A Faster, Rebuilt Site#
- The whole site has been rebuilt so pages arrive fully formed from the server. Novel pages, chapters, wiki pages and browse lists appear straight away instead of assembling piece by piece, and they now show up properly in search results and link previews
- Moving around no longer reloads the page — the sidebar, pagination, filters, sorting and account pages switch in place without a flash or losing your scroll position, with a thin progress bar at the top
- Lighter pages — the novel page only loads the chapters it shows, fonts are served by us, and static files are cached for longer
- Rankings, Top Readers, your reader rank and site stats load almost instantly (from roughly 400ms to a few milliseconds), and some glossary operations that took minutes now finish in milliseconds
- Paragraph retranslation no longer ties up the page — it runs in the background and swaps in when it's done
- Dark themes no longer flash white, including on error pages, and error pages use your theme
- Longer custom themes are no longer silently discarded on every load
- Short pages on iPhone no longer jump under your finger while scrolling
- Old links to a merged duplicate novel now take you to the original, for novel and chapter pages alike
Public Profiles#
- Every reader now has a public profile page — reading stats, ranks and streaks, plus tabs for reviews and ratings, comments, uploaded novels and accepted glossary contributions. It only shows things that were already public on the site
- Usernames link to profiles across comments, reviews, rankings and activity, and your own is one tap away in the account menu
- The uploader badge on a novel links to the uploader's profile, which replaces the old "Uploader" filter on Browse
- Reading activity is now recorded day by day for the chapters you open, so profiles can show a reading history as it builds up
Reading#
- The reader bars toggle instantly with a single tap. Scrolling no longer brings them up by accident, closing a dialog no longer pops them open, and a double-tap hands over smoothly to the paragraph menu
- Bookmark and reading status live in the reader bar, so you can switch between Reading and Paused mid-chapter
- System boxes can be retranslated line by line — each line of a blue panel is its own paragraph with the full paragraph menu, and names inside them are clickable. Retranslating one can no longer put the Chinese back
- Streamed translations arrive already in paragraphs and formatting instead of a wall of text that snaps into shape at the end, and the switch to the finished chapter is smoother
- Chapters load on older phones and browsers. If streaming fails you get the saved translation instead of an error, and a failed refresh keeps the text on screen
- Chapters that came back mostly summarised are caught and redone instead of being saved as finished
- Characters keep their gender even when their name sounds like the other sex — fewer "Senior Sister" slips for male characters
- Polite phrases translate the right way round (麻烦你了 is the speaker apologising, not accusing), and title-plus-name terms read naturally: "Detective Hamilton", not "Hamilton Detective"
- Chapter titles no longer stay in Chinese — a title that fails to translate is retried automatically
- Double-clicking retranslate or rescrape no longer charges you twice, and a failed attempt gives your quota back
- The free machine translation shows an error with a Retry button instead of loading forever; chapter feedback is hidden there, since it rates our AI translation
- New "Hyphenate long words" setting — off by default, best with justified text
- Prev/Next at the bottom of a chapter no longer wraps onto two lines on phones, and the chapter title panel shows words, read time and views as tidy tiles
Read Aloud#
- Sleep timer — 15, 30 or 45 minutes, 1 hour, or end of chapter
- "Back to narration" button when the paragraph being read has scrolled out of view, in a redesigned player
- No more daily narration cap for patrons, and narration starts much faster on short sentences
- A paragraph that fails to generate audio is skipped instead of freezing playback; read aloud stops cleanly at the end of the last chapter, and chapters without paragraph breaks no longer break it
Cleaner Chapters#
- Chapters no longer open by repeating their own title — fixed across about 320,000 stored chapters
- Stray punctuation lines are gone — lines like "." or ",3" were being translated as paragraphs on some sources
- Paragraphs a source printed twice in a row are dropped (deliberate repeats are kept)
- Site junk like "Report Chapter Error / Share with Friends" is stripped, long titles no longer spill into the first paragraph, and "still processing" placeholder pages are no longer saved as chapters
Glossary & Codex#
- Every term now has a type — Character, Place, Item, Material, Technique, Organization, Concept, Title or Other — with an icon. The glossary, the chapter's entity list and the codex wiki can be filtered by type, the type can be edited, and new terms need one (pre-filled with a suggestion). The translator uses it too, so a pet named like an object stays a creature
