Three Body Technique

After getting home, Ayato looked at the Scroll of the Three Body Technique on the table, as well as a sheet of chakra paper he had bought on the way.

Ayato first picked up the chakra paper and poured his chakra into it. Very quickly, the paper split down the middle, while the portion in his hand wrinkled.

"Wind and Lightning?" Ayato nodded at the sight, not particularly surprised. His father, whom he had never met, seemed to have been Wind Style, while Sinai had previously said that her affinity was Lightning.

So Ayato had successfully inherited both of his parents' affinities. That was pretty good. He just couldn't remember what bloodline limit Wind and Lightning could form—probably none. Even if there was one, though, he had no plans to try it.

After all, no matter how he thought about it, attempting to fuse bloodline limits was no different from courting death. If they were that easy to create, bloodline limits would not be so rare in this world.

In Ayato's view, every existing bloodline limit came from either reckless experimentation or mutation. As for himself, unless he had a bloodline like Naruto's, a Medical Ninja like Tsunade constantly watching over him, and physical strength like Might Guy's, he would never risk his life like that.

But if he could gather all those conditions, what would he need a bloodline limit for? He could just charge straight ahead!

Still, Wind and Lightning were not bad. He now qualified to learn both the Rasenshuriken and Lightning Cutter. The Rasenshuriken required sufficient chakra reserves and Sage Mode, while Lightning Cutter required enough Dynamic Vision.

Otherwise, one would injure himself eight hundred to hurt the enemy a thousand, while the other would simply charge straight in and miss.

Sage Mode was in his plans, but he definitely had no chance to learn it yet, so he crossed that off for now. As for Dynamic Vision, it basically depended on innate talent and bloodline limits, such as the Sharingan and Byakugan.

Not to mention Ayato had no intention of transplanting someone else's eyes, transplanting a Sharingan would probably drain all his chakra and leave him unable to improve any further. That was unacceptable. The Byakugan would be somewhat better, but whether he could obtain one or not, Ayato himself would be unwilling.

Ayato considered whether combining Sage Mode with Lightning Cutter could eliminate that weakness. Sage Mode should provide an all-around enhancement, perhaps including Dynamic Vision. He could try it someday if he got the chance.

Next came learning the Three Body Technique. Ayato opened the Scroll.

The Three Body Technique was not complicated. Ayato quickly finished reading it, including all of Iruka's annotations.

The Three Body Technique consisted of the Clone Technique, Transformation Technique, and Substitution Technique. All three were simple yet practical basic ninjutsu.

The Transformation Technique required only one hand sign, the Clone Technique required three, and the Substitution Technique required five. Their difficulty was also classified according to the number of hand signs.

The learning process was just as Ayato expected. Hand signs were merely a guide; they could better direct the transformations of chakra. What truly mattered when casting ninjutsu was the chakra transformation itself.

Every ninjutsu had its own unique chakra transformation, so merely knowing the hand signs was basically not enough to use the corresponding technique.

Conversely, if one became familiar with chakra transformations, could one cast ninjutsu without hand signs? Like those techniques in the later stages that were released simply by pressing both hands together...

As for the Three Body Technique, Ayato intended to learn all of them, but their priority for mastery would differ. He only needed to become proficient with the Transformation Technique. If he had time, he could practice the Clone Technique more. The one he planned to focus on was the Substitution Technique.

After all, it was a simple and highly practical ninjutsu. However, with five hand signs, Ayato still needed nearly two seconds at his current level. Against speed-type ninja, he might not have time to use it, so he had to reduce the casting time for the Substitution Technique to under one second.

It was time to try it. Following the chakra flow described in the Scroll, Ayato formed a hand sign while a figure appeared in his mind.

"Transformation Technique!"

A puff of white smoke rose up. When it cleared, a small yet graceful woman stood there. Then Ayato looked at Tifa's figure in the mirror, suddenly blushed, and dispelled the Transformation Technique.

Ayato had not expected to succeed on his first try. And suddenly, he felt that perhaps he should practice the Transformation Technique more too. Ahem.

Ayato looked around and sighed in relief after confirming that no one was there. That was enough for the Transformation Technique. He just needed to use it a few more times to get familiar with it. After all, it only had one hand sign, so there was nothing left to streamline.

Then, one different figure after another appeared in Ayato's room. Though all of them were small, they became increasingly exquisite.

Asuna, Misaka Mikoto, Akame...

Time passed quickly. By the time Sinai returned, Ayato had already managed to use both the Clone Technique and the Substitution Technique. How should he put it? They seemed much easier than he had imagined.

Unlike the Transformation Technique's single hand sign, Ayato was not yet very proficient with the Clone Technique and Substitution Technique. His chakra transformations could not keep up with his original hand-sign speed.

But that was not much of a problem. He only needed more practice later on.

Only now did Ayato realize that his talent might be much stronger than he had previously imagined. Even if the Three Body Technique was simple, learning it upon first contact and successfully using it on his first attempt was enough to prove his talent.

So I'm a genius after all?

"Mom, welcome back." Hearing the door open and Sinai's voice, Ayato came out of his room and went into the living room to greet her.

"Ta-da!" Upon seeing Ayato, Sinai proudly took out a Scroll. "Little Ayato, look what this is!"

"Shadow Clone Technique," Ayato said calmly.

"Mm, it's the Shadow Clone Technique, but shouldn't Little Ayato be happier?" Sinai found Ayato's reaction a little disappointing.

"Mm, I'm very happy." Ayato smiled as he spoke.

"Sigh, here you go, my little grown-up." Sinai handed the Scroll to Ayato, then said, "I went to see the teacher. The teacher also said Shadow Clone was not suitable for you."

"Mm, but I think it suits me very well." Ayato took the Scroll with some excitement.

"I knew you wouldn't listen to advice, so I exchanged for it anyway. Fortunately, it was Shadow Clone. If it had been another Rank B Ninjutsu, I really might not have been able to exchange for it," Sinai said.

"Why?" Ayato immediately became interested.

"The teacher said that although the Shadow Clone Technique was developed by Konoha, it was actually stolen and learned long ago. Other villages have similar techniques too, so there is basically no need to keep it secret. Other ninjutsu are still very valuable, and they generally will not let people like us, who might expose them, exchange for them," Sinai explained.

Ayato nodded. That made sense. Still, he had obtained the Shadow Clone Technique in the end, so he had his next learning goal.

"Oh, right, Mom. I won't be eating dinner at home tonight." Ayato remembered that he had invited Iruka Sensei to dinner. Afterward, he would probably wander around the village and return late.

"Hm? Why? Has Little Ayato gotten tired of Mom's cooking so quickly?" Sinai pretended to be depressed and even wiped away two nonexistent tears.

"Of course not." Ayato told Sinai about what he had discussed with Iruka Sensei.
