Ch. 102Clearing Out (Part 2)

Tetsuya searched Mt. Moon and collected Luminous Moss, Light Clay, and two Moon Stones before returning to Pewter Gym. He gave Brock three Pokemon to assess and showed him the Moon Stones, leaving Brock asking how Tetsuya planned to use them.

  • Tetsuya gathered a bag of Luminous Moss and found a piece of Light Clay in the cave.
  • Tetsuya discovered and collected two Moon Stones from the Nidoking and Nidoqueen's resting place.
  • Tetsuya returned to Pewter Gym and asked Brock to assess Nidoking, Nidoqueen, and Rhyperior, with Rhyperior potentially joining his Second Team.
  • Tetsuya showed Brock the two Moon Stones, and Brock asked what he planned to do with them.

Ch. 103Cranidos Fossil

Tetsuya sent Professor Rowan a Light Clay and a complete Cranidos Fossil from Mt. Moon, prompting excitement over the first such fossil found in Kanto. After returning to school, Tetsuya headed for the cafeteria, unaware that Rowan had tried to contact him.

  • Tetsuya left Brock with three Pokémon to handle and told him he had already cleared things with Rhyperior.
  • Professor Rowan received Tetsuya’s package and opened it with Professor Oak.
  • Oak recognized the Light Clay as useful for the Mossdeep Space Center and contacted League staff to increase purchases.
  • Rowan explained that the package contained a complete Cranidos Fossil from Mt. Moon, the first found in Kanto, and the professors celebrated the discovery.
  • Rowan tried to call Tetsuya, but his wristwatch was silent, so the call did not reach him.
  • Tetsuya flew back to the school dormitory on Pidgeot, landed, and went straight to the cafeteria to eat before training.

Ch. 104Profits

Tetsuya reported his Cranidos fossil discovery to Professor Rowan and learned that Mossdeep Space Center had paid him three million Alliance Coins for Light Clay. He counted the trip’s gains and settled in for a night of study, with the fossil’s compensation still to come.

  • Tetsuya returned to his room after training and called Professor Rowan to explain where he had found the Cranidos fossil and that Rhyperior was at Pewter Gym.
  • Professor Rowan said he and Professor Oak would visit the fossil site and promised that Tetsuya would receive a reward for the discovery.
  • Tetsuya sent Rowan the location and route, then saw that Mossdeep Space Center had transferred three million Alliance Coins for his Light Clay.
  • Tetsuya considered the fossil, two Moon Stones, and captured Rhyperior the main profits from his trip, and decided not to rush into selling the stones.
  • Tetsuya watched his three Pokémon rest and began studying for class while lights remained on in nearby teachers’ rooms.

Ch. 105Training and Classes

Tetsuya oversaw Blaziken, Pidgeot, and Boldore’s training before teaching his students how to evaluate Grass-type training plans. The chapter ended as he continued reviewing the students’ proposals in class.

  • Blaziken completed strength training in the Gravity Room, then put on a Weighted Vest and went to practice dodging Bouncy Balls.
  • Blaziken greeted Golduck and Machamp, then watched a nine-tailed Pokemon and a blue-black canine Pokemon train before starting his own drills.
  • Tetsuya checked Pidgeot’s progress in the Wind Pressure Room and left after confirming it was in good condition.
  • Tetsuya visited Boldore in a simulated environment and discussed improving his mastery of Sand Force.
  • Tetsuya reviewed his students’ Grass-type Training Plans in Classroom 201, explaining the strengths and weaknesses of proposals from Shizuyo Uto, Ghost Feather Eagle, and Erii Akimoto.

Ch. 106What It Means to Be a Breeder

Tetsuya taught his students how to identify Pokemon training mistakes and explained the role, certification, and career paths of Breeders. He left class reflecting on the advantages wealthy families gave their children before hurrying off to make money.

  • Tetsuya showed a battle video and asked the class to identify what was wrong with Magmar's training.
  • Shirona explained that Vermilion Honey had raised Magmar's energy while weakening its control over flames, and Tetsuya praised her answer.
  • Tetsuya used more battle footage to teach the students about Pokemon training, materials, health, and battle command.
  • Tetsuya explained the League's eleven Breeder ranks, the certification required to sell Energy Cubes, and his plan to take the Level 6 assessment through Pewter Gym's recommendation.
  • Tetsuya compared the students' Breeder knowledge with that of ordinary children their age, then ended class and left to make money.

