Thirty-Fourth Update: The Beginning of Slaughter! (Third Update! Please Bookmark and Vote!)
After killing the man, Su Yi hid his body.
Then, Su Yi went straight beneath a battered old table, where a discarded piece of black cloth happened to lie.
At barely four feet tall, Su Yi could be completely concealed beneath the black cloth. He lay prone on the ground, his eyes fixed on the tents ahead.
He remained there for a full two hours without moving. His eyes stayed trained on those tents, calm yet as sharp as a hawk's.
Although he had not found another opportunity during those two hours, taking down this so-called Death Group of vicious criminals might be several times easier than he had expected.
After all, two people had left a tent for two hours, yet no one had come out to check on them.
That could only mean these people were far too unwary. Moreover, the occasional screams and wild laughter coming from two of the tents showed that this was a place where the strong devoured the weak.
Everyone here kept to themselves and did not care about anyone else.
From the screams and laughter alone, it was clear that the weak were being tortured by the strong.
It made sense. Spirit Hall had penned them up here, where they had no entertainment whatsoever. Even food was scarce; each month, Spirit Hall gave them only enough to barely stay alive.
If they wanted to eat their fill, they had to plunder.
With a thud, a bloodied, mangled man was thrown out of a tent.
The man who had been thrown out kept trying to crawl away from the tent before him.
It was as though something incomparably terrifying lurked inside.
Hidden beneath the table by the black cloth, Su Yi quietly observed.
"Hahaha! Since we've had enough fun, let's eat some meat first. Otherwise, those guys will come steal our food again."
An incomparably harsh, gruff voice rang out. As the tent flap opened, four sturdy, vicious-looking men strode step by step toward the mangled man.
Fierceness gleamed in the eyes of all four. The one who spoke was the bald man leading them.
He bared his teeth in a grin at the mangled man, who kept making terrified whimpering sounds.
When he grinned, his blackened yellow teeth were stained with blood.
With a squelch, a broadsword appeared in the bald man's hand, while three soul rings—white, yellow, and purple—rose beneath his feet.
He was a Soul Elder.
As the sound rang out, the mangled man squirming on the ground let out a hoarse roar from his throat.
The blade rose and fell, severing the man's left leg in a single stroke.
"This is your reward!"
The bald man pointed at the severed left leg and spoke to the three burly men beside him.
"Thank you, Boss! Thank you, Boss!"
Upon hearing that, one of them picked up the bloody leg and rushed into the tent.
The other two followed close behind and entered the tent as well.
As the three entered the tent, firelight rose within, and the scent of roasting meat drifted into Su Yi's nose.
He knew what that smell was. It was not as though he had never seen such things before.
These people could not possibly eat their fill here. When people were driven mad by hunger, they would do anything to fill their stomachs. Especially people like these—villains capable of every evil—when driven mad by hunger, they could commit acts so utterly inhuman.
Such a cruel scene did not stir the slightest ripple in Su Yi's indifferent eyes.
Seeing that the three showed no sign of coming back out after entering the tent, Su Yi's hawk-sharp gaze fixed on the bald man eating on the ground as he shot forward.
The bald man happened to be facing the table where Su Yi had hidden himself. Just as Su Yi rushed out, the bald man, his mouth full of flesh, happened to look up.
A black shadow flashed before him. His vision went dark, and he collapsed atop the man beneath him, dead.
When Su Yi reached the bald man, the dagger in his right hand plunged directly into the man's throat. He then released the dagger, caught it in a reverse grip, yanked it out like lightning, and swiftly drove it into the bald man's heart before pulling it free again.
Su Yi completed two consecutive fatal strikes within a single second.
As soon as the dagger left the bald man's body, he fell directly onto the corpse of the person he had been eating.
By then, the sun had already set, and the last trace of dusk had vanished beyond the horizon.
Night had fallen.
As darkness descended, a trace of excitement flashed through Su Yi's originally cold, indifferent eyes.
After assassinating two people in succession, Su Yi could feel the blood flowing through his body gradually heating up.
The bandits he had faced before had offered no challenge at all.
But this Death Group was different. The people inside were Soul Grand Masters and Soul Elders.
This level of difficulty was nothing those bandits could compare to.
Only challenging assassinations could make Su Yi feel even a hint of excitement.
After killing only these two people, Su Yi felt as though he had regained the sensation he once had in Tianming.
After killing the bald man, Su Yi looked at the tent glowing with firelight before him.
There were only three people left inside. Thinking this, Su Yi slowly drew the dagger hidden against his other calf and held it in his left hand.
After briefly sensing the flow of air before him and determining the positions of the three people inside the tent, he charged straight in.
The two Black Daggers in his hands flew left and right, plunging to the hilt into the throats of the two men seated beside the one facing Su Yi.
Before that man could recover his senses, the Chaos Supreme Gun appeared in Su Yi's hand. Gripping the spear in his right hand, he thrust it directly into the throat of the burly man facing him.
As he pulled out the spear, blood gushed forth.
Su Yi flicked the blood from the spear tip and recalled his martial soul.
He then walked over to the other two corpses, pulled the daggers from their throats, and leaped onto the tent, quietly waiting for his prey to arrive.
After killing those three, he had sensed three people approaching this tent, including a Soul Elder.
"That madman Old Wan really knows how to eat. If it weren't for the smell, we wouldn't even know he was hogging all the food."
"Exactly. Old Ghost Wan, isn't it a little unfair for you and your lackeys to enjoy all the food yourselves?"
The voices came from outside the tent. As they drew closer, the three men entered.
With a squelch, Su Yi, perched atop the tent, struck the instant the three lifted the tent flap.
Using the same method, Su Yi moved like lightning, and the two daggers in his hands plunged directly into the throats of the two men behind the Soul Elder.
The Black Dragon Head Iron Spear appeared in Su Yi's hand and stabbed directly into the Soul Elder's heart, nailing him to the ground.
Fortunately, the surroundings were chaotic. Even with such a small disturbance, no one would notice.
Now that the warm-up was over.
On such a dark and windy night, it truly was the perfect time to kill.
