V3.19 makes RandomTranslator installable as an app with offline reading, improves the reading experience, community profiles and progression system, and makes responsive pages more stable.
The app#
- RandomTranslator can be installed as an app on iPhone, iPad, Android, Mac and desktop Chrome or Edge. It opens in its own window and uses the same reader and settings as the site. See Install the App.
- Same-origin pages that used to open a new tab open inside the app instead, so nothing throws you out to a browser sheet.
- On a ProMotion iPhone, a Safari setting caps web apps at 60 fps. The app tells you once, and the install guide says how to lift it.
Offline reading#
- On the $5 tier and up, Download in a novel's menu saves the next 100 AI-translated chapters from where you are, in the installed app. See Offline Reading.
- A download follows you. As you read, online or offline, it fetches the chapters ahead of your place and lets go of the ones you have finished, so there are always 100 ahead. Your place and any personal translations you set while offline are sent when you reconnect.
- The offline reader is the same reader: your font, width and theme, the name popup with portraits, personal translations, and read aloud with your device's voices using the same Speech settings.
- If a chapter cannot load because the connection dropped and you have it downloaded, the reader opens your saved copy.
- Downloads in your account menu lists what is on your device, with the cover, size and an Update button for each novel. Display Settings → Site shows how much space downloads use.
- Downloads renew themselves while you are online and lock 14 days after the last refresh. Logging out removes them.
Reading and layout#
- Site Width and Chapter Width are now independent settings.
- Both settings start at 100%; Full Width can remove the maximum-width cap for the active setting.
- Narrowing a chapter no longer narrows browse, profiles or community pages.
- Saved display settings apply as the page loads, reducing flashes on refresh.
- Mobile book rows show the useful reading metadata without crowding the title.
- Home carousels, reports, notification panels and image previews keep stable space while loading.
Progression and achievements#
- Your profile now includes an achievement catalogue with locked goals and progress indicators. Other readers see only your earned achievements.
- Achievements are grouped into Common, Uncommon, Rare, Epic, Legendary and Mythic tiers.
- Achievement cards now include family icons, rarity colours and unlock dates.
- Added larger reading milestones, including 2,000, 5,000 and 20,000 recorded chapter opens.
- Added deeper glossary, report and review milestones.
- Achievements unlock permanently and are awarded automatically.
- Public profiles show earned recognition while private progress remains protected.
- Reading now earns XP: 5 XP for each day you read plus 1 XP per chapter, up to 20 chapters, so up to 25 XP a day. It is added after each UTC day ends, and every reading day since September 13 is counted.
- The private XP breakdown on your profile splits what you have earned into Reading and Contributions.
Novel requests#
- Novel requests are now charged by size. A novel under 200 chapters uses half a request, so two short novels fit in one.
- Novels of 200 to 2,000 chapters still use one request, and longer novels still use one more for every 2,000 chapters.
- Upgrade (formerly Get Full Novel) on a preview follows the same size rule, for short and long novels alike.
- My Limits shows half requests as they are (for example 22.5 / 32), and a failed request is refunded in full whatever the novel's size.
Notifications#
- Level-up and achievement notifications now show progression details, award rarity and direct links to the profile.
- Progression notifications are grouped so one update does not create several separate alerts.
- Notification panels preserve loaded content while refreshing and handle older notification records safely.
Profiles and community#
- Profile awards and display titles have clearer rarity presentation.
- Public activity and rankings keep their content while refreshing, reducing visual movement.
- Profile tabs scroll cleanly on narrow screens and expose their overflow more clearly.
- Community activity and report layouts wrap long content safely on mobile.
Glossary and metadata#
- The glossary page on phones is one row: search, a Filters button that shows how many filters are set, and Add. Type, source, status, sort, Only my translations and Bulk Rename live in a sheet.
- In the term dialog the tags sit beside the portrait, and the portrait is a little larger.
- Entity links and suggestions are more reliable in chapters and community surfaces.
- Canon reasoning is shown only where it applies to fanfiction.
- Discord entity suggestions now keep the suggested translation and pinyin in the correct order.
Help#
- The help docs and this changelog now live on the site itself, at Help and Changelog, rewritten for the current site.
Reliability#
- The installed app is as fast as the site: the offline machinery runs only for readers who hold downloads, and never on the path of a page load.
- Tapped controls on the reader bar, the player and the paragraph menu no longer stay lit after a tap on touchscreens.
- Saved display preferences are respected when returning to cached pages.
- Loading states, image dimensions and font loading were tightened to reduce flashes and layout shifts.
- Several profile, ranking, notification and chapter refresh paths now recover more cleanly from temporary failures.
