A row of numbers appeared before his eyes.

"Ji Xun"

Strength: 0.71

Constitution: 0.58

Agility: 0.62

Spirit: 4.73

Description: Weak;

"A data panel, huh? That's pretty straightforward."

Since Ji Xun could accept the fact that he had transmigrated, he did not find this panel particularly strange.

Instead, the moment he saw the data, he began analyzing his physical condition.

The abrupt "4.73" in Mental Power was most likely related to his transmigration, or perhaps it was something innate.

But all his other attributes were far too low.

He estimated that a healthy body should have attributes around 1, yet his were only fifty to sixty percent of that. He was as weak as a sick man.

Even more alarming, while he was observing them, all of his stats were still steadily dropping?!

"You have come into contact with Curse Power Pollution. Constitution -0.002"

"You have come into contact with Curse Power Pollution. Constitution -0.001"

"Mental Erosion Immunity"

"."

"Just getting close causes continuous contamination? No wonder I'm this weak."

Ji Xun silently grumbled, immediately realizing that the Mental Pollution was like nuclear radiation, continuously inflicting damage when he stayed near it.

Obviously, he needed to get farther away from the one on the bed.

After checking himself, he found that the clothes were not his, but the body was still the familiar one.

He had transmigrated bodily, replacing the original owner, yet he had not inherited a single memory.

He glanced again at the woman beneath him. A monster was a monster, but he had to admit that it was quite beautiful.

"Heh heh."

Ji Xun mocked himself, carefully avoiding the naked corpse on the bed, afraid that something might wake it up.

Walking around bare-assed was not a good option, so he picked up the scattered clothes beneath the bed and put them on one by one.

There was a filthy tactical outfit, leather boots reinforced with hardened steel plates, a puncture-resistant tactical vest, and a crude Gas Mask. It looked like some kind of field gear. To his surprise, the equipment belt hidden beneath the clothes held two large-caliber revolvers and some ammunition.

Thinking about it, in a world with monsters, carrying a gun was nothing strange.

Ji Xun held a gun, his index finger resting lightly on the trigger as he checked the rounds. He silently remarked, "The firearms craftsmanship in this world isn't bad."

The revolver had clearly come from a small firearms workshop, with irregular traces of hand-polishing visible all over its parts.

But whether in terms of construction or steel quality, it was a fairly decent revolver.

With such a large caliber, one shot would probably turn a person's head into a smashed watermelon.

The bullets also had special silver patterns on their tips. Eighty percent of the time, those were not merely decorative, but served some special purpose.

Clearly, this gun was not only meant for dealing with humans. It was more likely meant for killing monsters.

"What kind of world is this?"

Ji Xun grew more and more curious.

Once he had the pistol in hand, he had wanted to turn around and give the one on the bed a shot.

But he dismissed the idea as soon as it arose.

If firearms could easily kill a "B-Class Calamity" monster, the original owner probably would not have died like that last night.

Although he did not know why the monster had not awakened yet, it was definitely not dead.

At least, not dead by his understanding of the word.

Leaving this room was the top priority right now.

After putting on all his equipment, Ji Xun walked to the room's exit.

It was an iron door whose complicated structure was obvious even from the inside.

The iron door was covered in rust and looked extremely old, with archaic craftsmanship. There were also several shallow dents that looked as though they had been made by violent blows. Someone had probably tried to break the door down by force, but failed.

Ji Xun pressed his ear against the door and knocked on it. The sound was dull. As expected, it was thick.

He had no intention of forcing it open, so he carefully examined the door's structure.

Fortunately, there was a ventilation slot in the door that looked like it was used to pass meals through. He pulled a dagger from its sheath and prepared to see whether he could pick the lock.

Unexpectedly, while he was tapping and probing around, he suddenly heard a series of metallic scraping sounds—click, click—from inside the iron door.

The lock actually opened by itself.

A coincidence?