Ch. 107Third Visit to Vermilion

After a week of teaching, Tetsuya returned to Vermilion City to challenge its Gym and spent the morning with his Pokemon at the Pokemon Center. He was studying while Blaziken practiced Aura when a sudden influx of injured Pokemon turned the center into a hectic treatment ward.

  • Tetsuya rode Pidgeot to Vermilion City, booked a Gym Battle, and rented a room at the Pokemon Center.
  • Tetsuya let Pidgeot, Boldore, and Blaziken out of their Luxury Balls, and Blaziken demonstrated its Aura Sphere practice.
  • Tetsuya recalled how Lucario had taught Blaziken Aura and fighting techniques, and how he had discovered that Lucario's Trainer was Cynthia.
  • Tetsuya studied while Blaziken continued sensing Aura, then left his room after hearing the Pokemon Center grow noisy.
  • Tetsuya saw Miss Joy and the other staff rushing to treat numerous injured Pokemon as their Trainers waited nearby.

Ch. 108Vermilion Gym (3k, Bonus Chapter (3510))

Tetsuya prepared Rhyperior for his Vermilion Gym challenge and faced Gym Leader Lt. Surge, who chose to battle him personally. The 1v1 match began with Lt. Surge’s Ampharos, and Tetsuya ordered Rhyperior to use Earthquake.

  • Tetsuya learned that Vermilion Gym’s punishing battles also helped challengers improve.
  • Tetsuya received Rhyperior from Pewter Gym and prepared it for the challenge.
  • Lt. Surge noticed Tetsuya’s Level 41 Rhyperior and decided to battle him himself.
  • Lt. Surge sent out his recently evolved Level 31 Ampharos, and Tetsuya chose Rhyperior.
  • Ampharos used Cotton Spore and Charge to counter Rhyperior’s Rock Blast, so Tetsuya ordered Earthquake.

Ch. 109Battle with Lt. Surge

Tetsuya defeated Lt. Surge’s Ampharos and earned the Orange Badge, though he left the Gym without receiving the promised advice. Back at the Pokémon Center, he learned from Jiro that Brock had been sent to Diglett’s Cave to train with their grandfather.

  • Lt. Surge ended the battle after Rhyperior endured Ampharos’s Focus Blast, deciding Tetsuya had proved himself despite the fight’s unfinished outcome.
  • Tetsuya accepted the Orange Badge from Lt. Surge, then completed the Gym’s registration with the referee and returned to the Pokémon Center.
  • Tetsuya handed Rhyperior’s Great Ball to Miss Joy for treatment and wondered why the Gym Battle had lacked the promised guidance.
  • Lt. Surge realized he had left the arena without offering Tetsuya advice and thought about visiting Gyms more often.
  • Jiro called Tetsuya and explained that Brock had been sent to Diglett’s Cave to train with their grandfather, so Tetsuya should contact Jiro if he needed help.

Ch. 110Fishing Competition

Jiro handled Pewter Gym duties while Brock struggled with the trouble caused by his eldest son. In Vermilion City, Tetsuya learned about a fishing competition and decided to consider joining it.

  • Jiro told Brock that Tetsuya had agreed to help, and Brock encouraged him to stay in contact with Tetsuya.
  • Jiro went to select Pokémon to check the accuracy of new testing equipment for the Pokémon Center.
  • Tetsuya learned that his Rhyperior had recovered, then heard about a fishing competition at Rhea Fishing Ground.
  • Miss Joy explained that the competition’s champion would win pearls produced by evolving Clamperl, while all entrants would receive a Shellder pearl.
  • Tetsuya studied the rules over a meal and considered joining the three-hour competition to catch Magikarp.

Ch. 111Grand Occasion

Tetsuya arrived at the crowded Rhea Fishing Ground to enter its Magikarp fishing competition, where Xiao Ye helped him register and explained how fishing spots were chosen. Tetsuya headed to Spot No. 18, confident it would bring him good luck, as the competition approached.

  • Tetsuya met Xiao Ye, who said his Pikachu was training with Lt. Surge's Raichu and offered to help him register.
  • Xiao Ye took Tetsuya to the registration tent, where Uncle Lei recorded his details and gave him a fishing rod and three specialized Poké Balls.
  • Xiao Ye explained that competitors would fish across four lake venues and that experienced anglers selected spots where Magikarp schools were more likely to gather.
  • Tetsuya went to the No. 3 lake venue and found the anglers already inspecting its twenty-four marked fishing spots.
  • Tetsuya took Spot No. 18 and told the nearby anglers that its number meant good fortune, prompting them to encourage him.

