Arc 52The Qionglin Sect Raid

Li Yan sealed the Yin Mountain Beast and secured the Tianli Clan’s trust, then joined Gong Shanhe in a covert mission against the Qionglin Sect after its ambush killed the Second Elder. Disguised as Yang Youxian, Li Yan assassinated Venerable Bihai and escaped, then fought the First Island Lord alongside Gong Shanhe.

  • Li Yan sealed the awakened Yin Mountain Beast away from the wind eye, and Yan San and the Grand Elder confirmed the beast was trapped.
  • Hong Yin verified the seal, and the First Elder granted Li Yan the sixth layer of the cultivation art with later levels contingent on continued stability.
  • Li Yan defeated the Fifth Elder in a brief fight, while the Second Elder’s faction plotted to undermine him and demand more from the Qionglin Sect.
  • After Li Yan studied the sixth layer in seclusion, Li Zhaoyan’s Red Sore Bee Gu mutated and destroyed her courtyard, while Mu Sha killed a silver-cloaked man on the Lost Continent.
  • The Qionglin Sect ambushed the Second and Fifth Elders during negotiations, killing the Second Elder, and the Great Elder retaliated by damaging the sect’s defenses.
  • Li Yan disguised himself as Yang Youxian, entered the Qionglin Sect, and poisoned and killed Venerable Bihai before escaping his cave residence.
  • The First Island Lord pursued Li Yan, who revealed his Nascent Soul middle-stage strength and fought him until Gong Shanhe emerged to attack.
  • The First Island Lord trapped Li Yan, but Li Yan escaped and struck him with the Guiyi Water-Parting Spike, helping Gong Shanhe shatter his defenses and kill him.
Chapters 1276–1300 Vol. 13 Read

Ch. 1276Startled awake

Li Yan descended into the wind eye and began joining Hong Yin’s Buddhist seal with the Primordial Qi Supreme Clarity Formation to trap the Yin Mountain Beast. The beast awakened and surged toward him as Yan San and the Great Elder tried to stop its two-headed counterpart from reaching the wind eye.

  • Li Yan found the Yin Mountain Beast more than eight hundred zhang below the wind eye and stopped above it at Hong Yin’s sealing barrier.
  • Li Yan used Zhuo Lingfeng’s prayer beads and Hong Yin’s hand seals to summon Buddhist manifestations, then began laying the Primordial Qi Supreme Clarity Formation around them.
  • Yan San and the Great Elder struggled against the two-headed man in the top scholar’s red robe, and the Great Elder proposed taking turns recovering while he held their opponent off.
  • The two-headed man sensed that Li Yan had reached his true body and rushed downward, but Yan San and the Great Elder moved to block him.
  • The Yin Mountain Beast awakened while Li Yan was casting, but Li Yan ignored its questions and accelerated the formation.
  • The beast erupted upward, destroyed Li Yan’s Divine Sense, and brought its enormous head directly beneath him as Li Yan realized he was in danger.

Ch. 1277The Twists and Turns Would Eventually End

Li Yan subdued the fifth-tier Yin Mountain Beast with Hongyin’s seal and the Primordial Qi Supreme Clarity Array. He then used Hongyin’s special spell seals to move the sealed beast away from the eye of the Heavenly Eye Wind, though its destination remained uncertain.

  • The awakened Yin Mountain Beast attacked Li Yan, but Hongyin’s three-faced, eight-armed Bodhisattva manifestation struck it down and sealed it again.
  • Li Yan completed the Primordial Qi Supreme Clarity Array and used the four half-dharma manifestations to reinforce the suppression until the beast’s aura disappeared.
  • Li Yan realized the sealed beast’s golden glow could attract other creatures, and he recalled Hongyin’s explanation that her seal enclosed the beast’s body rather than the surrounding region.
  • Li Yan sent the four half-Vajrapani Bodhisattvas through Hongyin’s seal using her spell seals, which allowed them to reach the beast without damaging the seal.
  • Li Yan directed the four manifestations to push the sealed Yin Mountain Beast away from the eye of the Heavenly Eye Wind.