Or had he touched some kind of mechanism?

Ji Xun looked back. The corpse behind him showed no movement.

Now that the door was open, no matter what was outside, he had to face it.

After considering several possible scenarios, he put on the Gas Mask and pushed the door open.

The moment it opened, what greeted him was another sealed corridor in the style of a post-apocalyptic bunker.

Gas lamps?

Those were antiques from two or three hundred years ago.

Ji Xun immediately noticed the flickering wall lamps in the corridor and began estimating the age of the building.

What was this place?

A powerful urge to learn more arose in his mind. Then another line of text appeared before his eyes.

"You have received Revelation: Alternate Dimension 'Anomaly 407 Containment Facility'"

"Calamity Level Assessed: B"

"Space Exploration Progress: 47.1%"

"Mortality Rate in This Space: 69.4%"

"Keyword: Survival"

"Mission: This is a mysterious research facility holding Mutated Monsters. You need to survive here for three days."

"Clearance Reward: Curse Energy Material and Finished Cards randomly produced within the space. The higher your exploration rating, the richer your final settlement rewards."

"."

Seeing this, Ji Xun roughly understood.

This was somewhat like a special space, perhaps a game dungeon?

However, he still knew too little about this world to accurately understand what an "Alternate Dimension" meant.

But that nearly seventy percent mortality rate... was painfully conspicuous.

The danger in this bunker most likely did not consist solely of the one lying in the room behind him. There were other threats as well.

And he was probably not the only person here.

There were others.

Before his body had even fully stepped out the door, Ji Xun's hand was already on the revolver at his waist.

He cautiously observed his surroundings.

This was a sealed passageway with no windows, seemingly part of an underground structure.

Aside from his room, there was an iron door of the same size every dozen meters or so. There were at least twenty or thirty rooms within his visible range.

"Could every one of these rooms be holding a monster?"

The instant that thought arose, Ji Xun suddenly heard the creak of a door opening. The door to the neighboring room was pushed open from the inside.

Something came out!

Ji Xun immediately went on alert. He drew his revolver like lightning and aimed at the figure darting out from the doorway.

But clearly, the person next door had already noticed someone in the corridor.

And moved even faster!

The instant they came face-to-face, both of them aimed their weapons at each other.

After recognizing the other person as human, Ji Xun, who had been a second slower in drawing his gun, did not pull the trigger.

Because the other person did not attack either.

More importantly, Ji Xun looked at the cannon barrel on the other person's right arm, aimed directly at him, and his eyelids rose slightly beneath his goggles.

What the hell was that?

A Mechanical Arm?

Or perhaps it should be called a Single Soldier Steam-Powered High-Pressure Jet Cannon?

Ji Xun did not know how to accurately describe the other person's equipment.

It was a set of Steampunk-style Mechanical Equipment. Mounted on the arm was a metal cannon barrel roughly thirty millimeters in diameter, along with finely crafted brass valves, pressure gauges, and metal bracers. Three high-pressure air tubes connected it to a small Steam Boiler on the wearer's back. There were also complex mechanical structures at the chest and leg joints, making it look somewhat like a full single-soldier Mechanical Exoskeleton.

The boiler puffed white steam with a low whine, making it obvious that this was a weapon powered by steam.

But never mind all that black-tech Mechanical Equipment.

What truly caught Ji Xun's eye was the faint shield of light surrounding the person's body.

Primitive Steampunk black tech paired with a fantastical light shield created an incredibly bizarre cognitive clash.

"Magic Punk?"

Ji Xun had thought that with a gun, even if conflict broke out, his Chance of Victory would be fifty-fifty.

But this guy actually knew magic!

Seeing that magical light shield, he immediately realized that this world's technology tree and power system were not normal.

Oh.

They had not been normal since the naked corpse earlier.

Their equipment was leagues apart.

Starting a conflict was obviously not a wise choice.

Ji Xun felt that his situation was getting a little grim.