Ch. 112Magikarp? Gyarados!

Tetsuya competed in the Rhea Fishing Ground Fishing Competition as Magikarp evolved into Gyarados far more often than usual. He suspected something was causing the outbreaks, and the organizers halted the competition as the danger disrupted fishing.

  • The competition began, and Tetsuya caught and released a small Magikarp before landing a larger one later.
  • A Gyarados evolved in the distance, and the referee explained that security Trainers would handle it.
  • Another Gyarados appeared at Fishing Ground 3, and Tetsuya heard contestants remark that unusually many had evolved.
  • A Man in Black reported that radio waves had caused fifteen Gyarados to evolve, and the Doctor ordered him to increase their frequency.
  • Tetsuya noticed Gyarados appearing more often, and the organizers had referees announce that the competition could not continue normally.

Ch. 113Cracking (Bonus Chapter (5115))

Team Rocket’s experiment triggered mass Magikarp evolutions and a Gyarados rampage at Rhea Fishing Ground, forcing an evacuation and a League response. Tetsuya joined the battle at the Fourth Fishing Ground, where the Gyarados kept increasing as he asked Officer Jenny whether the League had found the source.

  • The fishing-ground referee suspended the competition and evacuated the contestants after dozens of Magikarp evolved into Gyarados.
  • Officer Jenny and her team raided a Team Rocket hideout, arrested a black-clad operative, and learned that the broadcast system had been infected with unknown software.
  • Captain Ying ordered teams to contact the League, contain the Gyarados, evacuate civilians, and prepare medical aid.
  • Tetsuya and the other contestants fled as more Gyarados emerged from the lake and attacked the fishing grounds.
  • Officer Jenny assembled Trainers with Elite Level Pokémon, and Tetsuya joined the group assigned to the Fourth Fishing Ground.
  • Tetsuya sent out Pidgeot and Blaziken to fight the Gyarados, then asked Officer Jenny whether the League had found the cause of the outbreak.

Ch. 114Aftermath of the Crisis

Lt. Surge ended the Gyarados crisis with Raichu’s powerful Thunder and encouraged Tetsuya to pursue strength. Meanwhile, Team Rocket and the League began responding to the incident, leaving its aftermath unresolved as Tetsuya returned to rest.

  • Officer Jenny told Tetsuya that Lt. Surge was on his way, and Lt. Surge soon arrived on Magnezone and cleared the lake of Gyarados with Raichu’s Thunder.
  • Lt. Surge assured Tetsuya that he and his Pokémon could reach that level of strength, then left to handle the aftermath.
  • After the Trainers’ identities were checked, Tetsuya returned to the Pokémon Center while a Team Rocket agent reported to the man called Boss about Professor Shiranu’s experiment and a failed approach to another party.
  • Fenglin Wan told Lt. Surge that the League would react to Team Rocket’s actions and advised him to prepare.
  • At Indigo Plateau, League officials discussed Team Rocket’s contact with Lt. Surge and whether he could be trusted.

Ch. 115Continue the Adventure

Tetsuya read the League’s report on Team Rocket’s Gyarados experiment and speculated about its purpose before deciding he was too weak to investigate. He left Vermilion City and continued training Boldore, defeating a Weepinbell and collecting its Tail Hook.

  • Tetsuya read that Team Rocket had used a technological method to force Magikarp to evolve, leaving the resulting Gyarados violent and with shortened lifespans.
  • Tetsuya wondered whether Team Rocket’s experiment in Vermilion City had targeted Lt. Surge, then decided not to pursue the matter until he grew stronger.
  • After Tetsuya left Vermilion City, a television report announced that Giovanni’s Rocket Group would go public and denied any connection to Team Rocket.
  • Tetsuya ordered Boldore to defeat a Weepinbell with Rock Slide and Power Gem, then collected the Tail Hook from its head.

Ch. 116Green? Bluish-Green?

Tetsuya and his Pokémon traveled through the forest, where Pidgeot found a bluish-green Shiny Rattata. After capturing it, Tetsuya decided to find it a job rather than sell it.

  • Tetsuya had Boldore battle the wild Pokémon they encountered and gather useful materials as they continued through the forest.
  • At a stream, Tetsuya called Pidgeot down after its loud cry disturbed nearby Pokémon.
  • Pidgeot showed Tetsuya a bluish-green Rattata it had caught, and Tetsuya recognized it as a Shiny Pokémon.
  • Blaziken knocked the Rattata unconscious, and Tetsuya captured it in a Poké Ball.
  • Tetsuya learned the Rattata had only Normal Level potential and decided to find it work where it could eat and drink for free.