Ch. 1278Confirmation

Li Yan returned from sealing the fifth-tier Yinshan Beast and showed the Grand Elder and Yan San where he had hidden it beneath a formation. After confirming the seal, Yan San asked Li Yan to teach his clan how to activate the formation.

  • Li Yan found the Grand Elder waiting near the Heaven's Eye Wind, and learned that Yan San had gone down to search for him.
  • The Grand Elder explained that he and Yan San had killed the Yinshan Beast's avatar after Li Yan's seal cut it off from the wind eye's power.
  • Yan San returned, and Li Yan told him and the Grand Elder that he had sealed the fifth-tier Yinshan Beast and moved it far from the wind eye.
  • Li Yan led the two men to the hidden beast, where the seal prevented them from approaching and Yan San recognized the aura that had wounded him before.
  • Yan San asked whether they could kill the beast, but Li Yan explained that removing Hong Yin's seal would leave them facing its full strength.
  • Yan San asked how the clans could monitor the seal and then requested the method for activating the formation around it.

Ch. 1279Eagerly Awaiting

Li Yan and the others returned after sealing the fifth-tier Wind Beast, though the Grand Elder gave an unclear answer about the result. The Tianli Clan and Wind Beast leaders began withdrawing their forces and preparing to discuss what had happened.

  • Yan San accepted that Li Yan would not reveal the sealing incantations and agreed that the Grand Elder should accompany him on future visits.
  • While the Grand Elder and Li Yan were away, Gong Chenying asked Gong Shanhe to let her wait near the swamp, but he explained that it was too dangerous and would not help.
  • The Second Elder’s signal announced the return of the Grand Elder and Li Yan, and both sides gathered their forces at the front line in case fighting resumed.
  • The Grand Elder announced that the seal had succeeded, but Yan San stopped the Wind Beasts from questioning him and ordered them to return to their territories.
  • The Grand Elder called the Tianli Clan elders and Hongyin to a meeting and ordered most forces to withdraw, leaving the sealing result uncertain.

Ch. 1280Doubts (1)

Li Yan returned with Shadow Matriarch after sealing the wind beast, but the Tianli Clan elders disputed whether the seal and the beast’s identity were truly confirmed before granting him the final three layers of the Qiongqi Purgatory Art. Gong Shanhe proposed that Hongyin inspect the swamp, leaving the elders’ decision unresolved.

  • Li Yan told Qianji, Zi Kun, and Shadow Matriarch that the wind beast appeared to be completely sealed but would need years of monitoring to confirm.
  • Qianji and Zi Kun left to cultivate, while Li Yan and Shadow Matriarch headed to the Tianli Hall.
  • A-Yuan watched Li Yan leave with A-Ying and hinted at possible trouble, despite his companions warning him not to provoke Li Yan.
  • The First Elder briefed the gathered elders on the expedition, and the Fifth Elder argued that Li Yan should not receive the final three layers of the cultivation art until the seal had lasted three hundred years.
  • The Second Elder questioned whether Li Yan had truly sealed a fifth-tier Yinshan Beast, and Gong Shanhe proposed that Hongyin inspect the swamp to verify it.

Ch. 1281Doubts (II)

Li Yan negotiated with the Tianli Clan over the sealing of the fifth-tier Yin Mountain Beast, but the Fifth Elder refused to promise him the final levels of the cultivation art and proposed relocating the clan to territory offered by the Jade Grove Sect. The chapter ended with Gong Shanhe asking the Fifth Elder to mark the sect’s core territory, while the Fifth Elder hesitated.

  • Hong Yin confirmed that Li Yan and the others had sealed the fifth-tier Yin Mountain Beast and warned that its icy ghost poison made approaching it dangerous.
  • Li Yan proposed receiving the cultivation art’s later levels in stages if the seal remained intact, but the Fifth Elder resisted giving him the final three levels.
  • The Fifth Elder revealed that the Jade Grove Sect had offered the Tianli Clan seven islands in exchange for help fighting the Sea Sundering Beasts.
  • The Fifth Elder described the Sea Sundering Beasts’ strength and the Jade Grove Sect’s defenses, while the Second Elder supported sending more experts to negotiate.
  • Gong Shanhe asked the Fifth Elder to mark the Jade Grove Sect’s core territory, and the Fifth Elder hesitated.

