Inside Ping An Hotel.
Before he knew it, Yang Jian had fallen asleep on the sofa. Although his body allowed him to go without food, water, or sleep for long periods, after the Ghost Messenger Incident at the training base, he was still mentally exhausted. That feeling of having his nerves stretched tight, like walking a tightrope every moment, was more tiring than anything else.
It was already impressive that Yang Jian had held on this long.
After all, most Ghost Tamers remained in a rather poor mental state for extended periods.
If fear and panic led to insomnia, loss of appetite, paranoia, and a string of other symptoms, it meant that a Ghost Tamer's mental state was already nearing collapse.
Being able to eat and sleep normally meant that a person's mental state was not seriously troubled.
However, when Yang Jian had first become a Ghost Tamer, his mental state had been terrible. But as the ghosts inside his body gradually came under control—or perhaps because he had matured through numerous experiences—his own problems had improved considerably.
But that was all.
He was still being subtly influenced by the ghosts inside him, gradually losing some of his feelings and even some of the emotions normal people possessed.
Yang Jian could sleep, but some people suffered from insomnia.
Several floors below.
This was the room of the Ghost Tamer Zhang Hui.
After going through the supernatural incident at the training base with Yang Jian and the others, he had truly witnessed an unsolvable supernatural event. A dreadful shadow had been cast over his heart. He had once believed that supernatural incidents could at most threaten ordinary people, that Ghost Tamers would not face anything too serious, and that even if they could not handle it, they could still run away.
