Geography and Powers

• The Northwest is one of Canglan’s border regions, distinct from the Central Region. Its distance from major Central Region sects made rapid reinforcement difficult 508 1080.
• Its powers included dynasties, sects, and clans. Tiger Chasing Dynasty, Donglai Sect, Lanyue Sect, Chuyun Pavilion, and Yingxian Gate were among its leading factions 805.
• The Twilight Ancient Path drew Northwest factions into competition with powers arriving from the Central Region 346 347.

History

Rise of the Yang Clan

The Northwest attracted wider attention after producing three heavenly talents and after its forces defeated the Jade Firmament Sect and Wind Thunder Temple at the Twilight Ancient Path 508. The destruction of the Eastern Wasteland Dynasty then changed the regional balance. Most cultivators still counted eleven top-tier Northwest powers, treating the Yang Clan as a replacement for the fallen dynasty 805.

Six established powers endorsed the designation “Northwest Yang Clan.” Yingxian Gate accepted the clan’s rise but questioned whether it could represent the entire region before openly fielding a True Intent cultivator 805. Over time, the clan coordinated Northwest factions, including their participation in the Twilight Ancient Path, and earned trust by reducing disputes rather than suppressing smaller powers 989 1002.

Demonic Path invasion

A Demonic Path surprise assault entered the Northwest through a spatial passage. Its commanders initially expected to take the region within three months, but resistance slowed their advance 1073 1075 1084. Northwest forces united under Yang Clan leadership, evacuated civilians, and fought despite a disadvantage in cultivation strength 1086 1088.

The first major battle cost the Northwest nearly forty percent of its conventional troops. Its cultivators nevertheless killed three Demon Children and severely wounded two more 1094. Eight Northwest True Intent cultivators later intercepted twelve attacks aimed at Yang Lingrui; his subsequent attainment of True Intent helped secure time for a withdrawal eastward 1112 1127.

After Blackwater Demon Lord was defeated by two righteous-path Venerables and the demonic army routed, cultivators returned to damaged homelands. The Northwest began rebuilding under Yang Clan leadership, aided by resources the clan secured from the Central Region 1294 1467.
