Ren Suo stirred the milk cap with his straw and looked around the shop: dark brown wooden tables, orange-yellow hanging lamps, and they were seated by the window in the best possible spot.
Though it was afternoon, the shop was fairly crowded. Xia Lingyu and Li Ke'er sat across from him, working their way through a plate of mango shaved ice.
Watching the mango juice flow into the white ice, Ren Suo swallowed unconsciously. The shop looked decent enough, but the menu was far too unfriendly to single people—all the shaved ice servings were for at least two people. Ren Suo was too embarrassed to share one with two girls, so he could only drink milk cap tea.
As for eating a two-person serving of shaved ice by himself, Ren Suo did not have that much nerve—or that much stomach...
"Don't run!"
A fierce shout suddenly came from outside. Ren Suo looked over and saw a scruffy man in tattered clothes, with a sallow face, a huge beard, and disheveled hair, running past outside. Several men in "Urban Management Enforcement" vests were chasing after him, dashing past as though they were playing a game of "if you catch me, I'll let you hehe."
The pedestrians seemed used to it and even made way for the chase.
Ren Suo stared in bewilderment. "In broad daylight, Urban Management Enforcement is actually snatching men?"
Li Ke'er burst out laughing. "What snatching men? They're cleaning up the city's appearance. You're a civil servant, aren't you? You didn't know?"
