Jin Zhiyuan's task was simple. After receiving the relevant information from his handler, he needed to pass the intelligence along as quickly as possible. He did not need to leave the city at all—he merely had to make a circuit through it.
Yet he had never known whom the intelligence was being passed to. His superiors required him to perform counter-surveillance maneuvers at forty-three shops, alley entrances, or houses, and someone above would notify him whenever those forty-three locations changed.
He had investigated some of those places before. More than half were shops, each far larger than his own, and all of them were crowded with people. The remaining smaller half consisted of alley mouths and ordinary residences.
Jin Zhiyuan did not believe that so many people could all be hidden agents of the mysterious faction. By his experience, at most a few were his companions—perhaps there was only one person concealed among them.
Still, there could not be only this many hidden agents in Haina City. It was simply impossible for him to be responsible for all of them. Perhaps among those he notified were the principal cultivators of other lines, or even the highest-ranking hidden agent in the city.
After receiving the information he passed along, they could then notify others...
Naturally, Jin Zhiyuan did not dare investigate further. If he did, his end would definitely be miserable beyond measure. He did not even know who the handler supplying him with intelligence was!
He only knew that there should be two of them. Those two people were on the same line as him; beyond that, he knew nothing.
The faction behind them controlled its hidden agents with extreme severity. Thus, whenever possible, each hidden agent knew only who they themselves were and what they were supposed to do!
