They had thought Li Yan would surely turn livid with anger after hearing the Second Elder's words.
They could all tell that those mosquito demon beasts were special variants. Their extreme, bone-chilling cold gave them wings like a tiger when it came to fighting the Wind Goose Beasts.
To Li Yan, they must therefore have been extremely important spirit beasts. Yet he had actually agreed with the Second Elder's suggestion.
This surprised every one of them. Li Yan was being far too accommodating. Was he really willing to pay such an enormous price and give up a precious race of demon beasts just to obtain the Qiongqi Purgatory Art?
The one most surprised by Li Yan's sudden change in attitude was naturally the Second Elder. For a moment, he was left rather bewildered, unable to tell what Li Yan meant. After a brief hesitation, however, he still nodded and answered.
"Of course. As I said earlier, our clan's Gray Cloud Eagles have suffered almost total losses. We currently have no means of defending against aerial assaults by large numbers of Wind Goose Beasts!"
"If that's the purpose, then there's no problem. I can help you defend for three months. By then, I should have results on my end as well!"
These words gave the others a rough understanding of his meaning: Li Yan had agreed to provide those mosquito demon beasts to help them defend against low-tier Wind Goose Beasts.
However, he was only willing to provide a portion of them, presumably enough to fight for three months.
After three months, Li Yan would either have returned or met with some mishap himself. Either way, there would only be that many mosquito demon beasts left behind, and there would be nothing more to discuss.
"Defend for three months? Very well..."