Ch. 1282Final Decision (1)

The Tianli Clan debated the Qionglin Sect’s offer of seven islands and agreed to test the seal before granting Li Yan the next layers of the cultivation method. The First Elder asserted his authority and planned to negotiate with the Qionglin Sect, while the Second Elder questioned whether Li Yan and Gong Shanhe could restrain Yan San in his absence.

  • The Fifth Elder displayed a map showing the Qionglin Sect’s seven islands between the Tianli Clan and the Sea-Breaking Beasts, then argued that the clan could defend them.
  • The Third Elder rejected the proposal, warning that the Qionglin Sect meant to use the Tianli Clan as a shield and could trap them inside its formations.
  • The First Elder ruled that Li Yan would receive the sixth layer of the cultivation method immediately, the seventh after five years if the seal held, and the remaining method after twenty years without abnormalities.
  • The First Elder silenced the Fifth Elder with his aura, then announced that he and the Fifth Elder would negotiate with the Qionglin Sect in three months.
  • The Second Elder raised concerns about Yan San attacking while the First Elder was away, and the First Elder said Li Yan and Gong Shanhe could restrain him if necessary.
  • The Fifth Elder scoffed at the idea that Li Yan and Gong Shanhe could handle Yan San, while the Second Elder and Fourth Elder stayed silent because they had seen Li Yan trap Yan San.

Ch. 1283Final Decision (2)

Li Yan accepted the First Elder’s plan to help restrain Yan San, then defeated the Fifth Elder in one move when challenged to demonstrate his strength. As the elders reacted to the display, the Second Elder proposed taking the Fifth Elder to the Qionglin Sect immediately, leaving the First Elder and the others weighing the risks.

  • The Fifth Elder challenged Li Yan to prove he could help protect the Tianli Clan and restrain Yan San, and Li Yan agreed to fight him in the hall.
  • Li Yan swiftly sealed the Fifth Elder’s mana and knocked him against a pillar, leaving him badly shaken but alive.
  • The elders and Hongyin recognized that Li Yan’s combat strength was far greater than they had expected, while the Fifth Elder left the hall resentful.
  • The Second Elder proposed taking the Fifth Elder to the Qionglin Sect before the planned three-month wait, and the First Elder, Gong Shanhe, and the other elders considered his suggestion.

Ch. 1284Final Decision (III)

The Tianli Clan’s elders divided over the successful seal and the Second Elder’s plan to negotiate with the Qionglin Sect, while Gong Shanhe and the Grand Elder considered how to prevent a split. Li Yan and Gong Chenying left the political dispute behind to spend a quiet moment together on a mountain peak.

  • The Second Elder and Fourth Elder left the Tianli Hall to negotiate with the Qionglin Sect, while Hongyin departed and Gong Shanhe promised Li Yan the sixth level of the cultivation method.
  • In a secret chamber, the Second Elder told the Fourth and Fifth Elders that Li Yan had truly sealed the fifth-tier wind beast, but they planned to undermine the seal’s reputation and prevent Li Yan from obtaining the remaining cultivation levels.
  • The Second Elder proposed seeking islands in the Qionglin Sect’s inner region and threatened to lead his own clansmen away unless Gong Shengguang granted his faction the resources it wanted.
  • In another chamber, Gong Shanhe and the Grand Elder discussed the danger of the Second Elder splitting the clan and considered whether Gong Shanhe could accompany him to negotiations.
  • Li Yan and Gong Chenying sat together beneath a tree on a secluded mountain peak, where Gong Chenying rested her head on Li Yan’s shoulder.

Ch. 1285Different Mountains, Different Lands

Li Yan learned that the Tianli Clan’s final three levels of the Qiongqi Purgatory Art required an ancestral-land inheritance, then returned from confirming the fifth-rank Yin Mountain Beast’s seal and began preparing to cultivate the sixth level. The seal appeared stable, Gong Chenying stayed behind to train with Hongyin, and the chapter ended with a young girl resembling Zhao Min feeding a deadly second-rank Red Sore Bee Gu on Small Bamboo Peak.

