Watching Bazett's wounds heal bit by bit and two petal-shaped Command Spells appear on the back of her hand, Shinji smiled faintly. "Looks like it worked. But since the sacrifice and the order to change Masters shared one Command Spell, there are only two left."

"Don't move."

Bazett paid no attention to that. Instead, she reached out and took hold of Shinji's left hand, which was still dripping blood.

A simple healing spell activated.

A blue glow enveloped Shinji's wrist. Before long, the wound on his arm had completely healed.

"Thank you, Sister Bazett." Shinji's eyes curved as he gave her a grateful smile.

"No, I should be the one thanking you. I can continue my mission now."

"Your mission..." Shinji murmured, then smiled again. "Actually, you don't have to treat something like that as a mission if you don't want to."

"No. That is my mission."

"Every once in a while, try doing something that makes you happy—something you've never tried before, something you think might interest you. If you keep living a mechanical life where you can't feel any happiness, sooner or later, you'll lose yourself."

Bazett frowned and immediately retorted, "My life..."

"No need." Shinji waved a hand with a smile, cutting her off. "It's just a suggestion. There's no need to argue with me about it. Besides, arguments themselves are meaningless most of the time, just like how you want to argue with me right now.

We both know you can't convince me, just as I can't convince you right now. In the end, we'd only part on bad terms because we hold different views, so there's no point in doing that at all.
