The Ice Ant Heaven-Shaker Beast found himself in a mass burial ground. Waves of killing intent, cold as iron, kept seeping from the mounds of graves.
There was no headstone on this grave, only wild grass shooting skyward and swaying beneath the starry night sky. He was actually half-coiled around the mound.
Just as the Ice Ant Heaven-Shaker Beast lowered his head, a hand suddenly thrust out of the grave! It appeared to be a human hand, but it was already half-rotted.
In many places, stark white bones lay exposed beneath the putrid flesh. Maggots seemed to writhe through it, and the rotten hand's nails were sharp and curved, packed with foul-smelling black mud!
"The danger came from that sky-high killing intent!"
A shudder ran through the Ice Ant Heaven-Shaker Beast. He finally understood where the danger he had sensed earlier had come from: the sky-high killing intent radiating from the young cultivator. Yet saying this aloud sounded rather like stating the obvious!
Killing intent naturally meant someone wanted to kill you, and that was certainly dangerous. But for two opponents already fighting each other directly, only dangers that arose during their exchanges counted as actual threats.
