Background
Hakuno first appears as a Tsukimihara Academy student living in a gray, artificial routine. Sakutsuki's arrival makes the world seem vivid and real, while his popularity immediately provokes Shinji's jealousy. 338 339
During the Holy Grail War preliminaries, Hakuno's missing memories leave him disoriented and vulnerable. After witnessing the massacre caused by Lancer and being pursued through the academy, Hakuno reaches the infirmary and collapses before the selection hall. 341
Hakuno is mortally wounded by an Assassin-and-Caster pair near the end of the preliminaries. Sakutsuki appears in the aftermath, but later makes clear that he is not Hakuno's original Servant and has no obligation to remain at his side. 342 344
Appearance
Hakuno has tea-colored long hair, clear eyes, and a subdued presence that makes other participants underestimate him. He initially wears Tsukimihara Academy's standard uniform. 342 346
- Often described as calm-looking and gentle despite his inexperience. 339 382
- His presence is unusually faint even for a Master. 346
- Uses combat Mystic Codes and defensive items once the Holy Grail War begins. 356 383
Personality
Hakuno begins the war quiet, uncertain, and hampered by amnesia, but refuses to surrender when confronted by lethal danger. Even after being abandoned by Shinji and nearly killed in the preliminaries, he seeks answers and chooses to survive. 341 342
His defining trait is trust. Hakuno offers Sakutsuki a temporary contract with unusually generous terms, prioritizing the Masterless Servant's freedom and safety despite the risk to himself. 347 This trust initially makes Hakuno easy for Sakutsuki to tease or mislead, but it also becomes the foundation for their effective cooperation. 350 351
As the war continues, Hakuno grows more calculating and assertive. He recognizes the structure behind Alice's Reality Marble, deliberately fakes amnesia to keep Sakutsuki nearby, and ultimately exploits Sakutsuki's hesitation to defeat him with a Command Spell. 379 384 403

- Identifies the mana cost and operational limits behind Alice and Nursery Rhyme's immortal Poker Card Knights. 383 384