Ch. 117Secret Cave

Tetsuya arranged for Professor Rowan to take in the Shiny Rattata, then continued his journey toward Lavender Town. After Boldore discovered a hidden underground cave, Tetsuya and his Pokemon explored it and found a rock wall that Boldore could not move.

  • Tetsuya arranged with Professor Rowan to send the Shiny Rattata to his research team for study and care.
  • Tetsuya fed his Pokemon, packed up, and set out toward Lavender Town before heading to Celadon City.
  • Boldore sensed a hidden cave beneath a boulder, and Tetsuya decided to explore it with Blaziken and Boldore.
  • Blaziken dug a passage while Boldore shaped the tunnel, allowing Tetsuya to descend safely into the underground cave.
  • Boldore led Tetsuya and Blaziken through the cave to a rock wall and explained that it could not control the rocks there.

Ch. 118Mural

Tetsuya discovered a hidden mechanism in the cave and worked with Blaziken and Boldore to open the rock wall. Inside, he found an ancient tunnel whose murals depicted several Pokémon fighting Deoxys, leaving him wondering whether to flee.

  • Tetsuya accidentally triggered a hole in the cave floor, but Blaziken caught him and carried him back to solid ground.
  • Tetsuya tested the rock wall and found that it absorbed Fire-type energy while Boldore’s Rock Slide seemed to replenish its defense.
  • Tetsuya had Blaziken weaken the wall with repeated Fire-type attacks until Boldore could control and open it.
  • Tetsuya entered an artificial stone tunnel with Blaziken and found silver grooves, Ancient Text records, and murals depicting Aerodactyl, Kabutops, two Charizard forms, and an unfamiliar Pokémon fighting Deoxys.
  • Tetsuya recognized the strange Pokémon as Deoxys and wondered whether he should turn around and run.

Ch. 119Strange Stone

Tetsuya explored an underground passage and found an ancient mural depicting Deoxys and another powerful, unfamiliar Pokemon. He took a mysterious stone from a ruined temple, concealed the site, and reached Lavender Town to rest.

  • Tetsuya recognized the mural's orange-red Pokemon as Deoxys and continued through the passage after seeing it leave the ancient battlefield.
  • He saw an unfamiliar black-and-orange Pokemon defeat five exhausted Pokemon, leave a strange stone, and depart.
  • Tetsuya found the silver-gray stone on a platform in a ruined temple, examined it, and stored it in his Spatial Backpack.
  • He had Blaziken and Boldore destroy the murals and temple ruins before Boldore guided them back to the surface.
  • Tetsuya rode Pidgeot to Lavender Town, left his tired Pokemon with Miss Joy, rented a room, and rested.

Ch. 121Lavender Town

Tetsuya visited Pokemon Tower in Lavender Town to pay his respects, then left for Route 8 to battle. He challenged a veteran Trainer with Boldore against Gloom, and the match began with Gloom launching Bullet Seed.

  • Tetsuya donated ten thousand Alliance Coins to Pokemon House and visited a grave in Pokemon Tower, cleaning it and leaving Energy Cubes.
  • Tetsuya reflected on Team Rocket's future plans to poach Cubone and vowed to prevent them if he gained enough strength.
  • Tetsuya left Lavender Town and headed to Route 8, where he decided to take part in battles rather than watch.
  • Tetsuya challenged the reigning Trainer, who sent out Gloom against Tetsuya's Boldore.
  • Tetsuya had Boldore use Gravity and Arena Trap, and the opposing Trainer ordered Gloom to use Bullet Seed.

Ch. 122Battle Road

Tetsuya and Boldore defeated a Gloom Trainer by using Harden, Rock Slide, and Rest to withstand its attacks and exploit its paralysis. Boldore continued its winning streak as another challenger sent out Aipom.

  • Gloom's scent overwhelmed the spectators, but Boldore was unaffected and calmly endured Bullet Seed while using Harden.
  • Gloom's Trainer ordered Stun Spore, and Tetsuya had Boldore use Facade once it was paralyzed.
  • Boldore's Facade struck Gloom after Rock Slide had left it unable to move, knocking it out and earning Tetsuya 5,000 Alliance Coins.
  • Tetsuya restored Boldore before a new challenger sent out Aipom, while spectators noted that Boldore had won eight battles in a row.