  • Gong Chenying told Li Yan that the final three levels of the Qiongqi Purgatory Art had to be inherited in the Tianli Clan’s ancestral land, and she refused the Undying Nether Phoenix essence blood he offered her.
  • Three months later, Li Yan, Gong Chenying, Hongyin, the Great Elder, the Fourth Elder, and Yan San confirmed that the fifth-rank Yin Mountain Beast remained sealed, then arranged another inspection for six months later.
  • Gong Shanhe gave Li Yan the sixth-level cultivation method and said the clan would hold the Celebration A King entry ceremony if the seal remained stable for three years.
  • Gong Chenying stayed beneath the marshlands with Hongyin for cultivation training, while Li Yan returned to the clan and entered seclusion to study the sixth level of the Qiongqi Purgatory Art.
  • On Small Bamboo Peak in the Phantom Sect, a young girl resembling Zhao Min poured spiritual power into a jade box containing a second-rank Red Sore Bee Gu.

Ch. 1286Someone Sighed

Li Zhaoyan tested whether a Red Sore Bee Gu could absorb Jade Wave Heart poison, but her experiment went wrong when the Gu tricked her and stabbed her Divine Sense. The Gu consumed all the poison and mutated into a swelling, self-destructive threat inside the jade box.

  • Li Zhaoyan used an array to expose a Red Sore Bee Gu to poison from three Jade Wave Heart leaves while carefully controlling the dose.
  • The Gu slowed and appeared to die, so Li Zhaoyan stopped channeling spiritual power and sent her Divine Sense into the box.
  • The Gu revealed it had feigned death and stabbed Li Zhaoyan's Divine Sense, causing her intense pain.
  • Li Zhaoyan's reflexive surge of spiritual power emptied the jade box of the remaining poison, and the Gu disappeared into a huge red-and-black mutated form.
  • Li Zhaoyan realized the mutated Gu was showing signs of self-destruction.

Ch. 1287Someone Was Fighting

Li Zhaoyan's experiment destroyed her courtyard, and Wei Chi Tuo took her to answer for the damage. On the Lost Continent, a silver-cloaked defector searched the grasslands for Mu Sha, tearing up the earth as the hidden assassin remained out of sight.

  • Li Zhaoyan escaped her courtyard after the jade box exploded, then returned to find the courtyard reduced to ruins.
  • Wei Chi Tuo seized Li Zhaoyan and carried her to report the destruction to Wei Zhongran.
  • On the Lost Continent, a silver-cloaked man accused Mu Sha of trying to assassinate him and revealed his plan to defect to the White Devil Race with a border defense map.
  • After Mu Sha failed to emerge, the silver-cloaked man used a vast divine ability to rip up and pulverize the grassland while searching for him.

Ch. 1288Black Devil Unafraid

Mu Sha ambushed a silver-cloaked Nascent Soul cultivator, using concealed poisoned arrows, bone spurs, and a devil-patterned shield to survive their fight despite being badly injured. The silver-cloaked man remained stronger, but Mu Sha’s spinning shield redirected his staff as Mu Sha charged again.

  • The silver-cloaked man tore through the ground to flush out Mu Sha, who burst from the dust and attacked with a broadsword and shield.
  • The silver-cloaked man snapped Mu Sha’s blade and struck him with his staff, but Mu Sha endured the blow and moved in to attack.
  • Mu Sha abandoned his shield to slash at the silver-cloaked man, then turned his broken sword into a concealed launcher that fired poisoned arrows.
  • The silver-cloaked man blocked the arrows and grabbed Mu Sha by the neck, but Mu Sha’s bone spurs and raised collarbones prevented a fatal grip.
  • Mu Sha charged again with his concealed weapon revealed, while his spinning devil-patterned shield dragged the silver-cloaked man’s staff off course.

Ch. 1289A Turn in the Crisis

Mu Sha defeated the silver-cloaked Nascent Soul cultivator through a desperate feigned death and a poisoned strike, then fled while wondering about his unusual bloodline. Li Yan emerged from seclusion and learned that the Jade Forest Sect had killed the Tianli Clan’s Second Elder, leaving other elders wounded.