- Junk terms are cleared out — everyday words that were wrongly made into terms (体内 → "Inside Body") are being hidden and no longer highlighted, and the prose they damaged has been repaired paragraph by paragraph
- Inactive terms stay listed but greyed out, and inactive names are still capitalised at the start of a sentence
- Aliases point to their main entry — they share its image and open its wiki
- Renames are more reliable — related terms follow a rename, dotted and undotted twins are renamed together, and a rename no longer rewrites a different character who happens to share an English name. Renaming to a name another term already uses warns you first
- Force-retranslate is its own request — fix chapters that don't use a term's current name without renaming it, touching only the affected paragraphs. "Retranslate chapters" is offered on every term edit
- Bulk rename lets you pick which matches to include
- Suggesting a term that already exists offers a one-tap "Open", now in the glossary page as well as the chapter
- Anyone can suggest changes to the general glossary — edits, genres, fandoms, removals — reviewed by mods. Editing a general term from inside a novel only changes it for that novel, and it now takes three matching readers to propose a new name
- The general glossary got a redesign — a compact table with one actions menu per row, and two-line rows on mobile
- Distinct ranks and tiers keep distinct names (Elder, Primordial, Ancient Dragon) instead of collapsing into one
- Wiki requests on a partly indexed novel are queued and you're notified when the wiki is ready. Wiki likes survive a rescrape, wikis pick up renames, and the most-read wikis refresh far more often
- Character art is generated faster, with calmer, less glary images
- Back leaves a search in one step on the general glossary and codex wiki, instead of stepping through every term you typed
- Edit history shows "Mod" instead of "Auto" and no longer shows genders as "GenderEnum.NEUTRAL"
Browse & Discovery#
- One Fanfic control (Any / Yes / No) on Popular, Browse and Community Activity, remembered between visits, plus a Crossovers switch when browsing a fandom
- Fandoms can be included or excluded with AND/OR, like tags
- Author search tolerates typos, and results sort by relevance automatically when you search
- Popular no longer scrambles fan-fiction rankings past the top few, and defaults to This Week for new visitors
- New Arrivals shows when each novel arrived
- Completed/Ongoing now comes from the original publishing platform — about 1,000 novels were corrected to Completed
- More novels link out to DaoSearch, re-checked daily and matched more precisely
- A novel's fandom is identified as soon as it's added, so its first chapters already use the fandom's shared glossary
- Filter chips name each tag instead of just showing a count
Library, Uploads & Notifications#
- The library bookmark icon opens the status menu instead of removing the book outright, and the Uploads page gets the same control
- Notifications update on their own while the tab is open
Chapter Summaries#
- Summaries open on the page with your current chapter and scroll to it, the spoiler warning is asked only once, and there's expand/collapse all
Sources#
- New sources: liyuxiangxsw.com (鲤鱼乡) for danmei, ihuaben.com (话本小说), and a new 52shuku mirror
- Chapter lists are checked as they're fetched — chapters keep their real titles, broken partial fetches are refused, and a novel added from a messy source starts from a cleaner one where possible
- Fixes for fsuzw and 44xw (short or duplicated lists), twkan (moved books), 52shuku (multi-page chapters), biquge.tw, ixdzs and 69shuba, and very large novels no longer time out
- A new, larger pool of connections for faster, more reliable fetching
- Adding a novel once creates one request — pressing Enter twice no longer double-charges you or sends a false "failed" notice, and a failed preview-to-full upgrade refunds your credit
Reports, Comments & Reviews#
- Retranslation reports can ask for a glossary reset, which mods can approve. Hand-edited terms are always kept
- A thumbs-down on a chapter now files a retranslation report for the mods instead of going nowhere
- The report dialog was reorganised — propose specific tags or fandoms to add or remove, suggest a better source (with a "Find sources" button), ask for a novel's description to be retranslated, or flag a chapter "Still in Chinese". Report now lives in the novel's "more" menu, and "Request Full Novel" is now "Get Full Novel"
- Duplicate novels are merged into the original — reviews, ratings, library entries, reading progress and comments move across
- Spoiler tags — wrap text in
||double bars||in comments and reviews, tap to reveal - Quick-reason chips when reporting a comment, and clearer messages when editing your profile
Accounts & Legal#
- Patreon access ends when your Patreon link does — you're signed out until you log in again
- Rewritten Terms of Use, Privacy Policy and DMCA pages that match what the site actually does, including a "What Is Public" section
