The little girl in the blood-red dress did not attack again. Naturally, they could not simply stop moving forward.
If they were afraid, they could turn back now and retreat all the way to the green-light space. The higher this mountain path went, the more dangerous it would presumably become.
Yet Li Yan had not voiced one thought. Hearing it would only bring Mei Hongyu greater worry, perhaps affecting that miraculous perception of hers.
Since the little girl in the blood-red dress possessed intelligence, then if this place truly had become a wasteland due to some unknown catastrophe, as they suspected, there would be no need for her to guard it at all.
She should have been able to leave long ago. There were only two likely reasons why she had not. One was that someone had given her an absolute order, or placed a restriction upon her, forcing her to guard this place for eternity.
This was much like the Dark Spirit Demon Bat clan Li Yan had encountered beneath the sea of the Lost Continent. Before they received an order releasing them, they could only remain there and could not leave.
The other possibility was also the one Li Yan least wished to see: this place had been sealed by a powerful expert, and even someone as strong as the little girl in the blood-red dress could not escape.
Li Yan feared this possibility most of all. If that were the case, then their own hopes of leaving would likewise be vanishingly slim. He did not think himself much stronger than that little girl...