  • Mu Sha used the Variegated White Bone Armor to wound the silver-cloaked man, but the man battered him into the mud and appeared to kill him with his staff.
  • Mu Sha survived by protecting his vital points with the Black Devil Divine Armor, then ambushed the exhausted man with his poisoned Shadow sword and killed his Nascent Soul.
  • Mu Sha took the man’s belongings, erased the body, and escaped, wondering who his father was and why his mother would not speak of him.
  • After two years and four months of seclusion, Li Yan met Gong Shanhe and learned that the seal remained sound and the Great Elder had been injured.
  • Gong Shanhe told Li Yan that the Jade Forest Sect had killed the Second Elder and wounded the Fifth Elder, while the Great Elder had also been forced into seclusion.

Ch. 1290Help me stand guard

Gong Shanhe told Li Yan how the Jade Grove Sect betrayed the Tianli Clan, leading to the Second Elder’s death and the Great Elder’s retaliatory assault. He asked Li Yan and Hong Yin to guard the clan while he and the Third Elder went to seek revenge, and Li Yan questioned how they could overcome the sect’s defenses and powerful cultivators.

  • The Fifth Elder returned gravely wounded and revealed that the Jade Grove Sect had ambushed him and the Second Elder during negotiations; the Second Elder died despite the clan’s efforts to save him.
  • The Second Elder had destroyed his treasures and body to break the Jade Grove Sect’s array and help the Fifth Elder escape, after which the Fifth Elder carried his injured nascent soul back to the clan.
  • Gong Shanhe suppressed the Tianli Clan’s calls for immediate retaliation while the Great Elder secretly attacked the Jade Grove Sect, wounded its cultivators, shattered its Sect Protection Array, and escaped despite being injured.
  • Gong Shanhe explained that the Jade Grove Sect’s defenses had become too strong for infiltration and said he planned to go with the Third Elder to kill one of its Nascent Soul Cultivators.
  • Gong Shanhe asked Li Yan and Hong Yin to help the Fourth and Sixth Elders guard and manage the clan while he was away, and Li Yan challenged the risks and feasibility of the plan.

Ch. 1291Waiting

Li Yan agreed to accompany Gong Shanhe on a dangerous mission to infiltrate the Qionglin Sect, using his concealment and transformation abilities. At the Immortal Treasure Market, Li Yan and Gong Shanhe prepared to impersonate one of two sect cultivators, while Cao Lang and Yang Youxian arrived by sea.

  • Gong Shanhe asked Li Yan and Hongyin to guard the Tianli Clan, but Li Yan chose to go with him instead.
  • Li Yan proposed killing one of two Qionglin Sect Golden Core cultivators and taking his place, while Gong Shanhe waited outside to receive him.
  • Li Yan demonstrated that he could conceal his aura so completely that Gong Shanhe could not detect any flaw in his apparent Golden Core cultivation.
  • Li Yan and Gong Shanhe entered the Immortal Treasure Market as a thin man and a fat man, planning to approach the two Qionglin Sect cultivators who visited monthly.
  • Cao Lang and Yang Youxian traveled toward land, and Cao Lang resented Yang Youxian for taking the valuable Cloud-Floating Wind Pearl for his own connections.

Ch. 1292Waiting by the Stump (1)

Cao Lang and Yang Youxian arrived at their sect’s Treasure Sea Mountain shop and entered its hidden chamber to monitor a private negotiation. There, Li Yan, posing as Jiang Hai, tried to sell a damaged Confucian inkstone while waiting for his targets, and Shopkeeper Wu raised his offer to seven thousand spirit stones as Li Yan demanded ten thousand.

  • Cao Lang and Yang Youxian reached Treasure Sea Mountain and learned Shopkeeper Wu was receiving a guest in Earth Class Room One.
  • Yang Youxian led Cao Lang into the secret chamber, where they could listen to the shop’s private transactions.
  • Li Yan, using the name Jiang Hai, offered Shopkeeper Wu Qi Jinghong’s damaged inkstone and insisted it was a valuable Confucian magic treasure.
  • After Gong Shanhe told Li Yan that his targets had entered the shop, Li Yan pretended to abandon the deal and walked toward the door.
  • Shopkeeper Wu called Li Yan back and offered seven thousand spirit stones, but Li Yan demanded ten thousand.

