"Why is he allowed to participate?" Colonel Phillips turned his head to look at Dr. Abraham Erskine beside him, his face etched with confusion. "He's the weakest of all the recruits I've seen. His arms are thinner than noodles!"

"Being weak now doesn't mean he'll be weak later," Abraham took off his glasses, pulled out a lens cloth, and carefully wiped them before putting them back on. He turned to look at the three figures running further away, his expression calm.

"Alright, you're the boss," Colonel Phillips shrugged with a helpless expression. "But I still have my eye more on Alex."

Hearing Phillips' words, Abraham hesitated for a moment. "Alex is indeed good. He's a perfect candidate for the experiment." After a pause, Abraham spoke again, "Two choices, it's really hard to decide."

"Why can't we have one more test subject?" Phillips asked, somewhat puzzled. He didn't understand science; if there were two, why not both?

Abraham paused at this. His expression flickered between joy and worry before he finally let out a long sigh. "That's a good suggestion, but the experiment plan needs to be postponed for a while. I only prepared enough dosage for one test subject."

"We have plenty of time before they can get to the battlefield."

The next day, Colonel Phillips summoned all the recruits.

"General Patton once said, 'War depends on weapons, but victory depends on soldiers.' We will win this war because we have the best… soldiers… and they will get better and better, much better!" Phillips' sharp gaze swept over all the recruits, finally landing on the small, thin figure in the crowd. His voice faltered slightly, his tone shifting.

The small, thin figure was none other than Steve Rogers.

Phillips grunted, shifting his gaze away from Steve Rogers, and continued, "The Strategic Scientific Reserve is formed by the Allies, composed of the elites of the free world. Our goal is to build the greatest army in history! And all armies have their vanguards. After this week, we will select them. They will be the first batch, our new generation of super-soldiers. And they will personally send Adolf Hitler to hell!"

Below the stage, all the recruits couldn't help but get excited, eager to try. Alex didn't have any particular thoughts. He knew the vanguard would be Steve Rogers, and he didn't want to steal the glory that belonged to Captain America.

After Phillips' speech, a beautiful female officer walked out. Her wavy, auburn hair captivated a crowd of recruits. One bold recruit spoke out of turn, only to be knocked to the ground by a single punch from the female officer. The remaining recruits were so terrified that they dared not harbor any further improper thoughts.

After intimidating the recruits, the female officer began her introduction. "Gentlemen, I am Agent Carter, and I will be overseeing all matters in this department. You will undergo even more brutal training."

Carter? Alex looked at the beautiful agent, then turned to look at Steve beside him, his expression somewhat strange.

With Carter's appearance, the base's training suddenly escalated several notches. Days of high-intensity training led many recruits to give up, with only a handful managing to persevere. Although Steve also struggled to adapt to such intense training, his resilient nature and refusal to give up allowed him to push through.

"Doctor, I think you need to reconsider the issue of the test subject," Colonel Phillips said from outside the training ground, watching Steve Rogers struggling with push-ups in the field, his voice laced with concern. "He's really too thin. Watching him train like this almost makes me cry."

Abraham frowned slightly and turned to Phillips, saying sternly, "I value quality over physique."

"You know how much effort we've put into this project…"

Seeing Phillips about to launch into a lengthy explanation, Abraham helplessly interrupted him, "Yes, I know how much effort you've put in…"

"Then give me some results! Hodge passed all the tests. He's strong, fast, obedient, and a soldier."

"He's a bully. He was the one bullying Steve and the others," Abraham argued.

"Kindness won't win battles, Doctor!" Phillips snorted, taking a grenade from a nearby equipment vehicle. "Victory is won with courage."

Phillips pulled the pin and tossed it onto the training ground, shouting, "Grenade!"

The recruits undergoing special training on the field immediately panicked, scattering to take cover. Only Steve lunged forward, hugging the grenade to his chest, shouting, "Run! Get down!"

Alex didn't run, nor did he hide. He didn't try to steal Steve's lines either. In fact, he had been anticipating this moment. Although he had found this scene quite ridiculous when he watched the movie, seeing it in person deeply moved Alex. The moment Phillips' voice rang out, Alex's body instinctively wanted to dodge.

But Steve didn't hesitate to throw himself forward. In this regard, Alex felt inferior.

Seeing Steve's performance, Carter smiled. Abraham smiled. Phillips wore a look of helplessness, stubbornly stating, "He's still too thin!"

After waiting for a while and hearing no explosion, everyone peeked out from their cover. Steve also came to his senses and looked up at Carter in front of him, asking doubtfully, "Was this a test?"

Carter slowly nodded, looking at Steve meaningfully. "Congratulations, Steve, you passed the test."

After waiting for almost a month, Alex couldn't help but feel excited to finally hear this news. Steve was finally going to embark on his own path, and the future Captain America was finally about to be born!

Just as Alex was feeling happy for Steve, he noticed Carter walking towards him.

"Congratulations, Alex, you passed the test too!"

"Huh?" Alex thought he misheard and looked at Carter in surprise. "What did you say?"

Seeing Alex's dazed expression, Carter couldn't help but chuckle softly and repeated, "You passed the test and will become one of the first super-soldiers!"

After confirming he hadn't misheard, Alex was a bit bewildered. This movie was different. How could there be an extra person? And he hadn't done anything!

Thinking this, Alex couldn't help but ask, "Why me?"

"Don't you want to become a super-soldier?" Carter asked back without answering.

Alex froze for a moment, then quickly nodded. "Yes!" Although Alex possessed the divine skills of Teleportation and Replication, his actual combat power was almost zero. If he could be injected with the super-soldier serum and become a super-soldier like Captain America, Alex had no reason to refuse.
