"That guy's strength is beyond anything sheer numbers can overcome!"
What Jiraiya had not expected was that the two sages, Fukasaku and Shima, spoke almost in unison.
"As much as we hate to admit it, Uchiha Chisen has probably already surpassed Hashirama Senju and Uchiha Madara in their prime!"
"And back then, the shinobi world did consider forming an allied army to fight those two!"
Fukasaku and Shima slowly recounted an old story. Hashirama Senju and Uchiha Madara pacifying the shinobi world and ending the Warring States era had never been an empty claim. They had truly beaten the entire shinobi world into submission.
It was only because Hashirama Senju wanted to establish villages. Otherwise, with their strength, he and Uchiha Madara could easily have unified the shinobi world. This was also one of the reasons they had parted ways.
"The Great Toad Sage tried to foresee Uchiha Chisen's future, but-"
"But in the Great Toad Sage's prophecies, Uchiha Chisen doesn't exist at all!"
"The Great Toad Sage also ordered us to avoid provoking Uchiha Chisen if at all possible."
"For even the Great Toad Sage to be wary of him, Uchiha Chisen must have grown tremendously stronger lately."
After hesitating for a moment, Fukasaku and Shima relayed the Great Toad Sage's words to Jiraiya as well. They were caught between two conflicting demands: on one hand, they had to bring the Child of Prophecy back to Mount Myōboku; on the other, they could not offend Uchiha Chisen.
But everyone in Konoha knew that Naruto called Uchiha Chisen his teacher!
All Fukasaku and Shima could do now was pin their hopes on Jiraiya, hoping he could change Naruto's mind and persuade him to return to Mount Myōboku with them. Yet lately, Jiraiya seemed less invested in the matter than before.