Ch. 1293Waiting by the Stump (II)

Li Yan sold the inkstone to Shopkeeper Wu and claimed he had another treasure that required expert appraisal. After arranging a private meeting with Yang Youxian at Clear Lotus Inn, Li Yan subdued him and began searching his memories.

  • Shopkeeper Wu paid Li Yan ten thousand spirit stones for the inkstone and persuaded him to discuss another treasure.
  • Li Yan claimed the second treasure was worth at least fifty thousand spirit stones and required a Nascent Soul Cultivator to appraise it.
  • Shopkeeper Wu arranged for Yang Youxian to meet Li Yan at Clear Lotus Inn, where Li Yan insisted the meeting be private.
  • Yang Youxian entered Li Yan's room alone, and Li Yan sealed his cultivation and subdued him.
  • Li Yan crudely searched Yang Youxian's memories, leaving him unconscious from the pain.

Ch. 1294Borrowing the East Wind

Li Yan used a Reality-Confusing Pill to disguise himself as Yang Youxian and infiltrated the Qionglin Sect with Cao Lang. After reaching the sect’s islands, he surveyed their formations and quietly prepared an escape route.

  • Li Yan searched Yang Youxian’s memories, took his belongings, and kept him alive to avoid alerting the sect and to obtain his blood essence.
  • Li Yan transformed his face and bones with a Reality-Confusing Pill, altered his cultivation to match Yang Youxian’s, and reassured Gong Shanhe that he could activate the sect token safely.
  • Disguised as Yang Youxian, Li Yan collected the shop’s ledger and spirit stones from Shopkeeper Wu, then left with Cao Lang.
  • Li Yan told Cao Lang that a shopkeeper had refused to agree on the value of a damaged magical treasure, concealing his real dealings at the shop.
  • Four days later, Li Yan and Cao Lang reached the Qionglin Sect’s islands, where Li Yan memorized the layout and inspected the formations for a way to escape.

Ch. 1295Master, What Did You Say?

Li Yan entered the Qionglin Sect disguised as Yang Youxian and met Venerable Azure Sea, then used a poisoned inkstone to catch the Nascent Soul cultivator off guard. Venerable Azure Sea realized his disciple had been replaced, while Li Yan waited for the poison to weaken him enough to act.

  • Li Yan passed through the sect’s formation under the scrutiny of patrolling Divine Senses, then separated from Cao Lang and flew to Venerable Azure Sea’s cave residence.
  • Li Yan presented his inkstone as a damaged Confucian magical treasure and asked Venerable Azure Sea to appraise it.
  • Venerable Azure Sea examined the inkstone and recognized it as part of a set, but the poison on it began to numb his body and disrupt his control of spiritual power.
  • Venerable Azure Sea accused Li Yan of plotting against him and realized that the person posing as Yang Youxian was an impostor.
  • Li Yan pretended to be confused while explaining internally how his Muliu Puppet poison worked, then checked Venerable Azure Sea with his Divine Sense as the cultivator’s aura weakened.

Ch. 1296Sunshine in the East, Rain in the West

Li Yan, disguised as Yang Youxian, poisoned and killed Venerable Bihai inside his cave abode, then escaped through the restrictions with the Heaven-Stealing Kerchief. In a formation beneath the Qionglin Sect, a blue memorial tablet flew out, alerting the two cultivators guarding it.

  • Li Yan revealed to Venerable Bihai that he came from the Tianli Clan and tried to seal him with the Demon-Sealing Needles.
  • Venerable Bihai used a secret art to restore some magic power, fled toward the cave entrance, and sent two fish demons after Li Yan.
  • Li Yan intercepted Venerable Bihai and his sound-transmission talisman, then killed his poisoned Nascent Soul with the Guiyi Water-Parting Spike.
  • Li Yan seized Venerable Bihai's corpse and treasures, opened the cave restrictions with the Heaven-Stealing Kerchief, and escaped inside.
  • A blue memorial tablet flew out of the grand formation beneath the Qionglin Sect, startling the two Golden Core Realm cultivators on guard.

