• At the Third Hokage’s funeral, Hinata reflected on his kindness, then helped Kakashi, Asuma, and Kurenai confront Itachi and Kisame, driving the Akatsuki pair away.
• Hinata joined Jiraiya and Naruto on their journey, mastered Sage Mode, and helped Jiraiya confront Orochimaru, who escaped after threatening Konoha.

Hinata joined the mission to retrieve Sasuke, helped defeat Orochimaru’s forces, and returned to Konoha with intelligence from Otogakure. She then set out with Kakashi’s team to escort Gaara’s group, unaware that Danzo had arranged for Iwagakure to attack them.

• Hinata defeated Sasuke in a fight but kept his disappearance secret until Naruto told Tsunade he was missing.

• Kakashi used a feigned route to draw Root into the open, and Might Guy’s team fought off Fū Yamanaka’s attackers while Torune Aburame’s attempt to kill Gaara failed.
• Hinata shared the Nine-Tails’ chakra with Might Guy and later with Neji, Rock Lee, and Tenten, driving back Iwagakure’s Anbu and prompting Kitsuchi to mistake her for the Nine-Tails’ Jinchuriki.
