In the complex underground chambers, Suren was leading the Black Tower Alchemy Academy's trial group in a monster-hunting game.
Yet no one knew that, in the streets directly above them, a large tanker truck disguised as a water truck had pulled into a secluded alley.
Several men in black held some kind of instrument and scanned the sewer entrance, seemingly searching for something.
Before long, the instrument lit up red, and the leader of the men in black spoke.
"Have you confirmed their location?"
"Mm. The target is about two hundred meters underground and is currently exploring deeper toward the west."
"Send that Mutated Monster down."
"Yes, boss."
As they spoke, they opened the tanker's valve and inserted a pipe into the sewer entrance in the street. As the pipe writhed with a series of wet gurgles, streams of black, petroleum-like sludge slowly poured into the sewer.
The students' shooting game continued.
Suren followed at a leisurely pace. Although he had not gone this deep last time, the surrounding environment was not unfamiliar to him at all.
Apart from the subway tunnels left behind from ancient times, this underground chamber also contained many holes dug out by monsters. They extended in all directions, and no one knew where they ultimately led.
The Mutated Monsters in the sewers all had their own territories. Suren knew they were about to reach the lair of those crawling monsters, a huge space that looked like a subway hub.
"Haha. Captain Jack just shot eight more monsters, and every one was a single-shot headshot. As expected of the academy's number-one sharpshooter."
"Our team has already collected seven Cursed Materials. We've already exceeded the trial requirements!"
"Hey, Garen, your goal is way too low. Captain Jack isn't after these ordinary materials. We need higher-quality Silver Materials.
