Wang Bin carried Wang Shanshan's corpse on his back, exhausted and terrified.

Because of the power outage, the elevator was no longer running. He could only carry the corpse downstairs via the stairwell, but the building was quite tall, so it would take him a while to get down.

I should never have lived on such a high floor, Wang Bin thought.

That was what he thought, but he had deliberately chosen a high floor back then because he believed that if he encountered a ghost, with so many floors in between, the ghost might not be able to find his home so easily.

Of course, that idea was completely wrong.

If a ghost truly came looking for him, it would not matter where he lived.

Living on the first or second floor would actually have made escape easier.

But when Wang Bin reached the last three or four floors, he sensed that something was wrong.

Heavy footsteps suddenly came from the stairwell below. Something was climbing up from downstairs.

"What?" Wang Bin jumped in fright.

He thought he had heard wrong, but when he stopped and listened carefully, he realized he had not. Footsteps really were coming from below.

"How could this be? Who's downstairs?"

He wanted to call out and ask, but he was afraid that he would receive no answer and instead draw something even more terrifying toward him.

He panicked then, because those footsteps were getting closer and closer. They were probably less than one floor away.

Wang Bin wanted to turn around and leave. Perhaps he could avoid that thing by taking another stairwell.

But just as he prepared to turn around, footsteps came from above as well. Something was descending from upstairs.

"N-No way..." Wang Bin felt utterly despairing, his whole body going weak.
