After Chiffon left the Police Department, it was already four thirty in the afternoon. He casually found a sushi restaurant and treated it as dinner.
After finishing dinner, Chiffon took a car straight to Shibuya. There was a main event tonight, and he had to watch it.
"Over here, over here!"
The moment Chiffon entered the black market, he heard a familiar voice. Hirahara Yuudai was actually here this early.
"Do you have nothing to do every day? You just come here to watch matches all day?" Chiffon walked over. This guy seemed to be a regular here; otherwise, there was no way he would know so much about underground boxing.
"Of course. I don't work or go to school," Hirahara Yuudai said as if it were only natural.
"If you don't work or study, where do you get money to eat?" Chiffon asked.
"Aren't I waiting for you to treat me? Didn't you say you'd buy me a meal if I won?" Hirahara Yuudai said in confusion.
"Get lost!" Chiffon cursed. "Tell me the truth."
Hirahara Yuudai scratched the back of his head. "Actually, I run a stall here and sell medicinal herbs. My old man's a doctor. He has some stuff that's hard to sell openly, so I bring it here to move it. How else do you think I've survived until now? By mooching meals?"
"I also think it hasn't been easy for you to survive until now." Chiffon suddenly smiled. He had not expected Yuudai to be running a little black-market business.
"Screw you!" Hirahara Yuudai cursed.
"Alright, quit messing around. When is that Little Cannon coming?" After bantering with Hirahara Yuudai, Chiffon's expression turned serious as he asked.
"Keep your voice down. It's rude to call Little Cannon that. If he hears you, you're dead." Hirahara Yuudai looked terrified as he glanced around. Fortunately, no one had heard. "An hour and a half. He'll probably come early to prepare in another hour."
"How strong is the challenger this time?" Chiffon asked.
"In terms of strength, more people are betting on Little Cannon, but no one can say for sure. After all, it's the other guy's first time challenging someone here," Hirahara Yuudai analyzed.
"His first challenge is against one of the Five Kings?" Chiffon chuckled. "This guy's got guts."
"Exactly. Lots of people are saying he's just looking to die." Hirahara Yuudai sounded somewhat regretful, as if he had already seen that man's downfall.
Chiffon asked, "What are the odds?"
"1:5." Hirahara Yuudai gave him a meaningful look. "What, want to place a bet?"
"Of course, but I need to see the two of them before deciding who to bet on." Chiffon looked toward the screen on the left, which displayed tonight's match schedule and roster.
The most eye-catching name was Little Cannon, one of the Five Kings. His opponent was called Savage Mountain. Just from the name, Chiffon could tell the other man possessed immense strength, but everything would have to wait until he saw him in person.
For more than an hour, Chiffon and Hirahara Yuudai watched the matches in the ring. During that time, at least five or six fighters were replaced—some dead, some injured. No one felt any sympathy.
However, Chiffon noticed that these fighters were all fairly weak. If he went up to challenge them, he could kill them in seconds. These fighters were simply trying to earn a living. It was enough if they could support themselves. They might earn a little more than working outside, but only a little.
Chiffon could not quite understand these people. Some of them were not especially bloodthirsty, yet they still fought for their lives here in exchange for comparatively higher pay. But was that really worth it? If they died, they would have nothing.
Chiffon shook his head and stopped thinking about it. Everyone had their own way of living, and he had no right to interfere.
Just then, Hirahara Yuudai suddenly screamed beside him. "They're here, they're here!"
Chiffon followed Hirahara Yuudai's gaze and saw a man emerge from a dark passageway in the distance, draped in a red cape. He was not tall, around 1.7 meters, but his body was packed with solid muscle. One look was enough to tell he was extremely strong.
"Little Cannon! Little Cannon!"
The crowd suddenly erupted. It seemed that Little Cannon, one of the Five Kings, was quite popular.
Chiffon spotted Himiko Toga in the crowd. As usual, she was wearing her school uniform today, her expression calm, as though nothing could affect her. Perhaps she was not particularly interested in Little Cannon.
Thinking of that evening at dusk, Chiffon's mind began to wander. What a sin.
Surrounded by the crowd, Little Cannon stepped onto the ring. He checked the time. His opponent would arrive in just over ten minutes.
Although he was one of the Five Kings, he ranked fourth, so people came to challenge him from time to time. He was very unhappy about that, but there was nothing he could do. At most, his strength allowed him to hold onto fourth place among the Five Kings. The guys ranked above him were all freaks, and he could not beat them.
Chiffon observed Little Cannon. Overall, he seemed ordinary. Chiffon could not tell what his Quirk was.
Ten minutes later, another man emerged from the dark passageway. The instant he appeared, Chiffon knew that Little Cannon on the stage was finished.
This person should be the challenger, Savage Mountain. He looked about 1.9 meters tall. His muscles were not the bulky, explosive kind, but his body fat was extremely low, making every muscle line sharply defined. More importantly, Chiffon sensed a trace of danger from Savage Mountain.
"This should be Savage Mountain. He's a little tall, but I don't think he's a match for Little Cannon." Hirahara Yuudai's eyes gleamed. Having come and gone here year-round, he had long become familiar with every fighter's appearance and bearing. Just by looking at someone, he could roughly judge their strength.
But Chiffon shook his head. "You're wrong. The one who'll lose isn't Savage Mountain. It's Little Cannon."
"Come on," Hirahara Yuudai said disbelievingly. "You think I can be wrong?"
Chiffon ignored Hirahara Yuudai and went to place his bet. He put 50,000 yen on Savage Mountain. At odds of 1:5, if he won, he would get 250,000 yen.
After placing his bet, Savage Mountain had already stepped into the ring. The ring covered four hundred square meters, enough for the two of them to fight freely. It was also extremely sturdy. The spectators around it knew not to get too close, lest they get caught in the crossfire.
Such things had happened before. Two of the Seven Saints once fought, and the spectators watching were directly killed by mistake. Since then, the ring had been reinforced, and the crowd no longer dared to stand too close.
Chiffon was not afraid of being caught up in the two men's fight. He went straight to the front to watch. From there, he could see everything clearly and even feel the auras of the two men on the stage.
Hirahara Yuudai also came over and stood beside Chiffon.
"You're not afraid of dying?" Chiffon looked at Hirahara Yuudai in surprise. In Chiffon's eyes, Hirahara Yuudai was the kind of person who valued his life and feared death.
"You think this ring is made of paper? Besides, Little Cannon's Quirk is Steel Body. There's nothing dangerous about it." Hirahara Yuudai looked utterly confident. He had bet 100,000 yen on Little Cannon, so he could splurge for a while again.