Ch. 1297With all haste, as the law commands

After the third island lord’s life tablet shattered, Qionglin Sect’s leaders investigated his death and discovered that Yang Youxian had left the sect shortly beforehand. The first island lord pursued a fleeing figure northwest while the other island lords prepared to defend the sect.

  • Two cultivators discovered the third island lord’s life tablet had shattered and sent an emergency message to the island lords.
  • The first island lord ordered the sect sealed, while the second island lord inspected the third island lord’s residence and deduced that someone familiar had attacked him.
  • The first island lord questioned patrol squads and learned that Yang Youxian had left the sect a dozen or so breaths earlier.
  • The second island lord reported that Yang Youxian had failed to return, and the fourth island lord spotted someone fleeing northwest.
  • The first island lord pursued the fugitive and ordered the second and fourth island lords to capture the other outsiders, search their souls, and guard Qionglin Sect.

Ch. 1298Sealing off the escape

Li Yan escaped the Qionglin Sect’s protective array after impersonating Yang Youxian, then fled while changing his appearance to divert suspicion. The First Island Lord pursued him and attacked with overwhelming water-based power, but Li Yan broke through the assault, leaving the two locked in battle.

  • The First Island Lord suspected that the fleeing impostor was not Yang Youxian and concluded that the intruder was likely connected to the Tianli Clan.
  • Li Yan used Yang Youxian’s blood essence and identity token to pass through the Qionglin Sect’s array, then changed his appearance and flew northwest.
  • The First Island Lord caught up and demanded Li Yan identify himself, but Li Yan revealed his Nascent Soul middle-stage aura and continued fleeing.
  • The First Island Lord raised a vast wall of seawater and hurled it at Li Yan, who broke through it with a golden Giant Sword Technique.
  • The First Island Lord reshaped the seawater into two enormous dragons and lashed them toward Li Yan.

Ch. 1299Attacks to no avail

Li Yan fought the bald, burly man in purple, dodging his water-based attacks and countering with talismans that failed to overcome the man's soul defenses. The fight left the man exposed to Gong Shanhe's ambush, as Gong Shanhe emerged from a spatial rift with a Qiongqi-like strike.

  • The bald, burly man in purple trapped Li Yan among spatial rifts and water-column dragons, but Li Yan twisted through a narrow gap and rushed him.
  • The man in purple summoned the Water-Repelling Golden-Eyed Beast from his Heaven-Merging Pearl, and Li Yan evaded its horn before fending off its attack and a barrage of water nails.
  • Li Yan spun into a golden wind column, repelled the water nails, kicked the beast away, and sent two Black Water Runes toward it and the man in purple.
  • The man in purple cut apart the rune aimed at him and resisted the soul attack, while the other rune failed to disable the Water-Repelling Golden-Eyed Beast.
  • Li Yan called out "Attack!" as Gong Shanhe emerged from a spatial rift and struck the man in purple with a Qiongqi-manifesting punch.

Ch. 1300A bitter struggle

Li Yan and Gong Shanhe fought the bald, purple-robed Nascent Soul Late Stage cultivator, whose formations separated them and nearly let him defeat Gong Shanhe. Li Yan escaped with the Heaven-Stealing Kerchief and joined Gong Shanhe’s assault, and their combined attacks killed the cultivator.

  • Gong Shanhe ambushed the bald, purple-robed man and pressed him with a relentless close-range assault while Li Yan moved to attack from behind.
  • The bald, purple-robed man trapped Li Yan in a formation, leaving Gong Shanhe to fight alone as his opponent began recovering his strength.
  • The bald, purple-robed man struck Gong Shanhe and tried to capture him, but Li Yan escaped the formation with the Heaven-Stealing Kerchief and stabbed him from behind with the Guiyi Water-Parting Spike.
  • Li Yan struck the spike with five drops of Nine Cauldrons Gui Water, stunning the bald, purple-robed man and allowing Gong Shanhe to break free and resume his assault.
  • Li Yan pierced the bald, purple-robed man through the head with a second Guiyi Water-Parting Spike as Gong Shanhe shattered his protective barrier, and the man’s body exploded.
