities could push him to his limit with mental pressure.
Davy Jones beat them up like they were his grandsons.
Is this the man who almost became the King of the World eight hundred years ago?
A real monster!
But Roy also noticed something.
With each phantom that Davy Jones swallowed, his own figure dimmed a little, and the color of the lake lightened.
"This guy is trading his own existence for the lives of those consciousnesses," Roy murmured.
At this moment, Davy Jones was in a bloodthirsty frenzy.
He chased after more than a dozen phantom figures, his actions causing darkness to surge and his consciousness space to be torn to shreds like a paper-thin stage.
A shadowy figure tried to retreat, but Davy Jones grabbed it and pulled it towards him.
"Trying to run?!"
The phantom was torn in two by Davy Jones, and swallowed by the black mist.
Finally, the remaining phantoms stopped running away.
They regrouped and merged together, transforming into a colossal dark giant.
The giant was so large that its top could not be seen, and its body was covered with countless eyes, making it several times more powerful than any of the previous phantoms.
The giant spoke, his voice like the wailing of ten thousand ghosts:
Davy! You no longer belong to this world! Go back to your abyss!
Davy Jones looked up at the enormous thing and suddenly laughed.
The laughter was desolate and tragic, like a ferocious beast that had been imprisoned for eight hundred years finally standing before its enemy.
"Tell me to get out?"
"You bunch of thieving scum!"
He stopped speaking and transformed into a pure black meteor, crashing into the giant.
The giant threw a punch to meet the attack.
Two forces collided at the center of the consciousness space.
Darkness exploded like a nuclear bomb, and blinding light engulfed everything.
Roy's vision was completely obscured by the white light.
He felt something cracking deep within his soul, a pain that surpassed any physical injury.
It was as if someone was tearing a piece of a puzzle from his soul, or as if something was disappearing permanently from the depths of his consciousness.
The intense light lasted for a long time.
After the white light dissipated, Roy opened his eyes.
Davy Jones's figure was shattered beyond recognition, like a piece of obsidian about to break, covered with penetrating wounds.
The dark giant was also riddled with holes, most of its eyes were shattered, and black mist was leaking out from the various gaps. It was on the verge of losing its form.
The voices of nineteen consciousnesses rang out simultaneously, filled with the madness of being driven to the brink of despair:
" Davy Jones! Roy! This isn't over yet!"
"Next time, you will all die!"
The giant exploded, turning into countless wisps of black mist, and fled Roy's consciousness space in a panic.
Davy Jones remained standing in the same spot.
His body resembled a stone statue that had been repeatedly struck, with cracks spreading from the top of his head to the soles of his feet, and black fragments constantly peeling off his body, dissipating layer by layer like weathered rock.
The black lake was so shallow that the bottom was almost visible.
Roy crawled out of the ruins of the consciousness space, feeling as if all his strength had been drained, and he trembled with every step he took.
He walked up to Davy Jones, unsure of what to say.
He was a complete stranger to this man, and the grudges from eight hundred years ago had nothing to do with him.
But just now, this person saved his life.
"Why are you helping me?" Roy asked.
Davy Jones glanced at him; his deep blue eyes were almost extinguished.
"Help you? Don't flatter yourself."
His voice was incredibly hoarse, but he still had that roguish smile on his lips.
"I was just killing my enemy."
Your body is merely a suitable battlefield.
Roy remained silent for a moment.
"Just who are those people?"
Nineteen thieves.
Davy Jones sneered.
Eight hundred years ago,
They stole my essence, took everything from me, and then built their world on the ruins.
He paused, then lowered his voice:
" Imu is merely someone they have chosen, a vessel they have created to contain and operate the core power of the Black Turn Domination."
So when the magic circle appeared, I knew they had finally gotten their chance to reap the rewards.
Countless thoughts churned in Roy's mind.
The Black Turn Domination, the Five Elders, Imu, the World Government, and even the Dark-Dark Fruit are all just a continuation of the conspiracy from eight hundred years ago.
The ones who truly orchestrated all of this were always those nineteen thieves who survived.
"They ran away," Roy said.
He escaped, but was seriously injured.
Davy Jones looked down at his hand, which was visibly crumbling.
Me too.
He was silent for a few seconds, then spoke again.
"Kid, you have the Dark-Dark Fruit, that's your luck."
If they target you today, you'll be even less likely to avoid them in the future.
As long as you're alive, they won't let you go.
"I never intended to hide," Roy said.
Davy Jones glanced at him and suddenly smiled.
"Okay. Like me."
