The thunderous blasts of energy kept erupting across the battlefield, wave after wave, like an unending tide.
Furnace People warships continually flew out from the massive Furnace People War Fortress, nearly blotting out the sky. Swarms of Furnace Fighters were deployed from the fleet, descending into the Furnacefolk Legion below, which surged like an ocean tide.
This army moved in utter silence. Wherever it passed, there were only explosive bursts of energy and the deafening crash of collapsing buildings.
Under the cover of Furnace People warships and Furnace Fighters, the wizards' fortresses and strongholds seemed to be made of paper, shattering at the slightest touch.
"Reinforcements! We need reinforcements!"
Inside the fortress, Gawain shouted into the Crystal Ball. Yet all that came from it was an ear-piercing burst of static.
Clearly, the Furnacefolk Legion had disrupted their communication channels. Or perhaps the aftermath of battle had already made the battlefield's energy environment too unstable for his Crystal Ball to communicate normally.
Outside the fortress, the dense black mass of the Furnacefolk Legion was still ten kilometers away.
Yet the overwhelming beams unleashed by the Furnacefolk Legion, together with the attacks of the Furnace Fighters and Furnace People warships, had pinned them down so thoroughly they could barely breathe.
Boom!
A ball of white light suddenly exploded in the sky.
Gawain glanced at the sensors, and his heart immediately sank to the bottom.
That burst of white light had been a great wizard of the Shaping School. On this battlefield, the great wizard had not even had time to use Equivalent Exchange before being focused down and killed by the Lord of the Furnace People world.
"Damn it, Asu, it's time to retreat!"
Gawain stowed the Crystal Ball in the storage space of his alchemical armor and was about to summon
